5. What is DSC?
An overview
Developer Student Clubs are university
based community groups for students
interested in Google developer
technologies.
By joining a DSC, students grow their
knowledge in a peer-to-peer learning
environment and build solutions for local
businesses and their community.

The Bigger goal
The Solution Challenge is an annual contest
presented by Developer Student Clubs (DSC)
that invites students to develop solutions for
local community problems using one or more
Google products or platforms.
What is the Solution
Challenge?
Welcome all,
Thanks for joining in it means a lot.
In this session I’ll be walking y’all thru
-what is dsc?
-what it has to offer and some more similiar questions
So in short dsc is a club run by students for students and is backed by google as they provide dsc leads free educational contents that we get to you in the form of workshops events hackathons info sessions and much more.
Also DSC arriving to our campus is a golden opportunity for us to leverage google developers’ technologies and also we and our campus are the selected few across india as there are only 278 dsc in india and around 1000 all across the globe. So this is a moment of proud as we are a part of a community filled with osm student developers that we all got a chance to connect and build with.
Here’s a video of a dsc in Indonesia and these are university students just like you and me. Now what they have done is that they have created a flood alert app. Which highlights the fact that dsc’s community driven projects are not only for project showcasing or to fill the records they literal helps solving problems at ground zero, they are affect a wide population and some of them are even saving lives. These solutions in this case an app are used by locals, businesses and the one who are in need of it.
Now have a decent look at this video and think how we at dsc bkbiet can do something like this and help our community.
What’s our vision as a DSC?We ‘ll it is in our motto
Our aim is to build a community that believes and works on our motto. A community of like minded. A community that encourages others to learn and build together. A tech community in our campus that solves any problem that is visible to it. And at the end it all boils down to one single thing that is bridging the gap between theory and practice now leme explain why it’s important what I meant with that.
This is maan genius when it comes to theory he knows all ins and outs of the skills he is learning. And can teach to anyone.
And this is preet a genius builder he can build anything you throw to him but when it comes to theory he just can’t do it.
But we want to extract the best form both of them and become maanpreet best of both. Who knows the theory and can build too. That’s what bridging the gap between theory practical means.
How we’ll achieve this?Well first step is by organizing workshops info sessions and events related to tech skills.
Some of which we have are programmes organized by google we as a dsc are responsible to host those programmes in our respective colleges
As many of you are aware of the 30 days of google cloud and you may have register to it already.Similar to this upskill programme we have more upcoming programmes in the coming months here’s the timeline.
Now here’s what we’ve planned.
In the upcoming week we have an event dedicated to contributing to open source and how to participate in hacktoberfest
And not only this at the end of this month or probably next month we’ve planned a major event of two three days that’ll have talks, seminars and hands on workshops specific to each technology.
Now these events are short term goals. So now the question is What’s the bigger goal
Register: registration is only for getting your info so that google can assign mentors to each team. Any student over the age of 18 from a DSC affiliated university who wants to participate can register.
Now what to do if your college don’t have one well contact to dsc near you.
Build: find a major problem affecting a wide population and build something that solves it
Submit: Submit your solution and a 2 minute demonstration video on how it can be used.
