lost in wonderful stories, while at
the same time providing a sense
of place for gathering.

We have different kind of libraries where people
can go and read, research, reference, borrow etc.

 Children’s Library
 Special Libraries

 Reference Libraries
 Public Libraries
National Library:
A national library keeps all documents of and
about a nation under some legal provision and
thus represents publications of and about the
whole nation.
For Example:
British Library, London.
Functions of National Library:
 It works as a national depository library for all
literary work published in a country.
 Producing National Bibliography.
 It also exchange data and documents at
national and international level.
 It make provision for practical training of library
professionals.
 It procures and preserve manuscripts.
 special library
A special library is a library that
provides specialized information resources on a
particular subject, serves a specialized and limited
clientele, and delivers specialized services to that
clientele. Special libraries also exist within academic
institutions, including law school libraries and medical
school libraries.
 Functions of special library:
A special library performs primarily the following
functions:
It subscribes to a good number of journals related to
its area;
It provides indexing and abstracting services to the
users to save their time;
It provides reference services to the users by
telephone, by post or by email;
 Research library
A research library is a library which
contains an in-depth collection of
material on one or several subjects. A
research library will generally include
primary sources as well as secondary
sources.
 Reference library
Such libraries are used for research
purpose in the university. Many libraries
contain a “reference section” which
holds books, dictionaries which are
common reference books and are
therefore not lent out.
 Academic library
An academic library is a library that is attached
to a higher education institution and serves
two complementary purposes: to
support the curriculum, and to
support the research of the university faculty
and students. ... Modern academic
libraries generally also provide access to
electronic resources.
 The Children's Library
provides educational, recreational, and cultural
resources for children aged 6 to 11. It has a
large collection of picture books, story books,
nonfictional books, and multimedia materials in
several languages covering a wide range of
subjects from art to zoology.

enhance their study how to
use the latest technologies
to enhance their learning.
Bibliography
A bibliography is a list of works on
a subject or by an author that
were used or consulted to write a
research paper, book or article. It
can also be referred to as a list of
works cited. It is usually found at
the end of book, article or
research paper.
Conclusion
In short everyone should have
the knowledge of library to get
the high quality reliable
material for their research or
any academic purpose. This
knowledge will ultimately
make you a skilled person
who will find out the desired
