NTRODUCTION:-  Diksha portal:-  National Teacher Platform (NTP) branded as "Diksha" is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development for providing a digital platform to teacher to make their lifestyle more digital. The portal has been launched under National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers.  It is a state-of-the-art platform built to host Open Educational Resources (OER) and tools for Teachers in Schools, Teacher Educators in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) and Student Teachers in TEIs.  It is built considering the whole teacher’s life cycle - from the time student teachers enroll in TEIs to after they retire as teachers.  In India, many teachers are creating & using innovative tech-based solutions in their classrooms. Some state governments have also initiated programs to support their teachers digitally. This inspired MHRD and NCTE to coordinate these efforts at a national level and build DIKSHA.  It was launched by vice president , Sh.M.Venkaiah Naidu.  Diksha features:-  In-class resources  Teacher training content  Assessment aids  Teacher profile  News and announcement  Teacher community
  3.  What does the platform provide? NTP envisages providing:-  Teacher training courses (example - training on learning outcomes, CCE, etc.)  Teaching resources such as lesson plans, concept videos, worksheets, mapped to curriculum.  Assessments for teachers, to find out their strengths and areas of improvement. Teachers will be able to access this material offline on their smart Phones, tablets, & other devices anytime & anywhere material will be contextualized to local languages as well as mapped to curriculum.  NTP (National Teachers Portal):- NTP contain the following features:-  Courses for teachers to enable continuous learning  Resources for use in classroom  Dashboards for progress and assessment  Communities for collaboration and discussions  Announcements, notifications and circulars The National Teacher Platform will be available to all teachers, anytime, anywhere. It will be:-  Open and Modular- The National Teacher Platform will be a minimal and generalized technology platform built using Open Standards and Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and will host Open Educational Resources (OER).  User-focused and Iterative- The National Teacher Platform will cater to the needs of teachers including the development of Attitude, Skill and Knowledge. The platform will continuously develop and evolve in an iterative manner based on user needs and stakeholder feedback.  Expected benefits:-
  4.  Teachers can access relevant personalized professional development training anytime and anywhere.  Teachers in Schools can use the curriculum-linked resources to prepare for class or use them to teach in the class, while Teacher Educators in TEIs can use it to deliver blended training.  Student Teachers in TEIs and contractual Teachers will be able to take courses on the NTP to prepare for the TET and/or get certified.  Cluster & Block Resource Personnel can use standardized observation tools on the NTP to provide need-based coaching support to teachers and do continuous training-needs analysis.  NTP infrastructure shared amongst many states will avoid duplication of efforts and save costs.  Teachers will have access to their own personalized workspace where they can plan and track their progress including courses completed, performance in tests etc.  Scope of the platform:- The NTP will cater to teachers from all stages of school education including pre- primary, primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary. All institutions, groups and individuals catering to the above can be enrolled as members of the platform, and can contribute to the creation, curation and use of resources on the platform. Case study:Dehradun(Uttarakhand):- The uttarakhand state is progressing towards raising the bar of quality of education with the diksha-“dedication to enhance education through knowledge, skill and habit assessment” program of the education department launched on at the state secretariat by uttarakhand’s chief secretary, shatrughna singh. Singh addressed the education officials present at the launch and the district magistrates and chief education officers of the 13 districts across Uttarakhand by the means of video- conferencing and stated the need to improve and enhance the quality of education in the government schools of the state and directed them to take personal interest to ensure DIKSHA’s successful implementation. Besides this, the chief secretary gave out directions to ensure that AADHAR cards of all the students are made as soon as possible such that the requisite information about them can be seeded with their bank accounts and also directed repair work on priority basis for the schools with dilapidated buildings. The secretary school education D senthil pandiyan said "The primary aim of the diksha project is to make sure that regular assessment of the students’ performance is done and the remedial measures to improve their knowledge base and the performance are taken. the program will be taken up like a campaign in all schools across our state and education officials would take active participation in ensuring that it is monitored well with timely inspections.we sincerely hope and believe this would help in raising the level of quality of education in state owned schools and more children would take interest in joining the government run schools." The program consist of continuous comprehensive evaluation (CCE) and learning level assessment (LLA),while CCE would used to gauge the learning levels in the primary classes, the LLA would be implemented for the students of senior classes. To ensure the successful implementation of the diksha initiative, a booklet developed by the state council of educational research & training (SCERT) and the sarv shiskha abhiyan (SSA) containing the guidelines for the implementation of the program was also released on the occasion. The state’s education department officials are certain that the campaign will ensure school kids are regularly assessed and remedial measures are taken thereby overhauling the education scenario and raising the bar of education in government run schools.
