  1. 1. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BY ANKUSH RATHOUR BCA VI SEMESTER 1731
  2. 2. CONTENTS •Definition •Early History •Current status of AI •Challenges for AI •Features OF AI •Pros & Cons •Conclusion
  3. 3. WHAT IS A.I.? Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. Artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving.
  4. 4. The Best Examples Of How AI Is Already Used In Our Everyday Life • Open your phone with face ID. • Social media. • Send an email or message. • Google search. • Digital voice assistants. • Smart home devices. • Commuting to work. • Banking.
  5. 5. EARLY HISTORY • In 1956, American computer scientist John McCarthy organized the Dartmouth Conference, at which the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’ was first adopted. Research centers popped up across the United States to explore the potential of AI. Researchers Allen Newell and Herbert Simon were instrumental in promoting AI as a field of computer science that could transform the world. • In 1951, an machine known as Ferranti Mark 1 successfully used an algorithm to master checkers. Subsequently, Newell and Simon developed General Problem Solver algorithm to solve mathematical problems. Also in the 50s John McCarthy, often known as the father of AI, developed the LISP programming language which became important in machine learning. • In the 1960s, researchers emphasized developing algorithms to solve mathematical problems and geometrical theorems. In the late 1960s, computer
  6. 6. CURRENT STATUS OF AI AI Trends for 2020 • AI will make healthcare more accurate and less costly. • Explain ability and trust will receive greater attention. • AI will become less data-hungry. • Improved accuracy and efficiency of neural networks. • Automated AI development. • AI in manufacturing. • The geopolitical implications of AI.
  7. 7. CHALLENGES FOR AI • Data. Data quality and quantity. Data labeling. Explain ability. Case- specific learning. • People. Lack of understanding of AI among non-technical employees. Scarcity of field specialists. • Business. Lack of business alignment. Difficulty assessing vendors. Integration challenges.
  8. 8. FUTURE OF AI In the last decade, artificial intelligence has gone from a science-fiction dream to a critical part of our everyday lives. We use AI systems to interact with our phones and speakers through voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google; cars made by Tesla interpret and analyze their surroundings to intelligently drive themselves; Amazon monitors our browsing habits and then serves up products it thinks we’d like to buy; and even Google decides what results to give us based on our search activity. Artificially intelligent algorithms are here, and they’ve already changed our lives — for better or worse. But this is only the beginning, and one day we’ll look back at AI in 2018 and laugh about how primitive it was. Because in the future, AI is going to change everything.
  9. 9. CONCLUSIO N Finally we can say that the Artificial Intelligence(AI) is the intelligence of machines and the branch of computer science that aims to create it. AI has increased understanding of the nature of intelligence and provided an impressive array of application in a wide range of areas. It has sharpened understanding of human reasoning, and of the nature of intelligence in general. John McCarthy ,who coined the term in 1955, defines it as “The Science and Engineering of making intelligent Machines”.
