Senior Campaign Strategist, Amnesty International USA July 2008 – January 2013
Lead the development and implementation of multiple high level campaigns and programs that increased AIUSA’s media visibility, fundraising,
actions and political cache. Developed and implemented campaign strategies around complex human rights policy issues that increase market
visibility and interest with multiple audiences. Built locally based constituent committees to lead new state based human rights advocacy and
legislation efforts. Developed partnerships with external organizations and global Amnesty sections to strengthen organization’s campaigning
strategies, member engagement programs and human rights policies. As a Senior Director, I managed and coached staff, helped develop
foundation proposals, wrote quarterly board reports, reconciled department budgets, lead executive change management processes and shaped
new administrative policies. Promoted three times in four and a half years: Organizing Director; Stop Violence Against Women Campaign Director.
Highlights:
Developed a youth led campaign on the Arms Trade Treaty generating 35,000 online supporters and raising $150K in three months.
Brought in CREDO Mobile to partner generating a total of 65,000 signatures to the White House.
Partnered with NAACP and ColorofChange.org to generate Troy Davis online-offline campaign using new strategies for engagement. Troy
Davis trended on twitter and generated 110,000 new volunteers for the coalition to end the death penalty.

the trade union and increased the union’s bargaining position. Developed and implemented the union endorsement process for political candidates
running for (re)election through direct PAC contributions, volunteer/staff time and campaign development. Led various external political, policy
and advocacy committees to support contract negotiations, amplify public support and media visibility for key state wide economic issues. Lobbied
the New York Congressional Delegation and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus on behalf of the union’s national policy agenda concerning

Highlights:
Developed a state wide political program; bringing together 200+ members from the garment and hotel industry to lobby congress on top
union policy issues.
Led the union, political and community partnerships on immigration reform, paid sick leave and the Save the Garment Center campaign

Assistant Director, Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, AFL-CIO June 1999 – July 2003
Directed a 60+ chapter based organization representing the policy interests of 2 million AFL-CIO Latino trade union members on critical issues
affecting Latino working families. Developed and promoted the organization’s policy on trade agreements, pay equity, remittances, immigration
reform, US-Mexico border issues, telecommunications and red-lining, voter laws and census outreach initiatives. Amplified the organization’s
visibility in national education conferences, international delegations, non-partisan voter education campaigns and Spanish language media
outreach. Grew the organization’s city based chapters through strategic fundraising initiatives that brought targeted education efforts to Latino
communities.
Highlights:
Implemented non-partisan GOTV campaigns and issue based programs to increase Latino engagement and voting numbers in key low
performing districts. Kick-started a competitive program through Bank of America to provide alternative remittance services other than
Western Union as part of a larger campaign to reduce remittance fees.
Built LCLAA’s fundraising program from $15K to $500K in three years through a direct mail program, foundations and union sponsors.
Established regular partnership and presence with the members of the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda.
Expanded the organization’s visibility in media and policy circles on union and non-union issues affecting the Latino community.
