WeWork has been in the news currently but I decided to research more about the impacts the company has, and featuring my opinions towards them. I hope this presentation is informative as much as it was to my Driving Digital Media for Business class.
2. ABOUT
“Create a world where people work to make a life, not just a living”
(WeWork Companies Inc.).
Launched in 2010, for the purpose of building not only a beautiful, shared office
spaces. WeWork became a place where redefining success is measured by personal
fulfillment, and community is your catalyst.

4. Helping Businesses
“WeWork has been shown to have a positive effect—
helping new businesses grow and thrive; adding
vibrancy and economic activity to neighborhoods;
and powering the innovation economy in cities”
(WeWork Companies Inc.).
In 2018, WeWork invested $4.2 million into 22 businesses
and granted $1.7 million to 24 non-for-profit organizations
(WeWork Companies Inc.). Membership of companies with
over 1,000 employees increased by 200 percent. WeWork’s
annual employees get together event happen twice a year
to allow everyone to learn about each other. 8,000
employees participated in traveling to London for the 2018
Global Summit.
MY OPINION
WeWork sets a significant example to how
companies should give back to the
communities they are located in. In my
opinion, their strategy helps current and
future employees be able to communicate
with each other better than most
networking events happening today. With
this, I see WeWork becoming a place for
employees of other businesses to hangout in
order to collaborate ideas and fix problems
in politics, the economy, and marketplace.
5. Workplace of the Future
WeWork senior manager of mobility and product
development Corinne Murray says, “everyone needs
a home, but not everyone needs a desk”,” team
homes give people a place to connect to their team,
a place to show up in the morning, and to feel that
they have an anchor” (Sullivan and Leonard).
WeWork realized that employees spent 60 to 70 percent of
their time at meetings than at their desk (Sullivan and
Leonard). Therefore, WeWork’s “Team Homes” function as
shared meeting sites for teams to filter through every day.
This experiment at their New York HQ will be transitioned
to their other locations also to better test how employees
interact with the surroundings they are in.
MY OPINION
Congratulations to WeWork in making a
more involved work environment available
to not only Google employees ! From my
work experience, employers have not
changed much of their workplaces
especially the physical elements. It is great
to hear WeWork replaced desk and
computer layouts to Starbuck’s
arrangements that are more helpful to
employees at work.
