How to get a great Logo ?

  1. 1. CREATIVE If you are not a designer and as an individual or future brand realize that you need a first or new logo, this carousel is made for you. Hi, I am JB btw and I make businesses shine through graphic design, digital marketing and social media training.

  3. 3. DESIGN We live in a digital age marked by information technology and design. Every day, more and more businesses are springing up and deciding to dream bigger. In such a con text, the orientation towards graphics and visuals be comes more than essential. So today, through this tutorial, I share with you my tips for creating a durable, effective and of course appealing logo to faithfully represent and proudly promote your next business. Well, since the creation of a logo is a crucial and key phase in the development of the graphic identity of any company, this step requires preparation and prerequisite concepts. The entrepreneur must establish certain foundations that will serve as pillars in the orientation and design of the logo. Ignoring it will only postpone the impact of your project. Introduction step 1
  4. 4. DESIGN These are some basics you need to establish beforehand. In my experience, ignoring these will later on bite you in the... Step 1: The pre required Business Name next Mission & Vision It goes without saying that the name of your company is the very first foundation to be established. Possessing a unique and evocative name for your business is still a hot topic because a good number of entrepreneurs fail miserably at this stage. This article will tell you more about it. This is the cause and purpose for which your company exists (mission statement) as well as where it will be in the near future after your mission statement has been completed. These two notions are sine-qua-non and will be used for an efficient communication of your logo. Think about the link between Nawaari’s mission statement (connecting African freelancers and companies) and its symbol (logomark). link in bio
  5. 5. DESIGN Color Palette Typography What colors are representative of your brand or company? What exactly are these colors? Tell a graphic designer to design a logo with blue as the basic color and he will be spoilt for choice because there are more than 24 shades of blue (not counting the variations in hues and tones). The specificity of the color code is such a valuable piece of information, it remains a determining factor to ensure visual consistency. If you are therefore concerned in the process of choosing your brand colors, simply visit color.adobe.com which is a free color palette generator. Having a default font is very beneficial not only for more consistency in your documentation or presentations but also as a guide for logo designing. When choosing a font, make sure that it is legible and professional. Ultimately, it all depends on your brand identity, nonetheless, there are generally two main font uses in my experience: internal fonts and creative ones. Feel free to read more about font philosophy and guidelines if this is something that really matters to you. step 2
  6. 6. DESIGN After establishing these organizational directions (Step 1), it is time to understand what type of logo to use for your future business. Of course, there is an infinite number of logos, but each of them remains faithful to a specific classification that I summarize under these three categories: Typographic logos, pictograms, combination mark. Step 2 Which type of Logo ? Typography based logos next this one is based on the typography or lettering, it is very often the name of the company (logotype) or its initials (monogram) which can be (if desired) represented in the colors of the brand, hence the importance of step 1. Some well-known examples are : Google (logotype), IBM (monogram) or Coca Cola (logotype). Logotype Monogram Logotype
  7. 7. DESIGN Pictograms step 3 It is an imagery, illustration or icon that conveys the meaning/role/interest of the company. Think of Apple or Pinterest as examples. Combination Mark Very often, companies and organizations use the “typographic logo + pictogram” duo to capture the name and emblem/symbol representative of their brand, this is the case for The Voice in the Desert :
  8. 8. DESIGN The style of a logo may differ from one industry to another, so it is up to you to identify the sector in which you operate in order to better guide the logo creation process. That being said, this trick can be a double-edged sword by limiting your brainstorming or creative process. Such an approach would be counterproductive, so be aware of that. Nonetheless, here are two very popular logo trends: Step 3 Which Logo styles ? e-Sports Logos next This trend, more and more widespread in the gaming industry, is a very illustrated mascot logo style. Here are some examples of from shutterstock.
  9. 9. DESIGN Tech Logos step 4 As its name suggests, this style is much more loved by young technology start-ups and is based on modern, futuristic features and shades of blue and green as colors. Take a look at these few examples that Pinterest offers us. Finally, please note that type and style are different notions not to be confused in the designtionary (design conventions) :).
  10. 10. DESIGN At this point, you are now ready to brainstorm & invent Step 4 Reseach & Creation Primo As a first step, build on the previous information mentioned (company name, mission statement, color palette, fonts, logo types and styles) to guide your steps. Then, draw inspiration from other ideas and concepts designed by other artists (Pinterest and Behance bring together the largest communities of artists) and then create your moodboard, which is nothing more than a collage of the ideas/concepts that speak to you the most. The final step in this process is the creation of your Design Brief which presents your company (name, mission statement and vision), your visual identity so far (color palette, fonts, patterns etc…), your logo design guidelines (styles or trends and inspirations). next
  11. 11. DESIGN Segundo Then, contact a pro freelance graphic designer at @dessart_studio_ for the design of your logo with your Design Brief as a support, the latter will serve as a judge to grade your satisfaction. If you contact a designer on other platforms, please make sure that the designer’s profile is professional and meets your expectations: identity, areas of expertise, number of customer reviews, number of revisions, previous projects and portfolio etc. When browsing through an artist’s logofolio, use my CASE method (Comprehensible, Adaptable, Simple, Efficient) to judge the added value of the logo beyond its aesthetics. NB: If you choose a combination mark for your logo, make sure you have each element independently shared with you by the designer. Format wise, Png and Jpeg remain pro standards. Save 4 Later next
  12. 12. DESIGN Till next time A good logo will follow you everywhere, even if the process may seem energy or time consuming, completing these steps will allow you to represent your business more solidly. Ultimately, this is just the beginning of a long journey towards the finalization of your graphic charter (Brand Guidelines), which is a crucial document for your enterprise’s visual identity. bye
