This document summarizes experiments for a game project. It describes 5 objects that could be used in the game: 1) a black ghost that needs to be caught, 2) a brightly colored friendly ghost for a jumping puzzle, 3) a starry background for depth, 4) blocks for the ghost to jump on, 5) a green floor where the ghost starts. It also mentions a 6th object, a gold heart to make the character immortal. The document concludes by reflecting that dark colors and horror elements will be kept for the final product, and the game concept was changed from flappy bird to pacman style.
2. Process
• These are my production experiments, as you can see I
have five objects that I might use in my game.
• The 1st object is a ghost/ this is the thing the character
needs to try and catch. The ghost is black instead of
white because it shows the darkness that is in the ghost.
• The 2nd object is a ghost, this ghosts job is to try and
jump along the jumping puzzle. I gave the ghost a bright
colour because I wanted to show that this ghost is
friendly.
• The 4th object is the blocks that ghost jump on , these
blocks allow the ghost to jump on and transport himself
to another place on the map. This is the only route the
ghost could use. This could be easier for some people as
they know what rout to take and how far they need to
jump.
• The 3rd object is the background, this background gives
the game some depth instead of a plain background
which would be very boring. I added these stars in to
make it more interesting. The stars are grey because I
want them to stand out in the dark background that is
behind it, not all the stars are the same size.
• The 6th object is a gold heart, I have made a gold heart
because if the ghost collects this then he can live
forever, or he can use it for cosmetic reasons to make
the character look cool, like putting it in the middle of
himself.
• The 5th object is the floor, this is what the ghost will be
starting on, I chose green because it shows that you are
outside. I like these colours because they are not to
bright but also not very dark. Green also matches well
with the other colours like the grey and brown.
• The tools I used to create these things where the pencil
tool. This is the most easiest way create these things
because you can place your pixels individually
3. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product? The main elements I will include in my
final experiments will be the dark colours and mainly colours that have connotations to darkness and
anger and destruction, this is because I want to create a horror game that is spooky but is still fun to enjoy.
I want to keep the pixel side to this game which will most definitely keep the fun side to the game
– I decided to change my game overall from a flappy bird
style of game to a pacman style of game, this is because I
felt making a flappy bird style would be to easy
