5 Benefits Of Holistic Programs
From research gathered from organisations it has become apparent that a holistic and
lifestyle approach is increasingly becoming more popular. This has become all-
important with the increase of cases of burnout, unhealthy employees and hectic
lifestyles, especially in more senior posts.
In the past, we have to show evidence to organisations on how holistic programs can
help increase employee engagement. This is a completely new concept as it mainly
focuses on improving people’s lifestyles, physical, mental and emotional well being
and a great tool for stress management.
There are lots of organisations coming to us with programs that have worked and not
worked in a bid to engage employees. Holistic programs have a gentle softly-softly
approach, which is proving very popular. For organisations it can lead to increase
profits, improved staff retention, reduced turnover and engaged employees.
These holistic programs are a win-win for both organisation and employee. Here are
some the reasons why, you as employee should choose to be engaged in looking at
our work.
1. Improved time management: Time is our biggest asset especially for more
senior positions, from research time has become one of the biggest challenges
that lead to work/life issues, hectic lifestyles and increase stress levels.
2. Improve physical and mental well-being: Executives take their health for
granted, what they fail to recognize is health is your most important asset that
we can have. Denis Waitley quotes: “Time and health are two precious assets
that we don’t recognize and appreciate until they are depleted”. Studies have
found a reduction in blood pressure, cholesterol and stress levels.
3. Achieving peak performance: Studies in employee engagement shows that
employees that are engaged outclass their peers. Engaged employees not only
work harder but smarter producing outstanding results. This helps to push for
promotion, climb the corporate ladder and earn more money.
You don’t have to completely devote your life to work compromising
work/life balance. Many that are engaged describe it as “having a fantastic day
at work”. If you become fully engaged it allows you to maximise your
working day whilst feeling energized and committed.
4. Happiness: We as
human beings were
created to search for
happiness. For some
you can be happy but
not fully engaged. If
you are fully engaged
and in tuned then you
can achieve fulfilment
and happiness. Holistic programs should be based around 5 fundamental
elements clarity, balance, growth, impact and connection. I believe once you
have achieved these, our overall state of happiness increases.
5. Better home life: “I have work life and home life, which never mix” Well
that’s Bulls**t. You can’t live two separate lives, what affects you personally
will have a knock on effect professionally, making you become disengaged.
Our holistic programs have found that employees that are fully engaged at
work are also engaged outside of work.
Choosing to be engaged allows us to experience better time management,
improvements to physical/mental well-being, peak performance, happiness and a
better home life. So the bottom line is to be fully engaged you have to make the
choice, no one can force us to be engage, your organisation can only set the culture.
Only then you can reap the personal benefits that holistic programs have to offer.
Do you have any personal benefits and experience of holistic programs that
improve employee engagement? Please share them and feel free to comment and
share this blog, any feedback is greatly received or follow this blog and look out
