  5. 5. 1744 • Sotheby’s Auction House Founded Since the founding of the Sotheby’s Auction House in 1744 as an auction bookseller, the Sotheby’s name has earned renown as a marketer of the world’s most valuable and fine possessions. 1969 • Amelia Bullock Realtors Founded Amelia Bullock founded Amelia Bullock Realtors in her home, growing the company from three friends working together to more than 80 agents just 45 years later. In 1970, Barbara Wallace joined forces with Bullock and they formed Amelia Bullock Realtors, Inc. The brand quickly became known in Austin as a preeminent residential real estate company that held the values of fairness, integrity and dependability in the highest regard. By 1976, their staff had doubled, and they opened the first official office in Northwest Hills. 1972 • Kuper Realty Corporation Founded Kuper Realty Corporation was founded as a commercial brokerage and later expanded its services to include residential real estate, specializing in the upscale market. Kathleen Kuper joined her husband and son with the intention of establishing the best service- oriented, residential real estate firm in the city. The residential sales grew as a result of her success, expanding the company from six sales associates in 1981 to 107 full-time associates in 2014. 1976 • Sotheby’s International Realty® Established Founded on the same commitment to exceptional service that characterized the Sotheby’s Auction House for more than two centuries, the Sotheby’s International Realty® brand was launched and became known around the world for the distinctive properties it represented. 1978 • Kuper Realty Becomes Sotheby’s International Realty® Affiliate Kuper Realty Corporation was recognized by being named the exclusive affiliate of Sotheby’s Realty® for San Antonio, combining their local success with the international marketing and referral power of Sotheby’s International Realty® . 2003 • Capital City Sotheby’s International Realty Founded Capital City Sotheby’s International Realty was launched by owners Jonathan Creath and Doug and Mary Land to fill the need for a brokerage that offered personalized service, long-term relationships, plus had a truly international marketing reach. 2012 • Kuper & Capital City Create Strategic Partnership With Merger A new strategic partnership was formed when Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty merged the San Antonio brokerage with the Austin brokerage. 2014 • Kuper, Capital City, & Amelia Bullock Become One Brokerage Owner J Kuper acquired Austin-based real estate firm, Amelia Bullock Realtors, to create a new Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty firm, which includes all the offices in Austin and San Antonio, including those previously under the Capital City Sotheby’s International Realty brand.
