2. Who is the real number
one?
In my opinion, there are 6
teams that look the part of
number one team in the
country.
Alabama, Oregon, Florida
State, LSU, Georgia, and
South Carolina have all
played at a level of the top
team in the country. Who’s
the best? If you haven’t had
the chance to watch all of
them, this weekend provides
the opportunity. All 6 will be
on national television at
some point on Saturday.
Check them out and you
determine who looks the
best.
3. Going for 1,000
Okay, so the slate this
Saturday is pretty weak. The
noon time slot usually leaves
us with BCS teams versus mid-
major programs or worse, Big
East games. However, this
Saturday on FX there is a
strong possibility of total yards
in excess of 1,000. Baylor and
West Virginia are both
currently averaging over 500
yards per game, and neither
defense has looked
impressive. Both teams sport
an incredible receiver
tandem, and precision
passers. We may in for a track
meet, and who doesn’t love
watching those games?
4. Le’Veon Bell vs.
Braxton Miller
In East Lansing on
Saturday, yards will be
tougher to come by than a
Charlie Rose interview with
Honey Boo Boo. The
Buckeyes face the number
one defense in the B1G.
Michigan State is currently
allowing only 3.9 yards per
play. However, the Spartans
offense has yet to find a
rhythm under Andrew
Maxwell. One big play
could be the
difference, and both teams
will rely on their stars to
make something happen.
5. Todd Gurley
Georgia’s freshman running
back is currently leading the
SEC in rushing yards.
Tennessee defensive
coordinator, Sal Sunseri
(former Alabama
linebackers coach) said that
Gurley reminded him of
Trent Richardson. Gurley
averages an incredible 9.2
yards per carry. The Vols will
need eight men in the box
to stop Gurley, which will
allow Aaron Murray to spin it
past the Vol secondary.
6. Returning Referees
Thank God the NFL referees
are back! The final play on
this past Monday Night
Football, was one of the
worst calls I have ever
witnessed. Could you
imagine if that call would
have taken place in the
Super Bowl? Even if you
aren’t an avid NFL fan, the
return of the regular referees
will at least free up some
Sportscenter real estate.
7. Homeland
Homeland cleaned up at
the Emmys this past Sunday.
The Showtime drama is
about a rescued American
POW who returns home to
fame and notoriety as a
hero, raises the suspicion of
CIA agents as a possible
member of a terrorist cell.
This is the most intense show
since 24, but better. The
season premiere starts
Sunday night, but if you
haven’t caught up on the
first season, Showtime will be
showing most of the first
season on Saturday
afternoon. Set your DVR.
