I'ts all about computer. About the function, input devices, output devices, storage devices and process devices. And also types of computers, P.C Back Panel Labeled and Motherboard Labeled
2. DEFINITION
• a programmable electronic device designed to accept data,
perform
prescribed mathematical and logical operations at high spe
ed, and display the results of these operations.
3. FOUR FUNCTION OF A COMPUTER
• Input
• Transferring of information into the system. This may be through a user input device - i.e.
keyboard, mouse, scanner etc..
• Output
• is the exact opposite of input. Output is the function that allows a computer to display
information, from the system, for the user.
• Processing
• This is where the computer actually does the 'work' - manipulating and controlling data over the
entire system.
• Storage
• Storage takes place on hard-drives or external storage devices.
4. INPUT DEVICES
• An input device is any hardware device that sends data to a computer,
allowing you to interact with and control the computer.
• Keyboard
• a panel of keys that operate a computer or typewriter.
• Mouse
• use a mouse to move a cursor on a computer screen.
• Webcam
• a video camera that inputs to a computer connected to the Internet, so
that its images can be viewed by Internet users.
• Scanner
• a device that scans documents and converts them into digital data.
5. OUTPUT COMPONENTS
• An output device is any device used to send data from a computer to
another device or user.
• Speaker
• are speakers sold for use with computers, although usually capable of other
audio uses, e.g. for an MP3 player.
• Headphone
• are a pair of small loudspeaker drivers that are designed to be worn on or
around the head over a user's ears.
• Printer
• a machine for printing text or pictures onto paper, especially one linked to a
computer.
• Projector
• is an optical device that projects an image (or moving images) onto a surface,
6. PROCESSING COMPONENTSHARDWARE COMPONENTS ARE OFTEN CATEGORIZED AS
BEING EITHER INPUT, OUTPUT, STORAGE OR PROCESSING
COMPONENTS.
• CPU
• Alternately referred to as a processor, central processor,
or microprocessor, the CPU (pronounced sea-pea-you) is the Central
Processing Unit of the computer.
• Video Card
• Alternatively known as a display adapter, graphics card, video adapter, video
board, or video controller, a video card is an IC or internal board that creates a
picture on a display.
• Motherboard
• alternatively referred to as
the mb, mainboard, mboard, mobo, mobd, backplane board, base board, main
circuit board, planar board, system board.
• NIC
7. STORAGE COMPONENTS
A STORAGE COMPONENT READ AND WRITES COMPONENT STATE
INFORMATION FROM A REMOTE DATABASE SERVER OR REPLICATES STATE
INFORMATION TO OTHER SERVERS FOR IN-MEMORY STATELY FAILOVER.
• FDD
• Floppy Disk Drive, also called FDD or FD for short, is a computer disk drive that
enables a user to save data to removable diskettes.
• Hard drive
• A hard disk drive (sometimes abbreviated as Hard drive, HD, or HDD) is a non-
volatile memory hardware device that permanently stores and retrieves data on a
computer.
• Super disk
• Alternatively referred to as an LS-120 and LS-240, the Super Disk is a disk
drive and diskette introduced by 3M, which later became Imation.
• Tape
• A magnetically thin coated piece of plastic wrapped around wheels capable of
8. TYPES OF COMPUTERS
• Super computer
• A supercomputer is a computer with a high level of computing performance
compared to a general-purpose computer.
• Mainframe computer
• are computers used primarily by large organizations for critical
applications, bulk data processing.
• Minicomputer
• a computer of medium power, more than a microcomputer but less than a
mainframe.
• Microcomputer
• a small computer that contains a microprocessor as its central
processor.
• Laptop
9. • Personal computer
• It can be defined as a small, relatively inexpensive computer
designed for an individual user
• Tower
• The case comes with front, back, and top vents and mounts
up to five fans.
• Desktop
• Desktop computer is a personal computer designed for
regular use at a single location on or near a desk or table due
to its size and power requirements.
10. MAJOR COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER
• Information is funny stuff. The information for
the web page you are looking at is recorded on a
hard disk inside a computer located in New
Britain, Connecticut. The information was copied
from that physical device to other physical
devices perhaps hundreds of times before it got
to your computer where your web browser is
using it to display these words on your monitor.
Clearly information is something different from
the devices used to store and transmit it.
