CROW’S FIELD SCREENPLAY
FADE. ECU. – ASTON UNIVERSITY – MORNING
Mia Summers placing her tea on a coffee table gently. Mia then going on to drinking it
slowly and calmly.
FADE. CONTIINUED.
Mia Summers properly dressed up in her everyday casual-formal wear, walking towards
the door carelessly; rearing to go to her first morning class.
MS. CONTINUED.
Meanwhile walking, she goes to grab her dormitory keys to lock the door behind her and
happily make her way to her Journalism class.
FADE. ES. – BUS STOP – MORNING
Bus drives past exposing Mia waiting at the bus stop, where Mia is slightly rushed in
autumn surroundings. Consistently rearing to get to class, Mia carries her text books
and school belongings.
LAS. – BUS SEATING – MORNING
Mia Summers listens to her music on her phone, contempt and distant in her own
thoughts whilst looking out the window.
FADE. LS. – ASTON UNIVESITY - MORNING
The teaching professor greets Mia as she quietly enters the class, slightly nervous
and glancing back in response.
TEACHER/ PROFESSOR.
“Morning Miss Summers.”
ECU. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers swiftly writes the date and title of ‘Assignment’ whilst quietly listening
to music, repeatedly looking up to show her attention to the class topic.
FADE. ECU. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers thinks of ideas for an intriguing and unique practice journalism article/
essay. Tap-tap-tapping away with her pencil, she ponders greatly in depth. 'Half-
Hanged Mary' article becomes apparent to Mia Summers as she skim reads pages and pages
on her computer screen.
OTS. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers scrolls down an article written about Brooke Evans, a 7 year old mental
health patient.
ECU. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers reads "Children's Mental Health Institute" mentioned on one of the
articles she finds, intrigued and focused.

Mia Summers eyes pace across the computer screen fully aware and engaged in her new,
obscure idea; jotting down spots of information.
ECU. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers finds footage and picture evidence of Brooke Evans ‘lashing out’ in one of
her interviews. She shows no consideration for her anger but more focused on the
evidence she could get for her assignment.
FADE. ES. – CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTE/ HHOSPITAL – MID-DAY
FADE. OTS + HAS. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers is denied access for an interview between her and Brooke Evans.
RECEPTIONST.
“She is not accepting visitors today.”
FADE. LS. - CONFERENCE ROOM – MID-DAY
Brooke Evans sits in the corner of the white conference room, almost as if she is
terrified and isolated. Depressed and agitated.
HAS. CONTINUED.
Camera Footage is shown of Brooke Evans in the same positions consistently.

Camera Footage is shown of Mia Summers and Brooke Evans sitting opposite, both showing
clear signs of uneasiness.

MIA SUMMERS
“Hi Brooke Evans, I’m Mia…”
LAS. CONTINUED.
The present observer leaves the room answering the phone; carelessly therefore
portraying the run-down formation of the institute.
MS. CONTINUED.
Brooke Evans mumbles an on-going ritual that goes on to grab Mia Summers attention as
she tries to observe her acting for her assignment. Remaining focused and engaged on
her journalistic ways.
ECU. CONTINUED.
Brooke Evans’ lips mumble on and on repeatedly.

Mia Summers tries to communicate hesitantly.

“Were you abandoned…?”

Mia Summers places her phone voice recorder down with intentions to gain as much
information and evidence to present and advance in her class. She shows journalistic
dedication and aspiration.
BROOKE EVANS
“9PM
The bonnets come true to stare, the dark skirts also; the upturned faces in between,
mouths closed so tight they’re lipless. I can see down into their eyeholes and
nostrils. I can see their fear!”
POV. CONTINUED.
Brooke Evans grabs Mia Summers hand sharply and roughly with a sense of agitation.
BROOKE EVANS
“Birds of a feather burn together, though as a rule Crow’s are singular.”
ECU. CONTINUED.
Brooke Evans’ eyes glare into Mia’s going to create a tense atmosphere and scaring Mia
Summers greatly, as if she’s seen a ghost.
ECU: BROOKE EVANS FACE. CONTINUED.
BROOKE EVANS
“She wants revenge!”
RS. + MS CONTINUED.
Mia Summers cautiously replies.
MIA SUMMERS
“Who wants revenge?”
FADE. HAS. - CONFERENCE ROOM – MID-DAY
Camera Footage is shown of Brooke Evans lashing out agitated and frustrated with her
environment and her own mind.

Mia Summers shoulders are held by Brooke roughly and swiftly as if she needs help from
‘Half-Hanged Mary’s’ torments.

FADE. LAS. – ASTON UNIVERSITY DORMITORY - NIGHT
Mia Summers enters her bathroom in pyjamas unaware of any danger that could possibly
happen around her; ready to wash and get comfortable and ready for bed.
MS. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers looks in the mirror and gussies up, checking herself out for any
blemishes, also consistently unaware of any tension.
OTS. CONTINUED.
Mia Summers see’s 'Mary' in the mirror behind her and reacts confused and terrified;
second guessing her vision and minds-self.
OAS. CONTINUED.
Mary grabs Mia Summers' mouth laughing and smiling.
‘HALF’HANGED MARY’
“Before, I was not a witch. But now I am one.”
FADE. ES. – BABBS MILL FIELD – MORNINIG.
Mia Summers stands in a field alone, worried and isolated.
FADE. POV. – ASTON UNIVERSITY DORMITORY - NIGHT
Mia Summers suffocates on her bed, whilst grasping at her neck for any help; trying to
call somebody.
NARRATOR
“When they came to harvest my corpse (open your mouth, close your eyes) cut my body
from the rope, surprise, surprise, I was still alive.”
FADE. CU. – BABBS MILL FIELD – MORNINIG.
Mia Summers stands in the field isolated and vulnerable.
FADE. CU. - CONFERENCE ROOM – MID-DAY
Brooke Evans speaks lines from ‘Half-Hanged Mary’s’ story.
FADE. ECU. – BABBS MILL FIELD – MORNINIG.
Mia Summers eyes become apparent with no glasses, creating a struggle for Mia’s vision
and her capability.

Mia Summers lifts her phone to take a picture, whilst thoroughly shaking in fear. A
dark figure is shown in the distance walking towards Mia creating a tense and
petrifying atmosphere for Mia Summers.

Mia Summers’ phone screen captures footage of the figure walking towards her slowly.

NARRATOR
“Holiness gleams on my dirty fingers, I eat floes and dung, two forms of the same
thing, I eat mice and give thanks, blasphemies gleam and burst in my wake like lovely
bubbles. I speak tongues to my audience.”
Mary speeds up towards Mia building upmost tension and scare.
