What is Comune di Ispica and what does it do?
The Municipality of Ispica is a Municipality in the province of Ragusa, on the south of Sicily (Italy).
The Mayor of Ispica is Pietro Rustico, native of the region.

The Municipality activity is devoted to the care and security, to the services for the citizens (city
administration, social care, city planning, environment protection, sports, education) and the
environmental, social and economic development of the Ispica area.
Agriculture
The economy is based on agriculture, with a territory dedicated to intensive crops. The cultivation
of fruits and vegetables, such as mainly tomatoes and carrots, which have even allow the
development of transformation enterprises. Other agricultural important productions are those of
almonds, olives, carrubes and vines, with the consequent development of oil mills and millstones.
Ispica is the headquarter of ASCA ( Agency for the security and food control), which refers to
EFSA (European Food Safety Security) and the director is the nutritionist Giorgio Calabrese.
The Ispica Municipality joins the "agrarian region n.3 - Modica's coastal hills" and various
associations between Municipalities:

Turism
The water and the beach of Santa Maria del Focallo, Bandiera Blu.
The turistic sector is rising thanks to various initiatives, among which the demand of insertion in
the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO.
As seaside resort it has been identified as "blue sail" in the guide of Legambiente in the 2010.
Conversely in the 2011 Ispica has been internationally approved with the Santa Maria del Focallo
beach with the identification of "The Blue Flag", given by FEE, which indicated the optimal status
of the costal sea water, the environment general quality of the area and its complete liveability.

The role of Comune di Ispica in the ONMEST 2 project
Comune di Ispica is the applicant of this project and coordinates the activities among all the
partners and the associates.
Its aim is to drive the partnership to the final objective of the project.

What is ERFC?
ERFC took the form of a Civil Society, Non-Government and non-Profit Organization, aiming at EU
Integration. ERFC was founded on 31-08-2009.
ERFCs’ headquarters are situated in Aegion, Prefecture of Achaia, Region of Western Greece
while legally established branches are already operational in Corfu & Thessaloniki.
ERFC main goals are:
Social policy and protection of vulnerable groups.
Fostering human resources, entrepreneurship and local development.
The integration of new technologies.
The efficient & rational use of Natural Resources.
The international co-operation, supported by EU programmes.
E.R.F.C.s’ strategy is to act as an active neutral coordination body that can facilitate the creation of
local, regional, national and international platforms where public organizations, business
communities academic organizations and civil society can cooperate strategically in an effort to
stimulate regional and national growth in bottom up European Integration.

What does ERFC do?
ERFC has a multilateral role in social integration and development for the benefit of the civilians. In
particular, ERFC is activated to:

• Improve mobility and sustainable territorial accessibility.
• Adapt the use of networks, material and immaterial.

The role of ERFC in the ONMEST 2 project
Based on the project documents and agreements, ERFC will carry the following responsibilities as
follows:
Operational
Implementation of the project in Greece
Analysing of the Territories and selection of target groups and beneficiaries (WP4)
Training of the trainers and all target groups (WP7)
Communication and diffusion of activities in Greece (newsletters, website)(WP3)
Development of the methodology for selecting the most functional social networks and interacting
with the target countries (WP2)
Development of a model for fund raising opportunities that could ensure the maintenance of the
OMNEST2 idea after the project ends (WP5)
Development of the Methodology of highlighting local songs and dances into the sustainable
touristic packages (WP4)
Selection of 5 destinations to be promoted as Centres of Local Culture (CLS) (WP4)
Selection of tour operators to design 5 tourist paths of sustainable tourism (WP5)
Contribution to the database with contacts from stakeholders interested in sustainable tourism

What is FUERM?
The Fundación Universidad Empresa (FUERM) is a non-profit-making educational and
interface institution between the university and the enterprise, constituted of, in March
1988, 50 firms who gradually became associated. Now, along with other newly
incorporated firms and institutions, it comprises more than 350 associates.
The existence of the Fundación is the fruit of the integration of common interests amongst
such entities, with the objective of fostering and developing dialogue and communication
between the University and the Enterprises, likewise, the promotion and fostering of all
classes of study and research of interest to both institutions. The Fundación has acted as
a bridge between the two public Universities in the Region of Murcia, the University of
Murcia and the University of Cartagena, regional businesses and institutions within an
international framework.

What does FUERM do?
The activities implemented by the Fundación can be divided in four main areas:

The Business School of the Region of Murcia is part of the Fundación Universidad
Empresa de la Región de Murcia, and was founded in 1991. This is supported by the
University of Murcia and the business sector, through the representation of business
organisations as well as the

The role of FUERM in the ONMEST 2 project
Based on the project document, FUERM will carry the following responsibilities as follows:
Technical
Training of the target groups and raising awareness:
Design of methodology and structure for the training models (not theoretical but
heavily practical) focused to:
o Representatives of the partners and coaches.
o Operators (operators of SMEs, groups of women and young people,
touristic guides, cultural groups, local communities…).
Looking and proposal of a system of communication and training at a distance
(which will help also the virtual meetings of partners and associates), with the
support of Delarpa.
Operational
Realization of the project in Spain.

Analysis of the territories and selection of the target groups and CLCs (WP4).
Supervision over the development of the touristic and cultural packages (WP5).

What is JVCCD?
The JVCCD is Jordanian private non- for- profit organization based in the Northern Jordan Valley,
established in the year 2003. JVCCD works in the field of studies, counseling, training, debate and
dialogue with focus on issues of natural resources, agriculture, water, environment, tourism,
human development, democracy and human rights. JVCCD seeks to secure the proper means to
achieve the comprehensive and sustainable development for the local community of Jordan Valley
in specific and the country in general, something considered to be a pre-requisite to accomplish
real development through empowering youth, women and local communities. This happens
through the implementation of local and national projects such as the current ONMEST 2.

What does JVCCD do?
JVCCD achieves its objectives through: conduct studies, researches and consultations in the
development field that are of a priority for the local community of the Jordan Valley; organize
specialized workshops, seminars and conferences to analyze and treat the Jordan Valley
problems; encourage dialogue and discussions among the Jordan Valley community to reach a
consensus on the appropriate solution for the matters that confront the local community in specific;
organize training and exchange activities in the fields that foster the acquisition of skills and
community traditional knowledge with emphasis on women and youth apart from securing jobs for
the new graduates; represent and let Jordan Valley community to participation in the national,
regional and international events; and promote JVCCD and its activity through the distribution of
its publications and periodicals. For instance, the centre organized a two days seminar on the
Traditional Art in the Northern Valley with focus on Pella, one of the ten Decapolis, in collaboration
with the Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism, something cross cuts with our
current project. The Centre launched an awareness campaign on farmers' rights with support of

the National Democratic Institute (NDI) of USA. In the field of human rights and democracy, the
Centre implemented a one year project to educate students about their rights and encourage them
to participate in the political development in the country addressing 26 schools with a total of
10,000 students within the School Parliament concept with the support of Middle East Partnership
(MEPI). Moreover, the Centre organized a seminar in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture on
local traditions and folklore. The Centre as well organized field competition among students in the
10th grade on art of painting.

The role of JVCCD in the ONMEST 2 project
Based on the project document, JVCCD will carry the following responsibilities as follows:

What does Baldati do?
Baldati is a national development, environmental, and cultural association which works to
develop simple and practical methods by which to revive Lebanese villages, reunite their
communities, support their institutions, and encourage dialogue among them and their
members.
Baldati promotes rural development projects in partnership with local municipalities, NGOs
and organizes events and develops capacity building.
Baldati took Lebanon as a pilot project but using it to go regional and serve the entire
region.
ICT4D (internet communication technology for development) is our battle horse and

What is Rozana?
Rozana Association is a rural tourism development pioneering initiative that works from
the historic centre of Birzeit Town, north of Ramallah, Palestine.
When the Rozana was first founded in 2007, its interest was to holistically preserve the
historic area of Birzeit. In time it matured to lead a community-based experiential tourism
endeavour in the countryside of Palestine with focus on the area between Ramallah and
Jenin. The Rozana promotes exploration and interpretation of Palestinian culture and
civilization. Its programs are linked with the local community and provide a platform for
exchange and first hand examination of the social, environmental and economic balances
that the local communities’ aspire or need to achieve. The Rozana programs are not only
about visiting; they are also about protecting. Rozana aspires to contribute to
understanding the dynamics of world civilizations, learn the ways of others and help
protect the world’s cultural and human heritage. It is part of the efforts to introduce in
Palestine an increasing number of programs that create an opportunity for the visitor to
feel, interact, explore, discover, understand the local culture and heritage and hopefully
join the efforts to protect it.
What does Rozana do?
The Rozana Association is keen about realizing its vision of sustainable rural
development based on the employment, utilization and development of available and
potential resources and capacities that exist in the countryside of Palestine. The Rozana

has identified the potential of these competencies to create a variety of differentiated
tourism programs and packages. For the Rozana Association, tourism is perceived and
adopted as the competitive economic driver that is able to generate the required added
value to attract attention to the riches of the countryside and to contribute to the
differentiation and sustainability of the national Palestinian tourism product. As a rural
tourism organization, the Rozana has developed interventions in the following areas in
order to realize its mission:

•

Architectural heritage: Rozana strives to preserve, protect, rehabilitate and introduce a
number of potential public, private and housing facilities in the historic area of Birzeit that
are able to thrive together as a cultural unit. The Rozana aspires to create a model and a
methodology to deal with and develop village historic centers. Additionally, Rozana seeks
to include a number of shrines and maqams in its programs hoping to raise enough
attention to restore them as visiting venues and potential community parks.

•

Trails and paths: The countryside around of Palestine is steeped in antiquities from
different historical periods. A number of paths and tours, such as the Sufi trails
(www.sufitrails.ps) and Masar Ibrahim (www.masaribrahim.ps) are being researched,
delineated and designed to utilize this wealth, to promote the landscape diversity, cultural
heritage and to indulge the local community.

•

Capacity Building: In promoting sustainable development, Rozana strives to build up the
human capacity of people living in its domain of activity. The Rozana has designed a
trekking guide introductory module, a home stays training module and has administered
training in business skills of local producer groups, event management and in
communication and leadership.

•

Culture and cultural heritage events: The Rozana organizes a number of cultural and
cultural heritage events each year like the Birzeit Heritage week, which is an event that has
attracted more than 30000 people annually, and such as the Maftoul festival which brings
many villages together to compete for the best Maftoul dish.

•

Networking: A key component of Rozana's success is its willingness to collaborate
with other organizations. The Rozana leads or is part of the leadership of the
following networking groups:
- Birzeit organizations committee.
- Masar Ibrahim union: Rozana, Siraj, Palestine Wild Life Society (PWLS),

The role of Rozana in the ONMEST 2 project
Based on the project document, Rozana will carry the following responsibilities as follows:

• Management and realization of products of sustainable tourism.
• Methodology of research, documentation and proposition of local dances, songs, theatrical
plays, framed in the cultural heritage and connected with the local history.

What is UNFT?
The UNFT militate for the improvement of the Tunisian woman status.
It has also worked in the enhancement of the legal asset which knew a decisive progress due to
the amendments of the code, introduces in august 1992.
With its beginnings, the UNFT devoted its action to the public awareness campaigns which it
carried out for the women intention through all the country to aware them of their rights and their
roles in the economic and social development.
It works for the improvement of the women statues and the elimination of any form of
discrimination against them.
It takes care of women enhance in all the fields: economic , social , cultural , scientific.
It acts in the favor of women implication in the authority centers and the decision spaces.

What does UNFT do?
1. Creation of a reception and orientation center for the woman in distress.
2. Creation of an office of social action.
3. Creation of an assistance unit to the economic activities of women for the granting of micro
credits.
4. Creation of a 45 kindergartens.
5. Organization of seminars in the actual themes.
6. Organization of training workshops and conferences.
7. Adult training : about 950 classes of elimination of illiteracy.

The role of UNFT in the ONMEST 2 project:
1. The UNFT main transversal task is to supervise the role of the women and the young
people in the project and propose the ways to overcome eventual difficulties that the
partners can meet in their action, even expressing your objections over the description of the
project. But beforehand UNFT should:
a. Analyze possible differences of impact with women and young people in different
situations that you have experience of.
b. Design possible different approaches for reaching the aims of the project in different
situations.
c. Build up questionnaires which allow you to feel the pulse of the reaction of the
women in the different situations that the partners are facing.
d. Create a detailed presentation (in word) and a synthetic explanation (in power point)
to illustrate your role to all partner during the second meeting in may in Palestine.
2. In the budget UNFT have been indicated as responsible of the coordination of the brand
and logo of the project.
3. The organization of the meeting in Tunisia in June 2015.
4. In each meeting UNFT will present the progress of your work and during the final
convention in Ispica in November 2015 UNFT will present the conclusions of his work but
mainly of the roles, behaviors, reactions, fallouts inside the project of women and young
people.

What is DELARPA TUNISIE?
DELARPA TUNISIE is a no-profit organization. It advises and supports government departments,
local authorities and communities in the fields of cultural heritage promotion and economy. It
contributes to the policies of cultural development; helping on the coherence of interventions, while
part of a proximity process, social ties, equal accessibility to heritage resources and stability of
cultural offer in the country.
DELARPA TUNISIE is involved throughout the cultural heritage fields: Archaeological and natural
sites, monuments and remarkable architecture, small vernacular heritage, ethnology, crafts, places
of memory and intangible heritage.

What does DELARPA TUNISIE do?
DELARPA TUNISIE assumes the approach that the cultural planning and cultural development of
territories, particularly the promotion of heritage is constantly changing and experiences at regular
intervals, the needs to reconsider its issues and means. The concern of DELARPA TUNISIE and
its partners is to use reinforcement techniques and new skills to maintain and enhance cultural
heritage strategies, optimize the operation and its management components.
Within the framework of Euromed heritage IV program, 2009-2013, DELARPA TUNISIE has
concluded

-Public awareness-raising of the preservation and promotion of Carthage’site as a Mediterranean
port-citie site along the Phoenician ring-thread routes in a past-present continuum;
- Promotion initiatives of community participation in decision-making for designing the port-city site
to be culturally, physically and visually accessible by re-interpreting the spaces as new places of
life;
- Promotion through different awareness-raising means the rediscovery and re-shaping in a
historical past-into-present overview of the local tangible and intangible heritage in a view of
connecting Carthage with the Mediterranean port-cities sites along the Phoenician ring-thread
routes;
- Trace specific educational paths along the historical role of Carthage as it is involved in the the
Mediterranean culture;
- Strengthen and addressed actions of the local authorities to the preservation and re-qualification
of the tangible and intangible heritage of their areas, through shared and integrated sustainable
tourism plans of new tourist itineraries;

Who is Associazione Culturale SUD?

Associazione Culturale SUD was born in Ispica, province of Ragusa, from an initiative of a
freelances group and it is a non-profit association.
These people, even if they worked together since long time, have decided, the 28th May 2004, to
officialise this collaboration creating the association, which did not impose to itself both territorial
limits and initiatives limits.
The association was born from a careful analysis of the socio-economical reality of Sicily and the
province of Iblea made by the associates themselves. The intention is to give sure and fast

What is Trekking Italia
Trekking Italia is a non-profit organization established since 1988, registered into the National
Register of Associations of Social Promotion. Its main aim is to promote hiking in order to know,
respect and defend nature and environment included their cultural aspects, and to encourage its
members not just to walk in a territory but to approach it with an open mind adopting a simple way
of life.
The participants are requested to join the Association and to share its values and purposes. In
every trip an expert member of Trekking Italia assumes the role of tour leader, supported or not, as
the case may be, by local guides.
The activities of the Association, which in 2013 counted 5.850 members, are carried out by a
network of seven local offices in Milan, Turin, Genoa, Venice, Bologna, Florence and Rome.
The Registered Office is located in Milan and the present President is Roberto D’Agostino.

What does Trekking Italia do?
Trekking Italia defines, organizes and offers all year round one day, two days or longer trekking
itineraries in Italy, in Europe and all over the world with the purpose of increasing walking practice
and encouraging the slow discovery of the territories crossed on foot with particular attention to
their natural, environmental and cultural peculiarities.
Day trips and weekend programs take place in Italy or in closed countries. Longer itineraries allow
us to explore farther territories both in Italy and abroad. Everywhere Trekking Italia privileges
mountain or hill paths, ancient and not yet paved roads (for example those followed in the past by
pilgrims, soldiers or workers) looking for suggestions of the past and connections to the present.
Normally accommodations are in comfortable but simple lodgings and sometimes at local family’s
houses, following the indications of sustainable tourism.

In order to avoid the risks of mass tourism, which represents a threat to the local socio-economic
balance, and to fulfill its own aim of civic commitment, Trekking Italia plans also itineraries in
countries and destinations which receive less publicity or which need to be supported by tourism,
paying specific attention on supporting local economies. In order to reach this goal Trekking Italia
has developed some specific projects with selected local partners in the South of Italy, in the
Balkan area (Albania, Bosnia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro), Armenia, West Bank,
Guatemala, India, Uganda.

The role of Trekking Italia in the ONMEST 2 project
Introduction to the methodology of creation of sustainable packages
Our objective is to train the partners to design packages following the rules of sustainable tourism,
with specific attention to the alternation of famous destinations and destinations which need to be
(re)discovered and promoted, on paths to be privileged and their identification and description, on
cultural or natural points of interest to be stressed, on proposals adequate for disabled people, on
transnational proposals.
Introduction to the methodology of tour leading
We will attempt to explain how to lead a group to make the visitors “live” the local life and local
problems, involving them deeply and “selling” emotions rather than facts.
In both the objectives the approach will be essentially practical and based on examples and on our
recent experiences in Italy and abroad.

What is PLEF?
The ONLUS Planet Life Economy Foundation is a no-profit organization and its aim is to make the
sustainability principles concretes in order to include them in the management of enterprises
(strategies, competitiveness, value added, finance, production process, etc.) paying attention on
the real expectations of the consumers/citizens (the life quality, emotions, amusement, pleasure).
PLEF promotes the creation of a new economic and social model that can create true "value"
(economic, social, environmental, human) and employment, overcoming the opposing arguments
of the "Growth" or "Descent."
From 2013 is a member of Consiglio Nazionale della Green Economy (National Council of Green
Economy).

What does PLEF do?
The purpose of the foundation is to study, define, promote, disseminate business strategies, which

What is AREGAI?
AREGAI is an Italian no profit association with the purpose of creating 'territories of well-being',

In recent years, in particular in the food and tourism sector, numerous sustainability standards and
certification systems have been established whether between producers and retailers or
transformers (B2B) or through retail products (B2C). But the profusion of standards and logos may
lead to confusion and loss of credibility among consumers.
The Scientific and Technical Commission of AREGAI believes that before having a label or a
certification, it’s necessary to have good information based on facts, as those can be proved
through analysis, measurement, observation and other means of research.
With LICET®, companies have a clear measurement and communication system that allows them
to understand their performance and improve their perception.
The measurement criteria are the results of ten years of applied research. These criteria translate
the complexity of sustainability scientific criteria in real-life situations that can be understood and
applied by everyone.
LICET® requires an intelligent balancing of the trade-offs of the various determinants of well-being,
grouped together in 5 LICET® values. The initials of these values form the Latin word "licet",
meaning "it is possible!“:

The role of AREGAI in the ONMEST 2 project
LICET® Participatory evaluation is reserved only for AREGAI’s members and associates; for
OMNEST2 project’s partners AREGAI will realize a tool kit to translate the sustainability
performance of tourism companies into measurable indicators, making the results something that
consumers and stakeholders can see and evaluate (“Methodology of SME’s sustainability
evaluation; Methodology of SME’s customer satisfaction evaluation). A web-based “LICET® test”
will be designed for the needs of the process and facilitates the data collection and reporting. By
doing this, LICET® allows the companies in OMNEST2 project to participate in the process and
decide if taking part to the system in the future.

What is PADIL?
PADIL SERVICES ... the scope of associations ... is an ORIGINAL WORK INITIATIVE
OF ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION, customized training and support to associations of
all kinds.
As a company SOCIAL and SOLIDARITY, PADIL puts economic efficiency in the
service of general interest.
PADIL, wants both professional NGO, office associative studies, space production and
dissemination of know-how and methodological principles, interface structure between
actors local development and international cooperation. This is according to multiple
identity "PADIL" an asset given the current reconstructions of the concept of sustainable
development and fair.
Founded by Mr. Sahim JAAFAR-Consultant and Manager who, during his 25 years of
experience in training, coaching and facilitation in associations and NGO, he was able
to measure changes both societal and managerial, which have influenced the
functioning of these collective organizations.
That is why he wanted through PADIL provide solutions to associations and NGO
wishing to boost their dynamism and reaffirm their identity.
PADIL is for this purpose, a light and responsive structure which revolves around a
network of volunteers and professionals engaged in the same process and the same
objectives bringing together skills and expertise needed to support associations, NGO
to SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND EQUITABLE.

What does PADIL do?
Mission PADIL, SERVICES... the scope of associations... is part of the Millennium
Development Goals (MDGs ), providing work together to find a shared future for all in
order to build an inclusive society where all ages, classes and social strata find their
place in the respect and dignity.
In this context, PADIL, proposes to participate in establishing :
i. upstream, new partnerships in socio-economic sectors of any kind, between
associations, NGO North (Western) including the North Shore of the
Mediterranean and Tunisian associations-NGO.
To do this and to facilitate the early stages of approximation of Tunisian and foreign
partners, PADIL, puts its know-how, expertise, and local human and material resources
available to associations, NGO northern Mediterranean wishing to develop their
activities in Tunisia.
ii. Downstream, of new local initiatives to strengthen small organizations working in
the field of sustainable development so that they can consolidate their efforts,
strengthen their impact and access to other funding sources.

What is Mulino della Torre?
It is a no profit association which researches and develops old recipes of the piedmonts’
kitchen, frames them into the tradition and the history of the country and organizes
courses and lessons of cooking where the teacher with the participation of the audience
cooks the local dishes documenting their integration in the local way of life.

What does Mulino della Torre do?
The Mulino della Torre is placed inside an old mill of '400 where local villagers grinded the
corn to make flour. In this warm atmosphere the association meet all people interested in
the kitchen in all its forms and fond of the local culture.

Inside the Mulino della Torre all take part to the lessons and learn how to cook and what
cooking and the cultivation of the ingredients meant for the population that lived in the
country: both the experts and the beginners who have the terror to handle the stove. All
learn how to make fast dishes able to help and face every surprise but also how to make
complex ethnical recipes.
With their lessons they show that coking is not an art for few people but an universe of
products, processes, and also way of living, culture, social structure.
Many of the learners discovered how to make the bread and found answers to their needs
of special alimentation or simply got an idea for a different dinner.
Our teachers lead step by step the learners, working on the same table, in the realization
of the recipes which can be followed with the help of written lessons where the dishes are
inserted into the local culture.
The role of AREGAI in the ONMEST 2 project
Design of a methodology of training people about local recipes framed into the local
heritage and history and using local agricultural products.
Transfer to the partners of its expertise of proposing recipes framing them in the cultural
heritage, for their training of women of local communities.

The Municipality of Ispica is a Municipality in the province of Ragusa, on the south of Sicily (Italy). The Mayor of Ispica is Pietro Rustico, native of the region. 3

The Municipality activity is devoted to the care and security, to the services for the citizens (city administration, social care, city planning, environment protection, sports, education) and the environmental, social and economic development of the Ispica area. Agriculture The economy is based on agriculture, with a territory dedicated to intensive crops. The cultivation of fruits and vegetables, such as mainly tomatoes and carrots, which have even allow the development of transformation enterprises. Other agricultural important productions are those of almonds, olives, carrubes and vines, with the consequent development of oil mills and millstones. Ispica is the headquarter of ASCA ( Agency for the security and food control), which refers to EFSA (European Food Safety Security) and the director is the nutritionist Giorgio Calabrese. The Ispica Municipality joins the "agrarian region n.3 - Modica's coastal hills" and various associations between Municipalities: • National association of wine city • National association tastes city • Wine road Val di Noto • Wine road Cerasuolo di Vittoria • Territorial Pact "Terre della Contea" • Sud-Est cultural district Turism The water and the beach of Santa Maria del Focallo, Bandiera Blu. The turistic sector is rising thanks to various initiatives, among which the demand of insertion in the World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. As seaside resort it has been identified as "blue sail" in the guide of Legambiente in the 2010. Conversely in the 2011 Ispica has been internationally approved with the Santa Maria del Focallo beach with the identification of "The Blue Flag", given by FEE, which indicated the optimal status of the costal sea water, the environment general quality of the area and its complete liveability. The role of Comune di Ispica in the ONMEST 2 project Comune di Ispica is the applicant of this project and coordinates the activities among all the partners and the associates. Its aim is to drive the partnership to the final objective of the project. 4

ERFC took the form of a Civil Society, Non-Government and non-Profit Organization, aiming at EU Integration. ERFC was founded on 31-08-2009. ERFCs’ headquarters are situated in Aegion, Prefecture of Achaia, Region of Western Greece while legally established branches are already operational in Corfu & Thessaloniki. ERFC main goals are: Social policy and protection of vulnerable groups. Fostering human resources, entrepreneurship and local development. The integration of new technologies. The efficient & rational use of Natural Resources. The international co-operation, supported by EU programmes. E.R.F.C.s’ strategy is to act as an active neutral coordination body that can facilitate the creation of local, regional, national and international platforms where public organizations, business communities academic organizations and civil society can cooperate strategically in an effort to stimulate regional and national growth in bottom up European Integration. What does ERFC do? ERFC has a multilateral role in social integration and development for the benefit of the civilians. In particular, ERFC is activated to: • Empower Civil Society. • Control the impact of human activity on the environment. • Improve energy efficiency. • Improve mobility and sustainable territorial accessibility. • Adapt the use of networks, material and immaterial. • Promote sustainable urban development. • promote the trans-national integration of development areas • Promote innovation and economic development. 5

The role of ERFC in the ONMEST 2 project Based on the project documents and agreements, ERFC will carry the following responsibilities as follows: Operational Implementation of the project in Greece Analysing of the Territories and selection of target groups and beneficiaries (WP4) Training of the trainers and all target groups (WP7) Communication and diffusion of activities in Greece (newsletters, website)(WP3) Development of the methodology for selecting the most functional social networks and interacting with the target countries (WP2) Development of a model for fund raising opportunities that could ensure the maintenance of the OMNEST2 idea after the project ends (WP5) Development of the Methodology of highlighting local songs and dances into the sustainable touristic packages (WP4) Selection of 5 destinations to be promoted as Centres of Local Culture (CLS) (WP4) Selection of tour operators to design 5 tourist paths of sustainable tourism (WP5) Contribution to the database with contacts from stakeholders interested in sustainable tourism (WP6) Sensitization of schools and communities (WP7) Approach to potential clients (CPF) and supervision of the sales of the packages (WP6) Organisational • Participate in coordination meetings, • Creation and Management of a Focal Point (CFP) in Greece, • Capitalisation of the Results (WP3), • Contribute to all partners’ activities in order to implement the project successfully, • Smooth financial and project management and reporting 6

The Fundación Universidad Empresa (FUERM) is a non-profit-making educational and interface institution between the university and the enterprise, constituted of, in March 1988, 50 firms who gradually became associated. Now, along with other newly incorporated firms and institutions, it comprises more than 350 associates. The existence of the Fundación is the fruit of the integration of common interests amongst such entities, with the objective of fostering and developing dialogue and communication between the University and the Enterprises, likewise, the promotion and fostering of all classes of study and research of interest to both institutions. The Fundación has acted as a bridge between the two public Universities in the Region of Murcia, the University of Murcia and the University of Cartagena, regional businesses and institutions within an international framework. What does FUERM do? The activities implemented by the Fundación can be divided in four main areas: Business School. The Business School of the Region of Murcia is part of the Fundación Universidad Empresa de la Región de Murcia, and was founded in 1991. The role of FUERM in the ONMEST 2 project Based on the project document, FUERM will carry the following responsibilities as follows: Technical Training of the target groups and raising awareness: Design of methodology and structure for the training models (not theoretical but heavily practical) focused to: o Representatives of the partners and coaches. o Operators (operators of SMEs, groups of women and young people, touristic guides, cultural groups, local communities…). Looking and proposal of a system of communication and training at a distance (which will help also the virtual meetings of partners and associates), with the support of Delarpa. Operational Realization of the project in Spain. Communication (WP2). Analysis of the territories and selection of the target groups and CLCs (WP4). Supervision over the development of the touristic and cultural packages (WP5). Approach to potential clients (CPF) and supervision of the sales of the packages (WP6). Training of the target group (WP7). Organizational Participation in the regional management meetings of the project. Creation and management of a CFP- Spain. Capitalization of the project results (WP3). Coordination and works closely with the lead and partners. 9

The JVCCD is Jordanian private non- for- profit organization based in the Northern Jordan Valley, established in the year 2003. JVCCD works in the field of studies, counseling, training, debate and dialogue with focus on issues of natural resources, agriculture, water, environment, tourism, human development, democracy and human rights. JVCCD seeks to secure the proper means to achieve the comprehensive and sustainable development for the local community of Jordan Valley in specific and the country in general, something considered to be a pre-requisite to accomplish real development through empowering youth, women and local communities. This happens through the implementation of local and national projects such as the current ONMEST 2. What does JVCCD do? JVCCD achieves its objectives through: conduct studies, researches and consultations in the development field that are of a priority for the local community of the Jordan Valley; organize specialized workshops, seminars and conferences to analyze and treat the Jordan Valley problems; encourage dialogue and discussions among the Jordan Valley community to reach a consensus on the appropriate solution for the matters that confront the local community in specific; organize training and exchange activities in the fields that foster the acquisition of skills and community traditional knowledge with emphasis on women and youth apart from securing jobs for the new graduates; represent and let Jordan Valley community to participation in the national, regional and international events; and promote JVCCD and its activity through the distribution of its publications and periodicals. For instance, the centre organized a two days seminar on the Traditional Art in the Northern Valley with focus on Pella, one of the ten Decapolis, in collaboration with the Greater Amman Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism, something cross cuts with our current project. The Centre launched an awareness campaign on farmers' rights with support of 10
  • 11. the National Democratic Institute (NDI) of USA. In the field of human rights and democracy, the Centre implemented a one year project to educate students about their rights and encourage them to participate in the political development in the country addressing 26 schools with a total of 10,000 students within the School Parliament concept with the support of Middle East Partnership (MEPI). Moreover, the Centre organized a seminar in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture on local traditions and folklore. The Centre as well organized field competition among students in the 10th grade on art of painting. The role of JVCCD in the ONMEST 2 project Based on the project document, JVCCD will carry the following responsibilities as follows: Technical: Build Knowledge about the targeted areas of Jordan and set up an approach on how to reach the local communities Operational: • • • • • • Realize of the project in Jordan Develop a communication strategy to make the project visible Analyse of the territories and selection of the target groups and beneficiaries Supervise over the development of the touristic and cultural packages Approach to potential clients (CPF) and supervision of the sales of the packages Train of the target group and launch an awareness campaign Organizational: • • • • • Participate in the regional management meetings of the project. In time it matured to lead a community-based experiential tourism endeavour in the countryside of Palestine with focus on the area between Ramallah and Jenin. The Rozana promotes exploration and interpretation of Palestinian culture and civilization. Its programs are linked with the local community and provide a platform for exchange and first hand examination of the social, environmental and economic balances that the local communities’ aspire or need to achieve. The Rozana programs are not only about visiting; they are also about protecting. Rozana aspires to contribute to understanding the dynamics of world civilizations, learn the ways of others and help protect the world’s cultural and human heritage. It is part of the efforts to introduce in Palestine an increasing number of programs that create an opportunity for the visitor to feel, interact, explore, discover, understand the local culture and heritage and hopefully join the efforts to protect it. The Rozana Association is keen about realizing its vision of sustainable rural development based on the employment, utilization and development of available and potential resources and capacities that exist in the countryside of Palestine. For the Rozana Association, tourism is perceived and adopted as the competitive economic driver that is able to generate the required added value to attract attention to the riches of the countryside and to contribute to the differentiation and sustainability of the national Palestinian tourism product. As a rural tourism organization, the Rozana has developed interventions in the following areas in order to realize its mission: • Architectural heritage: Rozana strives to preserve, protect, rehabilitate and introduce a number of potential public, private and housing facilities in the historic area of Birzeit that are able to thrive together as a cultural unit. The Rozana aspires to create a model and a methodology to deal with and develop village historic centers. Additionally, Rozana seeks to include a number of shrines and maqams in its programs hoping to raise enough attention to restore them as visiting venues and potential community parks. • Trails and paths: The countryside around of Palestine is steeped in antiquities from different historical periods. A number of paths and tours, such as the Sufi trails (www.sufitrails.ps) and Masar Ibrahim (www.masaribrahim.ps) are being researched, delineated and designed to utilize this wealth, to promote the landscape diversity, cultural heritage and to indulge the local community. • Capacity Building: In promoting sustainable development, Rozana strives to build up the human capacity of people living in its domain of activity. Design possible different approaches for reaching the aims of the project in different situations. c. Trekking Italia defines, organizes and offers all year round one day, two days or longer trekking itineraries in Italy, in Europe and all over the world with the purpose of increasing walking practice and encouraging the slow discovery of the territories crossed on foot with particular attention to their natural, environmental and cultural peculiarities. Day trips and weekend programs take place in Italy or in closed countries. Longer itineraries allow us to explore farther territories both in Italy and abroad. Everywhere Trekking Italia privileges mountain or hill paths, ancient and not yet paved roads (for example those followed in the past by pilgrims, soldiers or workers) looking for suggestions of the past and connections to the present. Normally accommodations are in comfortable but simple lodgings and sometimes at local family’s houses, following the indications of sustainable tourism. 23

Introduction to the methodology of tour leading We will attempt to explain how to lead a group to make the visitors “live” the local life and local problems, involving them deeply and “selling” emotions rather than facts. But the profusion of standards and logos may lead to confusion and loss of credibility among consumers. The Scientific and Technical Commission of AREGAI believes that before having a label or a certification, it’s necessary to have good information based on facts, as those can be proved through analysis, measurement, observation and other means of research. With LICET®, companies have a clear measurement and communication system that allows them to understand their performance and improve their perception. The measurement criteria are the results of ten years of applied research. These criteria translate the complexity of sustainability scientific criteria in real-life situations that can be understood and applied by everyone. Inside the Mulino della Torre all take part to the lessons and learn how to cook and what cooking and the cultivation of the ingredients meant for the population that lived in the country: both the experts and the beginners who have the terror to handle the stove. All learn how to make fast dishes able to help and face every surprise but also how to make complex ethnical recipes. With their lessons they show that coking is not an art for few people but an universe of products, processes, and also way of living, culture, social structure. Many of the learners discovered how to make the bread and found answers to their needs of special alimentation or simply got an idea for a different dinner. Our teachers lead step by step the learners, working on the same table, in the realization of the recipes which can be followed with the help of written lessons where the dishes are inserted into the local culture.
