1. CASA-25: Variable Bypass
Turbofan Engine for
Supersonic Business Jet
Awarded First in International AIAA/ASME
Design Competition
Problem: Design a supersonic variable bypass
turbofan for future supersonic business jet
Final Design: Dual spool mix flow low bypass
ratio variable cycle turbofan. Huge leap in
performance with lower emission and noise
level. Design included: Helmhotz resonators and
piezo-ceramic actuators, titanium LE and
composite fan blades, active blade tip clearance,
patented lobe mixer and variable C-D nozzle

2. J.E.T.T. Jayhawk
Economical Turboprop
Transport
First in International AIAA Design Competition
Overview: Proposal design for future turboprop-
powered passenger aircraft
Design features:
• Shrouded turboprop for reduce noise
• Wind-fold mechanism allowing wing span
extension (increase aspect ratio) for fuel saving
• Pressure adaptive honeycomb structures and
Prandtl-Tailored wingtips for weight and drag
reduction

3. Bio-Inspired
Airspeed Sensor
Problem: Design an airspeed sensor for
high angles of attack and sideslip use,
suitable for UAVs.
Solution: Inspired from the Peregrin
Falcon’s nose, an airspeed probe
prototype was manufactured and wind
tunnel tested with optimistic results.
The Bio-Inspired airspeed sensor is
currently undergoing flight testing and
design adjustment for final product
manufacturing.
