4. Persons under the age
of 21 should NEVER
be used to interpret.
5. If a physician or staff
member is bilingual
and 100% comfortable
communicating directly
with the patient in their
preferred language, that
is acceptable. Bilingual
physicians and staff
should not be used to
INTERPRET unless
they have been quali-
fied/approved by Lan-
guage Services.
For More Information Call
- 562-3734 (office) or 649-
8317 (cell)
1. Allow your patient to
tell you which language
they prefer for MEDI-
CAL information. Eng-
lish may be ok for basic
instructions but for
medical history and
consents a qualified
interpreter needs to be
used.
2. Don’t forget to docu-
ment interpreter usage,
this applies to consents
as well as any patient
care documentation.
A) Face to Face
Interpreter – Interpreter
needs to sign all documents
interpreted by them and
signed by patient including
discharge instructions.
They also need to include
the language interpreted
and their agency if applica-
ble. Examples: Jessica Cano
– Staff Span.Int. or Misha
Pokhrel – Catholic Charities
Nepali Interpreter.
B) Video Remote
Interpreter (American Sign
Language) or Over the
phone interpreter – Both
the interpreter ID and lan-
guage interpreted need to
be documented. Example:
Nepali #654321 or ASL
#207916
3. Friends and family
members should not be
used to interpret medi-
cal information. This
includes questions
about the patient’s
medical history.

Payroll
Please don’t forget to check
your time in KRONOS before
payroll Monday. This helps us to
make sure your time is accurate
BEFORE payroll closes. It is
easier to fix your time before
payroll closes than to have to
do a payroll adjustment with the
possibility of waiting until the
next check for your money.
If you need help getting
access to inside chi please
call 1-866-236-0441.
If you have any payroll
questions, please call 1-888

If you need a payroll adjust-
ment and Amy is not here.

The video techs should be the
first ones to call when there is
an issue with equipment so they
can evaluate it before we send a
work order to biomed/
engineering.
With the opening of the new
work room for the video techs,
they would like for me to make
sure you are aware of their
expanded roles. They want to
help us keep our equipment in
good repair and working order.
If you find a piece of equipment
that is not working or is giving
you problem, please let them
know as soon as you can, you
can call them to the room if you
need to explain what is going
wrong. They will then evaluate
the equipment and let you know
if it may be something they can
fix or if it will require others.
They can tell you if they can
enter a work order or if you
need to and who it would go to.
I think this will help greatly in a
faster turn around for any
items that may break down.
They are also willing to get
equipment that you might need
for a case. If you are in the
middle of a case and things
change, you need additional
equipment they will help by
bringing it to you if you call
them. If it is something from
the HCOC they might be able
to bring it to us. Please use
them to help.
The new mens room is open
and everyone needs to stop by
and see Jill to claim a lock. (It is
first come, First serve) She will
provide you a sticker with your
name on it.
Please remember to check
your time in KRONOS BE-
FORE you get paid.
KyOne has an employee recog-
nition page. https://

You should have received an email
with a user name and password for
this site. You will be able to log in and
encourage one another. Use this site
to recognize KentuckyOne Health
employees statewide: the difference
makers, significant contributors and
those who uphold the standards of
excellence of our organization. A few
kind words go a long way, so share
them generously!
Please remember that the spe-
cialty instrument sets that are
labeled “Must be Counted” is a
department policy. Counting
these uniquely identified sets
before and after the case is
required and not an option.
Regardless of whether or not
the set was missing instruments
when it was opened, the objec-
tive is to return the set to
Satellite SPD with the same
number of instruments that
were there when it was
opened.

to get health stream access. After completion of the didactic portion the in-
dividual should make an appointment and be monitored on the skills.
Jenny Zettwoch can help you with getting access. EXT: 2273 Give her a call to
find out your due date. If you get your CPR from outside the hospital, please
let Jenny know so she can get a copy to HR.

Not one single CAUTI was
identified for the OR in
the month of
July! Yay! However, we
did see a significant in-
crease of CAUTI's thru
the house. Yuck! Thank
you for your hard work
and being diligent with
your insertion technique.
Please remember do not
place the Foley bag on
the floor or up on the pa-
tient's belly. Germs from
the floor can migrate up
the emptying spout. Do
not let your spout touch a
dirty surface when empty-
ing it into a container be-
cause of the migration of
germs up the emptying
spout. Please! No foley
catheter bags up on the
pt's belly or bed. Pt's
develop a biofilm on the
foley catheter after inser-
tion of the foley. If there
is any bacteria that at-
taches itself to the
biofilm, it will be back-
washed into the bladder
and can cause even fur-
ther migration of bacte-
ria. There is a miscon-
ception that having that
bag up on the belly for
just a second can't hurt
anything. WRONG!!!!
Remember....changing
just one step in our proc-
esses can change a pa-
tients outcome for the
better or the worse!!
