2. Naked Body by Anat Mondshine
• I am a lover of watercolor paintings
• I began by painting faces and wanted to explore
painting the naked body
• I am mesmerized by Lucian Freud’s naked
portraits – his portrayal of the nude body
• I wanted to see what new angle I can extract from
Lucian Freud’s nude painting
• I think I did them justice and indeed introduced
something beautiful and worth seeing

3. Nude Painting – Skinny
The lady is laying down… and
looking straight at you!
Look at the different layers of the
watercolor paint used to show
depth and muscle tone.
In Freud’s oil painting she is
laying on a blanket and you quite
vividly see her bone structure.
I chose to just see her and not be
distracted by scenery.

4. Nude Painting – Relaxing
This woman is relaxing. After a
long day at work she is just
looking at nothing and totally
immersed in her thoughts.
The technique here is layers of
watercolor on cotton paper.

5. Nude Painting – Contemplating
He’s in a blue mood.
He’s sitting looking up at nothing
and just wondering if his choice was
the right one.
The technique is layers of
watercolor paints and pencils on
cotton paper.

6. Nude Painting – Staring
Just got out of the shower, a hot shower and too tired to move. It was a long day
and all she wants to do is gaze outside her window. The view provides the winding
down calmness she so desperately yearns.
The technique is layers of watercolor paints and pencils on cotton paper.

7. Nude Painting - Friends
The pose is taken from Lucian Freud’s Nude Painting of two men
sitting on a couch. Again here I did not want to be distracted by the
furniture or setting; I just wanted the pure nude body.
I think that the end result of – them suspended in air – leaves a lot to
the imagination – each of us can fill in the gaps.

8. Nude Painting – Stretching
This is a woman that cares about her body. She exercises and eats right.
After a workout she looks forward to her stretching and lengthening of the
muscles.
Blue, I use it extensively with watercolors. The blues with the greens and
the blacks make such a splendid combination.

9. Nude Painting – Woman
Simple pose of nude
woman. She is herself and
shows it off to all.
I like to play with colors
and especially with the
hair color.
The technique is layers of
watercolor paints and
pencils on cotton paper.

10. Nude Painting – Freedom
Freedom to show off exactly who you
are. Beautiful woman expressed in
orange and greens.
The pose is just breathtaking. She is sure
of herself and has no inhibitions about
showing it off.
This painting has depth and shows off
the body in a very special and unique
way. Her legs are beautifully sculptured
with the use of very basic see through
colors.
Blue, I use it extensively with
watercolors. The blues with the greens
and the blacks make such a splendid
combination.

11. Nude Painting – Falling Asleep
I absolutely love this pose in this
painting. She is able to sit this way for
hours and let her thoughts wonder off
again and again.
Slowly at her own pace she is going to
fall asleep.
Browns, grays, reds, greens are the basic
colors that put this painting together. So
simple and it completely works.

12. Nude Painting – Orange
You can say that she’s in a gray mood
but then the Orange hair stands out –
so is she really in a bad mood?
The upper body’s painting technique is
really outstanding. All colors blend into
each other and yet the silhouette of
the body is perfectly shown.
Different shades of black, purple, a
touch of green and orange make this
painting perfect.

13. Nude Painting – Man
The man is laying down having a
conversation with a friend.
He is comfortable in his body and he is
showing it off.
He is Orange and he is happy. This
painting is drawn with warm colors to
represent the mood in the room.

14. Nude Painting – Sculpture
This is a pose of a woman that very
much reminds me of sculpture. The
pose I’ve seen used over and over
again done in different materials.
I would easily put such a sculpture on
a rock for all to enjoy.
Many times I use shades of black /grey
and offset them with warm colors such
as the red and orange in her hair.

15. Nude Painting – Hiding
She does not want to be seen. She
does not want to see. She is upset and
needs time to herself.
Again one of my favorite paintings
both for the pose itself and the colors.
I love the flow of the hair and the
color that I was able to create. I love
both the pose and the color of the
body.
The curves of the body are shown off
wonderfully and the color – grey,
purple - both warm and cold at the
same time.

Original Watercolor Nude Paintings
I worked hard to accomplish these paintings. I feel
privileged that I was able to accomplish as I did.
