2. The Rahmi M. Koç Museum is the first major
museum in Turkey dedicated to the history of
Transport, Industry and Communications.
Housed in magnificent buildings -
themselves prime examples of industrial
archaeology - on the shore of the historic
Golden Horn, the collection contains
thousands of items from gramophone
needles to full size ships and aircraft. The
location is unrivalled - romantic, historic,
convenient to both the Old City and the new.
And the appeal is universal: objects that
affect our daily lives, created by talented
engineers and craftsmen, encapsulating
man's ingenuity and hard work yet at the
same time exhibiting great beauty.
3. ARTICLE 5 - THE PROTECTION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE SHALL ALWAYS BE RESERVED FOR ANY USEFUL SOCIAL PURPOSE CAN BE

The structure that was re-functioned as M. Koç museum has
become an example of tradition and contemporaneity.
In the other underground exhibition halls, the main products of
the post-Industrial Revolution technologies are exhibited.
There are various examples of land, sea and air vehicles in the
museum.
The original underground gallery with a glass ramp was added
to the original building and opened in December 1994.
With the rapid growth of the first section of the museum,
Hasköy Shipyard, which stands as a ruin, was taken in 1996
against the Golden Horn in front of the Lengerhane Building.
The Lengerhane Building constitutes the first chapter of the
Rahmi M. Koç Museum. The main products of post-Industrial
Revolution are exhibited in this section and other underground
exhibition halls. There are various examples of land, sea and air
vehicles in the museum. Some of the most striking works in this
section are research tools and machines belonging to Bogazici
University Kandilli Observatory.

14 abandoned buildings and historic sidewalks were restored to
the original and the second part of the museum was opened in
July 2001.
There is also a restaurant called "Café du Levant", which is
mainly French cuisine, beside the Lengerhane building where
transportation vehicles such as airplanes, locomotives, historical
vehicles, playgrounds and models, printing machines and
communication devices are exhibited. The former Shipyard is a
large-volume structure, which has to function in the past. The
objects exhibited here are also larger than the objects
exhibited in the lengerhouse.
As much as it is entertaining, it is possible to see how
machines work and physics experiments in these parts, which
are also trainers.
For example, how olive oil is made can be traced gradually
through these parts of the shipyard building.

ADDITIONS, DELETIONS OR ALTERATIONS SHOULD BE ALLOWED.
The building has been given an appropriate function for
its historical past. The fact that the exhibition areas are
designed to respect and emphasize the building's form
and historical past draws particular attention.
The works exhibited in this section the Hasköy Shipyard
Building are the marine collection, objects of computer
history, motorcycles and bicycles, horse carts, scarves,
classical automobiles, objects belonging to railroad,
objects related to agriculture, olive oil factory and
underwater collection.

museum was opened in July 2001.
6. ARTICLE 8 - DECORATIONS SUCH AS SCULPTURE AND PAINTING,WHICH ARE CONSIDERED AS COMPLEMENTARY ITEMS OF CULTURAL
EXISTENCE, IFTHE GUARD HAS NO OTHER CHOICE,THEY CAN BE REMOVED.
The collapse of the 3 storey reinforced concrete
building located at the bank of the Golden Horn and the
addition of which has been added later has enabled the
bulky mass to be removed from the center.
Subsequent concrete reinforced concrete floors were
removed from the buildings.
The main purpose in the mezzanine floors is not to
prevent the perception of the integrity of the building.
Half-cut of the mezzanine floor allows the building
dimensions and roof trusses to be felt from the lower
floors.
The stone brick texture on the walls was removed and
the wooden suspended ceiling scissors were preserved

reconstruction

early in the 20th century When the museum is designed, ramps
and handicapped lifts are supposed to be transported to every
part of the buildings.
Museum functions were subsequently selected depending on
the area and height of the buildings.
When exhibitions were held in the rooms, the audience was
made to feel clearly what they saw.
Integration of the exhibitors with the objects exhibited in the
museum is ensured.
Those who visit museums can feel them by approaching and
touching objects.
