different lines and shapes.
Lines and shapes are two
basic elements used form
the features of a portrait
drawing.
3. Lines
A line is a continuous mark made on a surface by
moving from one point to another.
Two main kinds of lines:
Straight line – is drawn in one direction and does not
bend.
Curved line – is drawn in different directions and can
be bent.
4. Kinds of Straight Line
Horizontal Lines – are drawn from left to right or right to left
across the surface. This lines suggest feeling of calmness and
rest. They make an object appear lying down or asleep.
5. Kinds of Straight Line
Vertical Lines – are drawn from top to
bottom. These lines help create the
feeling of stability, independence,
and strength. They also help make
an object appear taller or narrower.
6. Kinds of Straight Line
Diagonal Lines – are drawn from left
to right or right to left in a slanting
position. These lines express
movement or action. They make
something appear falling or rising
7. Kinds of Curved Lines
Concave lines – are lines that
curved or rounded inward like
inside of a bowl.
Convex lines – are lines that are curve
or rounded outward like the outside o
a ball.
8. Kinds of Curved Lines
Spiral lines – are lines that are winding or circling
around a center and seems gradually moving away
or moving closer to it.

Wavy lines – are slightly curved lines alternately
going up and down, or from right to left.
10. Shapes
Is an enclosed area or space
that has height and width.
There are two types of shapes
Geometric shapes –
are exact
mathematical shape.
Organic shapes – are
irregular shapes like
those found in nature.
