Executive Employment Trends
Q2 2015
2 © BPI group
BPI group has established this Executive Employment Trends Report to offer visibility into the current
executive job market. We are committed to quality and results in our outplacement programs, and believe that
keeping a careful eye on trends in the market is an important way to ensure that we are meeting the needs of
our career transition clients. The findings of this report are based on a survey of our executive clients who
began their job search from Q1 2014 through Q2 2015.
The Executive Employment Trends Report includes analysis of the following executive employment trends:
– Average length of the executive job search
– How the length of the job search is impacted by various factors, including:
• Base Salary Level
• Education Level
• Age
We look forward to continuing to share the latest trends in executive employment. If you would like to learn
more about our approach to executive outplacement services, please call +1.800.323.0206 or connect with

REFLECTIONS ON EXECUTIVE EMPLOYMENT TRENDS IN Q2 2015
Patricia Siderius
Managing Director, Executive Outplacement Services
psiderius@bpi-group.us, +1.630.613-6373
Executives in Q2 2015 landed a new job in an average of 4.5 months, a slight increase from Q1’s average of
4.3 months. As we saw last quarter, this slight increase in job search length corresponded with an increase in
average compensation for the new position: 64% of executives reported higher salaries in their new jobs,
beating last quarter’s record high of 60%.
In Q2, only 9% of executives chose to start their own business – about half the rate of Q1. Moreover, none of
our executive clients chose to retire this quarter. Based on the experiences of our clients, we have observed
that as the job market has improved, our executives can afford to be more particular in their job search.
While they may take a bit longer to consider their options, they are landing better and higher paying
positions.
This observation is supported by the broader market trends noted
by the U.S. Labor Department, who reported that 223,000 jobs
were added in June. While lower-wage jobs were most in demand
in the earlier period of the economic recovery, we are now seeing a
larger concentration of new white-collar jobs in industries like
marketing, insurance, and software – a marked increase in
opportunities for our executive clients.
