SUBJECT: Telegram Messenger
Introduction
“Describe the purpose of the report and the information to be provided.”
Today people are looking for better way to communicate inside of big companies. People need
a tool which is convenient, fast and has more functions. The other important thing now is a
safety, because all companies want their secrets being safe. This is the reason of our idea of
using Telegram. It is absolutely new way of sharing information. E-mail used to be very
successful and well developed service for everybody that you have on all of your devices, but
the time of e-mail has gone. We live in the days of high technologies and rapid changes;
Telegram meets all the needs of companies. Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging
service. This tool also has coding system, so it means it is a lot safer than e-mail or any other
similar messaging services.
History
“Provide a description of the tool. How it got started, what exactly is it? Tell me who
created it and other important details about its history that your audience will need to
know.”
Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging service. Telegram clients exist for both mobile
and desktop systems of all kinds, that makes this tool the most convenient app on the market.
Users can send messages and exchange photos, videos, stickers and files of any type. Telegram
also provides optional end-to-end encrypted messaging with self-destruct timers. Its security
features have been contested by security researchers and cryptography experts. Telegram is
supported and created by the Russian-born entrepreneur Pavel Durov and his brother Nikolai,
who previously founded the Russian social network VK. Nikolai Durov created the MTProto
protocol that is the basis for the messenger, while Pavel provided financial support and
infrastructure. Axel Neff became a co- founder of the company, structuring Telegram LLC in
the United States and Digital Fortress. Telegram is registered as both an English LLP and an
American LLC. It does not disclose where it rents offices or which legal entities it uses to rent
them, citing the need to "shelter the team from unnecessary influence" and protect users from
governmental data requests. The service says that it is headquartered in Berlin, Germany.
Telegram was launched in 2013. Its client-side code is open-source software, whereas its
server-side code is closed-sourced and proprietary. The service also provides APIs to
independent developers. The other reason, what makes it special, it is free. Companies do not
need to pay and there is no advertising in this app.

Organizational/User benefits
“Provide a description of the major benefits to the organization and its users.”
Telegram has a lot of benefits for organizations and users. It has a huge functionality and makes
work faster and easier.
Similar to services like WhatsApp, Telegram records are attached to phone numbers and are
checked by SMS or telephone call. Clients can add different gadgets to their record and get
messages on every one. Associated gadgets can be uprooted separately or at the same time.
The related number can be changed whenever and while doing as such, the client's contacts
will get the new number consequently.
Cloud-based messages
Telegram's default messages are cloud-construct and can be gotten to with respect to any of the
client's associated gadgets. Clients can share photographs, recordings, sound messages and
different documents (up to 1.5 gigabyte in size). Clients can send messages to different clients
independently or to gatherings of up to 5,000 individuals. The transmission of messages to
Telegram Messenger LLP's servers is encoded with the administration's MTProto convention.
As per Telegram's protection arrangement, "all information is put away vigorously encoded
and the encryption keys for every situation are put away in a few different DCs in various
purviews.
Bots
In June 2015, Telegram propelled a stage for outsider engineers to make
bots. Bots are Telegram accounts worked by projects. They can react to
messages or says, can be welcomed into gatherings and can be coordinated
into different projects. Dutch website “Tweakers" reported that a welcomed
bot can conceivably read all gathering messages when the bot controller
changes the entrance settings noiselessly at a later point in time. Telegram
brought up that it considered actualizing an element that would declare such
a status change inside of the pertinent gathering.
Channels
Channels can be made for television messages to a boundless number of
endorsers. Channels can be freely accessible with a false name and a lasting
URL so anybody can join. Clients who join a channel can see the whole
message history. Every message has its own perspective counter,
demonstrating what number of clients have seen this message. Clients can
join and leave channels whenever. Moreover, clients can quiet a channel,
implying that the client will even now get messages, yet won't be told.
EAC594 NBB REPORT 4
Secret chats
Messages can likewise be sent with customer to-customer encryption in alleged mystery visits.
These messages are scrambled with the administration's MTProto convention. In spite of
Telegram's cloud-based messages, messages sent inside of a mystery talk can be gotten to just
on the gadget whereupon the mystery visit was started and the gadget whereupon the mystery
visit was acknowledged; they can't be gotten to on different gadgets. Messages sent inside of
mystery talks can, on a basic level, be erased whenever and can alternatively self-destruct.
Telegram's neighborhood message database is not encoded of course. Some Telegram
customers permit clients to scramble the nearby message database by setting a passphrase.
Cost implications
“How much will it cost to use this tool? Are there cheaper tools out there that would be
better to use? Do you have to buy multiple licenses? If it’s free is there a catch?”
Telegram is a not for profit organization and right now it runs on founder’s money. Main
competitor WhatsApp asks 99 cents for year subscription. There are no any other apps on the
market that have same functionality and they are free. And if it ever does run out of money,
Telegram will ask for donations instead of charging for the app or showing you ads. Telegram
is a not for profit. The other thing is that everyone can download it because it is online, so no
one needs license or any documents that gives you right to use it, everything you need to do
just download it.
EAC594 NBB REPORT 5
Risks
“Provide an overview of any risks associatedwith using this tool.”
Between all the other similar apps, this one is the safest and of course, it is a lot safer than e-
mail. There are some risks with a chance of losing data when you switching your phone number
or when you use self-destruct chats you can forget of it and loose data.
Conclusion and recommendations
“Summarize the information you have gathered, draw a conclusion and make your final
recommendation.”
Today, it is a hard time to communicate in big companies or holdings, because thousands of
people work there. One of the most important aspects of working in big companies is
communication and a networking, different people in different departments need to be
connected and react immediately. Big companies use E-mail to send work files or notifications,
but as we know, it is not the fastest way to get connected and be online all the time, it is almost
impossible with e-mail. E-mail is too old and does not have modern features and new
technologies. This is the reason why we are suggesting our product to big corporations, our
product will change all the meaning of being connected to your co-workers. Telegram is the
most balanced APP for any kind of smartphone, moreover you can use it on your working
computers. Telegram can send files, it is fully secured, you can create groups and classify them
by necessity, and it is the fastest messaging tool ever made. It is simple, easy to use design, and
another reason to use this APP is that there is no right format to write, so it is easier than e-
mail, you fill more comfortable in commutation with others. Telegram is free, there are no
