We use present perfect
to talk about a past action that has a
present result
e.g I have lost my keys. I can’t find them
To talk about an experience or something
we have done without saying when
happened.
e.g I have been to Europe
I have done parachute jump

Simple Past
We use simple past to talk about
Finished actions, no connection with present.
E.g.: I worked in Lisbon four years ago.
We use simple past with a time expression
like yesterday, a year ago, last night, etc.
e.g.: I saw Mary yesterday. / My father
phoned two days ago.
