To Whom It May Concern,
Recommendation letter for Ms Amira Abu Kabar
I am writing to inform you that Ms Amira Abu Kabar worked as a fulltime programmer
subcontracted to LimitState Ltd from 2006-08. She helped us to develop cross-platform
engineering analysis software using C++, Qt4 and OpenInventor. The software developed
(e.g. LimitState:RING and LimitState:GEO) is now in worldwide use.
We collaborated remotely with the help of the web-based Trac collaborative environment (wiki
/ ticket / subversion portal). I have also met Ms Abu Kabar whilst in Damascus. She is a
thoughtful and highly intelligent individual with extremely strong programming skills, and has
proved to be a very valuable asset to the team. She also speaks very good English.
Within the team Ms Abu Kabar’s principal areas of responsibility were for object serialization
(using XML) and for the development of pre-processor macros to minimize the code other
developers needed to write to give end-users access to object properties (via a ‘property
editor’ and ‘explorers’). She also wrote report output classes (generating files in HTML, PDF
and RTF formats) and was also happy to help other developers working on other parts of the
code when necessary. In part thanks to her efforts we now have an extremely powerful and
flexible software framework, which we plan to utilise for new applications in the future. In
conclusion I would wholeheartedly recommend her to other potential employers.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
Yours faithfully,
Matthew Gilbert
