The group raised money to donate to Wheels4Life. The money that was raised would be used to purchase bikes in a third-world country. Using a bike as a means of transportation means it benefits our environment by not polluting the air, and benefits our health as a form of exercise.

2. Project Proposal
• Sustainability topic: What does student transportation look like? How to minimize our
impact on the environment and on our health.
• Create a simple short survey to hand out in our classes asking students of their
mode of transportation, gas mileage, usage per week, and thought process in
choosing it.
• After gathering data, create a blog and post our findings as well as any related and
useful information about green transportation.
• Begin writing an article based on our data collected, to submit to Ke Kalahea and/or
local newspapers.
• Look into participating at a campus event, Earth Day, or Downtown Hilo
• Ask SAC about promoting a schoolwide “Carpool Day”
3. Group Contract
• The mission of Move Your Feet to Change the Heat is to raise money that would be
donated toward a charity, preferably Wheels4Life. Our team is passionate about
making a difference in another person’s life. We believe that the amount of money
we raise will definitely benefit someone in need. We are committed to staying in
constant communication with one another via emailing, texting, or phone calling
each other to help achieve our goal. We will value and respect one another’s
opinions, beliefs, ideas, and commitment levels. We will do our best to work together
even when it means reshaping or reforming our path toward our goal.
• We will volunteer and agree upon the tasks of each member of our group during our
meetings. We will follow up with each other for accountability. We will encourage
and praise one another for success and accomplishments. We will inspire each other
for improvements and challenges. We will seek to help and not discourage or
pressure. We plan to make this a memorable experience as we have fun together.
5. Our Fundraiser
Rather than spending an entire day
carrying pounds of rice for miles, a
father in a third-world country can
pack triple the amount of food on a
bike to save time and energy.
Our goal is to raise $1000 by the end
of the semester to donate to
Wheels4Life, which will give bikes to 9
families in a third-world country.

7. Our Community Event
We volunteered at Relay for Life
as an opportunity to help the
American Cancer Society and
also to bring awareness of our
group project on our UHH
campus!
8. Rachelʻs creative art on display. All Relay
for Life participants had to choose a
mission for the night which we needed to
provide information. We chose Kidney
Cancer and Princess and the Frog to make
it a GREEN event!
Laura worked her magic to attract
participants to play the Corn Hole game
that she made from scratch. Rachel
painted the Corn Hole by hand.
