   Sandy Bridge (32nm)  Ivy Bridge (22nm)
   USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt
 AMD
   Bulldozer  Piledriver
3D Transistors
 Tri-gate transistors replace flat, two-dimensional
  streams of transistors with a 3D structure.

 The technology will allow Intel to create transistors that
  are faster (37%), smaller and more power-efficient
  (50%).
Processors - Smartphones
 Quad-core processors
 Performance comparable to desktops
 Better battery life
 Nvidia
   Tegra 3
 Qualcomm
   Snapdragon S4
Motorola ATRIX
Moore’s Law
 The ability for more powerful chips to be produced at a
  cheaper price every eighteen months.



 It’s possible because distance between the pathways
  inside silicon chips gets smaller with each successive
  generation.
End of Moore’s Law
The shrinking will eventually hit a limit.


   The three driving forces are size, heat, and power.

   The chip pathways are unable to be shorter than a
     molecule.

   The risk of quantum tunneling occurring.
Technological Footprint
 According to Moore's law there will be a time when we
  reach the smallest usable footprint.



 It hasn’t occurred yet, but we are getting closer to reaching
  it.



 Some say it will happen in the near future.
   One person estimated the time will be around 2023.

  unison

 Ubiquitous computing- information processing is
  integrated into everyday objects

 Grid computing- enables multiple computers working
  together to solve a problem
Are future products beneficial
 to the business community?
 We think these products will be effective
 Products will help businesses survive and thrive
 More advanced, faster products will help to complete
  work & tasks
