On Wednesday, Feb. 11, the Northern Lights Health Foundation hosted their Stakeholder Reception, Sharing our Story: Celebrating 30 Years of Impact.
During the event, they shared this presentation with guests which showcases a small selection of the equipment, programs and services that they've funded over the years thanks to the generous support of the Wood Buffalo community.

Inner-City Homeless Health Initiative
The Inner-City Homeless Population’s
Health Improvement Project serves to
better the health of our inner-city homeless
population through improving their access
to available health care services.

Central monitoring system
The Central Monitoring System plays a
significant role in critical patient care,
providing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff
with the ability to easily monitor patient
vital signs, including temperature,
oxygen, heart rate, blood pressure and
respiration .

Women’s Wellness Initiative
The Women’s Wellness Initiative
aided in identifying gaps in women’s
wellness in our community. Many
programs were conceived out of this
initiative focusing on preconception
health, prenatal care, postnatal care
and mental health.

Ears, nose and throat (ENT) chair
The ENT chair is used by Emergency
Department staff to treat patients for a
number of different injuries to eyes, ears,
noses and throats.

Teen Sexual Health Clinic
The Teen Sexual Health Clinic
provides youth with a safe, comfortable
and confidential environment to seek
proactive, preventative care related to
their sexual health.

FRIENDS for Life
The FRIENDS for Life Program aims to
build children's self esteem and teach
coping mechanisms for life's stresses.
The program is available across Canada
and is the only childhood anxiety prevention
program acknowledged by the World
Health Organization.

Adopt-a-Grandparent and Intergenerational BINGO
The Adopt-a-Grandparent program encourages
local youth to form friendships with Continuing
Care residents, through doing a variety of fun
activities together such as arts and crafts, going for
walks and reading.
Intergenerational BINGO encourages local youth to
set up and prepare BINGO that is adapted to fit the
Continuing Care residents’ varying abilities.

AHS mental health symposiums
The 2013 and 2014 AHS Mental Health
Symposiums provided resources and support
to health care professionals, parents and
guardians in Wood Buffalo.
The upcoming 2015 Brain Game
Symposium will discuss child brain
development, and its connection to mental
health and addiction.

Audiology Navigator Pro
The Audiology Navigator Pro aids our local
Audiologist n diagnosing a variety of hearing
conditions and disorders.
This provides them the means to do hearing
tests on children in our community, rather than
having them travel to Edmonton.
