Media has a lot of responsibilities at its shoulders today. It educate the people about their
rights toward the government. For ease elaborated in the form of headers and points:
Voice of voiceless:
The one of basic responsibility of media is spreading awareness on becoming the
voice of downtrodden. Voice for justice must be raised by media. It is such as strong
medium that it can prove an innocent guilty or a guilty an innocent. It must act positively
and fight for justice.

framework of law.
Free of governmemt interference:
Under a responsible system, the role of media is to serve people so it must be
of government interference. Media should be impartial and unbiased as the talk shows
displaying at T.V. screens plays a role in making up the minds of voters which may lead
a corrupt political party to govern the country. This can happen due to a sell and
media system.
Representing public:
Working as watchdog of society, it must represent the public and should speak
for them, it should play an active role in policy formation and their execution.
13. Entertaining of people:
Mass media consumers need diversion as well as information. The comics,
entertaining feature stories, and pictures help meet this need. In this hectic routine of
life, people need some relaxation and this purpose is to be fulfilled by social media.
14. Working of media in Pakistan:
How well is the media performing? No one can read all the newspapers and all the
magazines. No one can watch all television newscasts and scroll everything on social
media. It is a big question mark; how the media is performing. Is media eligible to be
given with major authorities? Is our media playing positive and constructive role? Are the
facts told by media fully authentic and reliable. The most important question, is our
media sincere with its people now?
Here is a short detail of function of media in our society.
Political interests and interference:
Media is lacking effective and honest working in its sphere due to involvement in
corruption. The dilemma is that most of people are unaware of the social problems that
they are facing because of electronic media. Political interests are huge reasons for this
disfunction. Strong political parties are buying media channels to close their eyes and
tongues against them. Biased news create disturbance in viewers’ minds and effecting
their opinions. People are unable to judge the right or wrong as media is the only source
which can spread higher news about politics. The whole situation is truly applicable to
Pakistan politics and media relation.
15. Promoting other cultures:
It is a great threat to our culture because media is promoting culture of west
these days. People are unaware of their ethics and morals due to watching western
content. Our young generation is completely unaware of our cultural and social values,
our literature and stories of bravery and sacrifice by our leaders are being forgotten. It
make a high impact on our social life.
Way to fake modernism:
As, media is promoting western life styles and forgetting our traditional life
style, our people are now totally misfit for both types. They are faking themselves and
showing up. Our dress code is moving toward vulgarity being merged with western.
Our living habits, food habits are also changing. Media is a key in thus mind setup.
Moving toward modernism we are crossing our limits.
16. Excessive power and freedom:
Liberty of words and freedom is right of every system in country. But excess of
is bad. The excess of power and authority is being enjoyed by the media these days. Freed
fair media is necessary for the successful democracy but excess power allotted to media is
decay and destruction of democracy.
Spreading extremism and negativity:
News on social media are also spreading violence. People are lacking emotional
that’s why extremism is increasing day by day. Tolerance is being disappeared in people which
giving rise to many social issues like violence.
Economical losses:
International channels are being on-aired. A lot of budget is used in buying the
It is a loss of money and also a burden to our economy. A bundle of dollars are being spent
these channels, movies, dramas and reality shows.
17. Anti ISLAM and anti Pakistan propaganda:
In the name of open mindedness, vulgarity and denudation is becoming
Some anti-Islamic thinkings are being indulged in our minds for the name of
development. These propagandas are like slow poison and silent killer of our religious
beliefs. In the same way patriotic thoughts are being replaced by spreading negative
and destructive thinkings.
18. Conclusion:
It is concluded that media is not effective in strengthening democracy in Pakistan.
Despite, media is free and liberal in Pakistan; still it has not done much in enhancing
democratic traditions in the country. While media's role as watchdog and a source of
information has been appreciated, it is interesting that it's role as an agenda setter and
especially civic forum is hugely castigated. And also it has been acknowledged that the
media owners and the financiers have negative influence on the role of media. Journalists
working conditions are also not very conductive for them to work earnestly.
Hence media persons are recognising the fact that media institutions have to be more
democratic for them to be able to promote democracy in the country. While they hold
government in power accountable. They should be ready for accountability too. Media
should be free from the reins of government but there must be some mechanisms to
regulate it. Media rules and regulations are not to curb the power of media. It build code of
ethics and also serve to make the role more sophisticated and refined.
19. However, the whole analysis of views shows that media of Pakistan is still in
growing phase as it hardly witnessed a decade to its rise. Media of Pakistan has too
much power but the people who has its reins has no experience or training to run it so
the media suffers.
