1. Task 1-Investigate the uses of web animation
Banner ads
This banner add is
animated so that the text in the blue cycles through different things, this helps to make the
advertisement look more professional.
Animated interface elements
The Simpsons website uses an
animated interface. When the user clicks on one of the navigation buttons a short animation will
play where the camera pans to a new stall and something funny happens and the camera then
zooms in to where the user can start to use that certain part of the website.
Linear animations
This is an example of how The Simpsons website
uses linear animation. They use a spinning doughnut to pass time as the website loads, also, the pink
doughnut and the “Mmmm…” are related to Homer Simpsons character as “Mmmm” is one of his
catchphrases and his favourite food are doughnuts.

2. Interactive animations
In some, if not all of the character
profiles are interactive animation which do different things, some play a small animation of
something happening, other plays small minigames, this is good because it keeps people entertained
and will make them want to view all the pages.
Promotion
This is an animated
promotional video which is very well made and gives a good impression of the thing that is being
promoted and it also makes it look very professional.

3. Instruction
This is a list of instructions on how to build a paper
airplane with an animated thing next to them showing the user how to actually do it. This is actually
very useful because it is normally easy to do something if you can see it being done first hand.
Information
This animation shows the
viewer information on how automatic taps work, it is a very simple animation but it is quite effective
by giving only relevant information in an easy to understand way.

4. Entertainment
This is a mini game that can
be found on The Simpsons website. The user controls the slingshot and has to shoot the targets that
come past the screen, when the player moves the mouse it moves the slingshot and when they click
it fires a rock, when the rock hits a target it knock it down.
