2. Nature Reserve
• The outside location choice was Quarr Lane Nature Reserve in
Sherborne which gave a suitable outdoors setting which is
conventional for an indie pop video as they are filmed in secluded,
rural areas.
• It also provided a contrast with the studio shots which have a clear
differentiation between nature and a formal, professional
environment with necessary equipment available.

4. • On the previous slide are images of the location recce for the nature
reserve. We were looking for a place where there were built up trees
and a clearing for where we could have the picnic mat led out.
• Other location options that we considered was Ninesprings, the
Terraces and a woods in Beer Hackett however when we had a look at
them they didn’t provide the environment that we had in mind
exactly.
5. Photography Studio
• We used the school’s photography studio for the shots where we
wished to have specific lighting and the studio provided the right
equipment for our needs.
• This location also provided us with the best way for us to convey the
idea of a dream because of the controllable surroundings – it is a
confined space much like the mind which will aid us in mirroring the
activity in our characters brain.
• Furthermore it gave us enough space for the actors to perform in as
well as suitable facilities for us to get their hair, makeup and costume
ready.
6. House
• We filmed in Lydia’s house which is an old farm house therefore the interior has many antique pieces of furniture
and provides a good atmosphere for the shots that we needed. There was also a suitable amount of space for us
to experiment with different camera movements and shot lengths. This was a good location choice because it
provided the homely environment which was needed to display our narrative. It conveys that this is Johanna’s
house and the inclusion of the armchair didn’t look out of place in the living room environment.
• It was also a conventional choice of location because indie pop videos are often filmed in the characters house to
make the connection between their isolated lifestyle and the seclusion they apply to themselves. Moreover, it
gives some context to the character because the interior can mirror the class and age of the character. This setting
could portray that Johanna is an older person as the interior includes antiques and more traditional choices of
furnishings etc.
