3. WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?
• Artificial intelligence (AI), sometimes called machine intelligence,
is intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence
displayed by humans.
• In computer science AI research is defined as the study of "intelligent agents": any
device that perceives its environment and takes actions that maximize its chance of
successfully achieving its goals. Colloquially, the term "artificial intelligence" is
applied when a machine mimics "cognitive" functions that humans associate with
other human minds, such as "learning" and "problem solving".
• In simple words, Artificial Intelligence is the capability of a machine to imitate
intelligent human behavior.
4. WHY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?
• Computers are fundamentally well suited to performing
mechanical computations, using fixed programming rules.
• Artificial machines perform simple monotonous tasks efficiently
and reliably which humans are ill-suited to do.
• Artificial Intelligence replicates decisions and actions of humans
without human shortcomings, such as fatigue, emotion and
limited time.
5. GOALS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
• To build systems that exhibit intelligent behavior
• To understand intelligence in order to model it
Today, we want AI systems to be better and smarter than we
are.
6. CURRENT STATUS OF AI
• AI have taken many shapes and forms over recent years:-
Mobile Phones (Siri, Google Assistant, Cortana)
Video Game Characters
GPS/Voice Recognition
Robotics
• Google has been a major player for AI transcendence and deep learning
Deep learning is a machine learning based on study of algorithms.
7. CHALLENGES TO AI
• Till date, all the traits of human Intelligence have not been
captured and applied together to spawn an intelligent artificial
creature.
• Currently Artificial Intelligence rather seems to focus on
lucrative domain specific applications, which do not
necessarily require the full extent of AI capabilities.
9. CONCLUSION
• Artificial intelligence (AI) is an area of computer science that
emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that work and
react like humans. We need AI in our lives to perform tasks
efficiently and in a short period of time.
• The ultimate goal of institutions and scientists working on AI is to
solve majority of the problems or to achieve the tasks which we
humans can’t achieve easily.
In artificial intelligence, an intelligent agent (IA) is an autonomous entity which observes through sensors and acts upon an environment using actuators (i.e. it is an agent) and directs its activity towards achieving goals .
