Soil mapping is the identification, description and delineation of different kinds of soil based on the
spectral signature on satellite imagery, morphological observation of soil in field, and soil analysis in
laboratory.

Water Quality Mapping

Objective: Identification of suitable drinking water sources and preparation of water quality maps.

PHED, Madhya Pradesh: GIS Mapping of hand pump, tube /bore wells, water sample collection and
analysis in 15 parameters including micro-bacteriological test, sanitation survey, preparation of detailed
DPR / thematic maps and publishing the data on DDWS / NIC website.

The work is for 8 districts of Madhya Pradesh (Mandla, Dhar, Balaghat, Chindwara, Seoni, Jhabua,
Raisen and Rajgarh) comprising of above 1.00 lakhs water sources.

PHED, Chhattisgarh: Mapping the water bodies, hand pump, tube /bore wells, water sample collection
and analysis in 9 parameters and preparation of a detailed thematic water quality map for the Korba
district. A detailed report is submitted along with analysis report and integrated GIS data with various
parameters depicting water quality. The work was for 8000 bore wells, 2500 water bodies for the Korba
District.

Laser technology is said to be one of the most important technological developments of the 20th century
and it is now commonly accepted that lasers are capable of measuring distances with high accuracy.
LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) is one application area of laser technology that enables the
collection of accurate elevation data.

There are three types of LiDAR is using in the current generation.
