1. MY MUSIC
MAGAZINE Throughout this project I have been researching on
mainly magazines and to start off with I have done a
preliminary task. This preliminary task consists of a
magazine front cover and a contents page and I have
successfully passed that task. Straight after that; the
MAIN task took over as I had to create a music
magazine based on a specific genre and do a relevant
front cover, contents page and, also a double page
spread. Independently, I have created three
appropriate deadlines for myself to organise when I
should hand in the three main tasks in terms of the
research and planning, production itself and the
evaluation. The deadline I have given myself for the
planning and research is on the 25 th January 2012,
production is on the 25 th of February and the
evaluation is on the 28 th of March. As you can see I
have separated these deadline equally so I can easily
keep up with time.
2. My product is an RnB magazine and this will be used to encourage the consumer
to a wide range of materials from the latest updates and news in the RnB world.
RESEARCH FOR The reason to why I have chosen the genre RnB is because I find RnB to be one
of the most-known type of music genres in informational terms, as it affects
MY MAGAZINE
people's everyday lives and there is always something happening in the world
of R&B, for instance; Beyoncé’s album some of the lyrics to her songs links with
what others are going through .
& The target audience for my music magazine will be aimed at young adults,
GENRE: RNB because this is what an RnB magazine relates to the most, as adults aged 28
and above are usually not interested within this boundary of entertainment
since it does not fit within their specific generation or time. Young adults look
up to the aspiring RnB artists of today as role models, so therefore RnB
magazines attract younger audiences so that they can follow in their footsteps,
or simply catch up on the latest gossip involving R&B celebrities. It has been
said that, most RnB artists are either in their teenage years themselves or just
above, so the younger generation can relate to their background, etc. since
they are of a similar age, and being a young adult myself, I can easily write the
article for my double page spread, specifically for my target audience, as it is
already coming from a young adults perspective and that is obviously me.
RnB music videos are also usually quite dramatic and explicit which means that
the photos that I will be taking for my magazine might be revealing a bit of
skin. This means that this magazine must be aimed at those who are allowed to
view explicit images or so. The lightings of the typical RnB magazines are
usually really bright and clear making (the main image) the artist look as if she
or he is put onto the spotlight. The colour theme for typical RnB magazines are
tensed colours such as; red, blue, sometimes a bright yellow, black and grey.
According to my target audience; I have a mixture of age groups meaning the

would range between £3,000 - £4,000 for printing and publishing etc.
To help me with the magazine I will be conducting Primary and Secondary
research so that I can grasp an idea of how I want my magazine to look like,
what the audience expect from a music magazine, and their buying behaviour
towards them as a whole.
