suppliers, company, resellers, and final consumers.
 The systematic, strategic coordination of traditional business
functions and tactics across all business functions within a
particular company and across businesses within the supply
chain.
 Supply chain strategies require a total systems view of the
links in the chain that work together efficiently to create
customer satisfaction at the end point of delivery to the
consumer.
PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE MANAGEMENT :
PLM :
 Product Lifecycle Management is the process of
managing the entire lifecycle of product from inception,
through engineering design and manufacture, to service
and disposal of manufactured products.
 PLM describes the engineering aspect of a product, from
managing descriptions and properties of a product
through its development and useful life.
BUILDING BLOCKS OF SRM :
SRM :
 Supplier relationship management (SRM) is the systematic,
enterprise-wide assessment of supplier’s assets and
capabilities with respect to overall business strategy.
 It plans and executes all the interactions with suppliers in a
coordinated fashion .
 The focus of SRM is to develop two-way, mutually beneficial
relationships with strategic supply partners to deliver greater
levels of innovation and competitive advantage than could be
achieved by operating independently or through a traditional,
transactional purchasing arrangement.
WHAT IS ERP :
 Simplistic Definition:
Enterprise resource planning (ERP)
 Detailed Definition:
is business process management software that allows an
organization to use a system of integrated applications
to manage the business and automate many back office
functions related to technology, services and human
resources.
WHY ERP?
 The three letter acronym ‘ERP’ means
‘Enterprise Resource Planning’
Integration (Functional and Geographical Islands)
Best business practices (Whole suite of BPR may not
be required)
Standardization(Do it right first time and every time)
 Enables the integration of business processes and
systems to achieve enterprise-wide operational
efficiency.
ERP SOFTWARE MODULE
 ERP software typically consists of multiple enterprise
software modules that are individually purchased, based
on what best meets the specific needs and technical
capabilities of the organization.
 Each ERP module is focused on one area of business
processes, such as product development or marketing.
ERP SOFTWARE MODULE (CONT.):
 A business can use ERP software to manage back-office
activities and tasks including the following:
 Distribution process management
 Supply chain management
 Services knowledge base
 Prices
 Improve accuracy of financial data
 Facilitate better project planning
 Automate employee life-cycle
 Reduce redundant tasks
TOP ERP TRENDS :
1. Mobile ERP:
Executives and employees want real-time access to
information, regardless of where they are. It is expected
that businesses will embrace mobile ERP for the reports,
dashboards and to conduct key business processes.
2. Cloud ERP:
The cloud has been advancing steadily into the
enterprise for some time, but many ERP users have been
reluctant to place data cloud.
TOP ERP TRENDS(CONT.) :
3. Social ERP
There has been much hype around social media and
how important – or not -- it is to add to ERP systems.
Certainly, vendors have been quick to seize the initiative,
adding social media packages to their ERP systems with
much fanfare.
4. Two-tier ERP
Enterprises once attempted to build an all-
encompassing ERP system to take care of every aspect
of organizational systems. But some expensive failures
have gradually brought about a change in strategy –
adopting two tiers of ERP.
ERP DIAGRAM :
ERP VENDORS :
 Large Enterprise ERP (ERP Tier I) :
The ERP market for large enterprises is dominated by
three companies:
 SAP
 Oracle
 Microsoft.
ERP VENDORS(CONT.)
 Mid Market ERP (ERP Tier II) :
For the midmarket vendors include
 Infor
 QAD
 Lawson
 Epicor
 Sage
 IFS
ERP VENDORS(CONT.) :
 Small Business ERP (ERP Tier III) :
 Exact Globe
 Syspro
 NetSuite
 Visibility
 Consona
 CDC Software
 Activant Solutions
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (CRM) :
 The SAP CRM application is an integrated customer
relationship management (CRM) software manufactured
by SAP AG that targets business software requirements
of midsize and large organizations in all industries and
sectors.
SAP CRM :
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
(CRM) (CONT.) :
 SAP's CRM solution includes several modules that
support key functional areas including:
 SAP CRM Sales
 SAP CRM Marketing
 SAP CRM Service
 SAP CRM Analytics
 SAP CRM Interaction Center
 SAP CRM Web Channel (which includes E-Commerce,
E-Marketing and E-Service)
CRM (CONT.) :

SAP HANA
SAP HANA :
 SAP HANA combines database, data processing and application
platform capabilities in-memory.
 The platform provides libraries for predictive, planning, text
processing, spatial, and business analytics.
 It provides common database for online transactional
processing (OLTP) and online analytical processing(OLAP)
eliminating data redundancy and latency.
 Big Data warehousing SAP HANA unleashes the potential of big
data with its ability to handle large volumes and variety of
structured an d unstructured data in real-time.
COLLABORATION WITH ESRI :
 Esri is Environmental Systems Research Institute. It is an
international supplier of Geographic Information
System (GIS)
 SAP collaborated with mapping specialist Esri to provide
businesses with a geographical view of their data to help
improve decision-making.
 The aim is to provide a wealth of business and location
data on one screen, thereby avoiding the need for SAP's
customers to hunt for useful information in different
applications and databases.
COLLABORATION WITH ESRI :
 By harnessing Esri's geographic information system this
move will enable SAP application users to view business
data, such as work orders and asset performance, on a
map in real time
 With this system in place, users will be able monitor the
business processes and performance of individual sites,
projects and commercial units to make informed
decisions based on the data presented to them
 Users will also be able to access Esri data through SAP's
suite of mobile applications so business users can make
use of the mapping data in the field.
COLLABORATION WITH ESRI :
Steve Lucas, president of platform solutions at SAP, said
the move will provide business users with the
opportunity to make more profitable decisions based on
detailed data. "SAP and Esri are helping users improve
business efficiency and confidently anticipate what
comes next in order to guide better, more profitable,
forward-looking decision making
SAP BIG DATA DNA INITIATIVE :
 The Institute of Corporate Responsibility and
Sustainability (ICRS) is now in operation as the UK's first
professional body for people working in sustainability
and corporate responsibility (CR).
 "Anywhere between 20 and 40 per cent of all sea food,
you think you're eating one thing, and in fact you're
actually eating something different."
BIG DATA VS CROWD SOURCING:
 A 2012 Oceana report found that 39 per cent of 142 seafood
samples taken from various New York eateries and stores were
fraudulent. It happens in London and Paris as well. And when
you're paying £20 and up for a sea bass, you really do expect to
see the correct species on your plate.
 Big data could give brands much-needed clarity on this issue
though. The International Barcode of Life project aims to build
a worldwide database of DNA.
Through the Life Scanner mobile app everyday Smartphone
users and nature enthusiasts can collect DNA from a species
and send off the sample to a laboratory for testing, through the
SAP University Alliances initiative.
 The 2013 "Horsegate" scandal shook consumer confidence in
Tesco, ASDA and other UK supermarkets due to the discovery
of horsemeat in beef products. In May, British confectioner
Cadbury found itself in the spotlight when its products tested
positive for pork traces in Malaysia, upsetting the country's
Muslim population.
The technology also allows brands to identify cases of
overfishing, and enforce sanctions that remove the banned
species from their supply chains
