2. Develop a SWOT Analysis
You are a recruiting leader with the requirement to
conduct a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and
Threats (SWOT) analysis specific to your recruiting
environment. You have access to USAREC Manual
(UM) 3-02 and the internal intelligence information
site, G2/CAR.

3. Develop a SWOT Analysis
Develop a SWOT analysis by determining your
organization’s internal strengths and weaknesses and
external opportunities and threats.

4. A SWOT analysis provides you the opportunity to
match perception with reality. It should exhibit a
careful and thorough understanding of the internal
(Strengths and Weaknesses) and external
(Opportunities and Threats) forces that may affect
your team’s ability to recruit.

5. Define “Strengths” as an internal factor. Capacity or
potential for effective action; operational effectiveness

6. Define “Weaknesses” as an internal factor. Lacking the
ability, knowledge, skills, results, and perseverance to
function normally; failure or inability to act.

7. Define “Opportunities” as an external factor. Favorable
or advantageous circumstances available now or in the
future; a favorable occasion or time; a chance for
progress (an opportunity by itself has no real value
unless the individual or unit has the capacity
(knowledge, resources, desire, etc.) to take advantage
of that opportunity).

8. Define “Threats” as an external factor. Potential danger
or menace facing the unit now or in the future;
operational hindrance.
