1. PROJECT 2B
DESIGN PROCESS JOURNAL
Design process is a project specially designed for the
preparation of project 2B as in this journal, students are able
to explore their lego character, design 2D artworks with
keywords and lastly transform 2D to 3D model.
CHARACTER EXPLORATION
Explore the character in order to come out with several keywords that
suites the character.
2D ARTWORK DESIGN
Choose the suitable keywords and do a 2D paper collage artwork
3D MOBILE DESIGN
A pin up tutorial session is held as students show their
proposal of ideas of 3D mobile and work with mock-ups.
2. PROJECT 2B
HANGING MOBILE
This is the final project for Introduction to Design. In this project, we are required to
find a lego character of our choice, explore on the character, find a keyword and
design a 3D hanging mobile that suites the characteristic of the character.
Upon submission, we need to have 3 A2
presentation board, a pedestal to put our
DPJ and progress mock ups, and our final
model. During the presentation, we were
given 5 minutes to do a verbal presentation.
3. 3 A2 presentation board consist of the concept, keyword and autographic drawing.
Pedestal for DPJs and mock-ups.
Final mobile with the keyword ‘UNBOUNDED’ for the
character ULTRON
4. This project is actually for us to learn on how to transform 2D drawing to
3D model step by step.
Tutorial work that is done in class
within 4 weeks. First week started
from drawing 2D plans to make
mock ups using model boards, then
polystyrene and cardboards, lastly
is the materials of our own choice.
5. PROJECT 2A
HANGING MOBILE EXPLORATION
In this project, we are required to explore a given
keyword and do a 3D hanging mobile as the preparation
for us to face our project 2B. The keyword my group
got is protrude. Also, we had been given a name of a
famous architect and from there we have to
investigate and interpret the architect's
characteristics and portrait it in our model. The
architect that we had been given in Steven Holl.
In this project, we actually had in class activity where we will
explore the keyword and architect then do the models step by step.
Other than the model, we also had to do 2 presentation boards to
explain our final model and our architect.
6. The design principles that we used are pattern,
dominance, balance asymmetry, movement, unity,
rhythm, radial, dynamic and random.
Progress work to investigate plastic tube so that we can
find the most suitable theme.
7. PROJECT 1B
DAILY ITEMS ARTWORK
This is the project for us to investigate and understand design
principles. In this project, we are required to create 9 artworks using a
specific daily life object that is distributed by our lecturer. Also, we have
a range of base given by our lecturer and we have to choose only one
from the list and our group choose rubber sheet. Apart from the
artworks, we also have to do 2 presentation boards explaining our
concepts, materials and design principles.
The tittle of our artworks are inside out as
we wanted to portray the elasticity of
plastic tubes and how rubber sheet effect
plastic tube when plastic tube is passed
through the rubber sheet, in and out.
8. PROJECT 1A
THE 10 ARTWORK
In this project, we are required to draw 8 A5 drawings of built and natural
environmentand 2 A4 drawings of abstract arts. We are asked to observe the
natural and built environments than sketch out the special features of each
element. For the 8 drawings, we must have sketches that represent lines, shape,
form and hue and texture one each for natural environment and built
environment. As for the abstract art, we need to change natural environment to
built environment and vice versa.
In order for us to capture the pictures that we can sketch,
we had a site visit to KLCC park where all of our sketches
have to come from there. Then we need to choose 8
pictures that is suitable to draw and also, we need to
provide a diagram of explanation on how we interpret this
sketch and what element do it has.
ABSTRACT ART SKETCHES FOR NATURAL
SKETCHES FOR BUILT ENVIRONMENT
