2. What is bullying?
Bullying happens when someone hurts or scares
another person on purpose and the person
being bullied has a hard time defending
themselves (Government of Alberta, N.A).
3. What are the different types of
bullying?
“Verbal bullying - name-calling, sarcasm,
teasing, spreading rumours, threatening, making
negative references to one's culture, ethnicity,
race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation,
unwanted sexual comments (Government of
Alberta, N.A).”
“Social Bullying - mobbing, scapegoating,
excluding others from a group, humiliating
others with public gestures or graffiti intended to
put others down (Government of Alberta, N.A).”

“Physical Bullying - hitting, poking, pinching,
chasing, shoving, coercing, destroying or
stealing belongings, unwanted sexual touching
(Government of Alberta, N.A).”
“Cyber Bullying - using the internet or text
messaging to intimidate, put-down, spread
rumours or make fun of someone (Government
of Alberta, N.A).”
5. Effects of bullying
People become harmed and or upset due to
feeling unwanted or unneeded, feeling that they
are no good, and don’t understand their purpose
to be here.
Bullying can have long and short term affects
due to the physical and sociological abuse due
to bullying threw out the years.

Not being able to sleep
Sleeping too much
Being exhausted

7. How common is bullying?
Bullying has become more and more profound in
todays society.
“Bully victims are between 2 to 9 times more
likely to consider suicide than non-victims,
according to studies by Yale University
(bullyingstatistics.org, 2013).”
“A study in Britain found that at least half of
suicides among young people are related to
bullying (bullyingstatistics.org, 2013).”

“According to statistics reported by ABC News,
nearly 30 percent of students are either bullies
or victims of bullying, and 160,000 kids stay
home from school every day because of fear of
bullying (bullyingstatistics.org, 2013).”
9. School Bullying
“Over the last twenty years or so, bullying has
been increasingly recognized as a serious
problem that affects millions of children in
schools in countries throughout the world (Ken
Rigby, 2014).”
Bullying affects kids ability to learn because it
effects their:
○ Grades
○ Social Life
○ Ability to learn
10. What Schools can do to prevent
bullying…
They can develop an agreed well supported anti-
bullying policy to direct operations
They can become aware of their moral and legal
obligations in responding to bullying in schools
They can deliver information to students about
bullying and involve them in classroom activities
that will enable them to acquire attitudes and
skills that will help them in developing and
maintaining positive relations with their peers

They will help children to come to terms with
new forms of bullying, especially those making
use of cyber technology
They can work with students who can be trained
to support vulnerable children who are being
bullied
They can seek to prevent bullying and deal with
cases of bullying through cooperation with
parents
12. What is Bullying in the
Workplace?
“Bullying is usually seen as acts or verbal
comments that could 'mentally' hurt or isolate a
person in the workplace. Sometimes, bullying
can involve negative physical contact as well.
Bullying usually involves repeated incidents or a
pattern of behavior that is intended to intimidate,
offend, degrade or humiliate a particular person
or group of people. It has also been described
as the assertion of power through aggression
(Ccohs, 2005).”
13. Examples of workplace
bullying:
Underwork - creating a feeling of
uselessness
Spreading malicious rumors, gossip, or
innuendo that is not true
Intimidating a person
Withholding necessary information or
purposefully giving the wrong information
Criticizing a person persistently or constantly

14. Bullying Statistics
“According to bullying statistics 2010, there are about
2.7 million students being bullied each year by about
2.1 students taking on the roll of the bully
(bullyingstatistics, 2013).”
“Bullying statistics for 2010 revealed about one in seven
students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade is
either a bully or has been a victim of bullying
(bullyingstatistics, 2013).”
15. How to prevent bullying:
Pay Attention; watch for warning signs and
watch for lost or damaged person items
Don’t ignore bullying, it is a serious deal. It may
seem harmless but if it continues it can hurt the
person and have serious consequences
Get help before its to late
If you see it happen to someone else, do
something about it before it gets serious,
because if not your just as much to blame as the
one who is engaging the bullying
16. How to prevent bullying

Don’t always deal with it yourself as it doesn’t
always work, get help from parents and or
professional help depending on the situation
Help the people who are not as strong worded
and the ones who cant stand up for themselves
