1) LHB coaches were developed in Germany and are now manufactured in India. They have a design speed of 160 kmph and can reach 200 kmph. They are made of stainless steel which makes them more durable and have better riding comfort compared to older ICF coaches.
2) LHB coaches are now used on premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Duronto expresses. Production takes place at locations like Kapurthala, with future factories planned as well.
3) Talgo coaches, manufactured in Spain, were trialled in India. They can reach speeds up to 180 kmph and save around 30% on energy costs compared to LHB coaches.
