2. VirtuesRevelation
-This Surah describes the potential evils
that exist outside ourselves that we can
not see- like envy, shaytan, black magic.
-The Prophet (S) would recite Surat Falaq
along with Surat Al-Nas & Surat Ikhlas
every morning and night.
He would recite them into his hands and
wipe them over his body.
-Surat Al-Falaq & Surat Al-Nas were
revealed together.
-They were sent down to us as a
means of protection.
-After the Jews were exiled from
Medina for betraying their Muslim
allies during the Battle of Khandaq,
they hired a sorcerer to perform
magic upon the Prophet (S) to harm
him. The Prophet got sick because of
this spell.
Angel Jibreel indicated to him that he
was to read these 2 Suwar upon his
body to break the effects of the magic.
These are the 3
“قل‘s”
3. #1
- Falaq means to split. When
something cracks open to allow
something to come out…All acts of
creation are acts of FALAQ… Lord
of CREATION. Lord of the BIRTH of
everything.
- Previous Surah mentions that Allah
was not born
(HE CREATED BIRTH)
This is the same word we use when we ask
protection from the Shaytan.
الرجيم الشيطان من باهلل أعوذ
4. #2
Some things in themselves are not evil, but people
use them in a way that harms others.
Example: Science isn’t evil, but people use it to
create things that are evil.
Example: Sharp tools aren’t evil but people may use
them hurt others.
We are reminded that since Allah created
all harmful things, he has complete control
of them, and can protect us from them.
Some things can potentially harm us but
are not necessarily evil.
Example: Sharks and snakes are not evil in
themselves, but they may harm us if we
cross paths with them.
They’re just acting on their natural
instincts. .
*Remember, things are known by their opposites:*
- If there were no diseases, it would be impossible to understand the
blessing of good health.
-If there was no darkness, the value of the light could not be understood.
5. #3.
- Most evil happens at night- people get drunk, people get into
accidents, people rob homes, harmful animals may come
out….
- Most sins are committed under the veil of the night. This is
when the shayateen come out.
- We are asking protection from the Lord who splits the night
to bring the light. He brings a new day.
6. #4.
This refers to those who
practice black magic
and sorcery.
This is a form of shirk…
Sorcerers use the
Shayateen and Jinn in
order to harm others.
The next Ayah mentions
the reason why anyone
would perform these
acts……
Sourcers ask you to do all
these strange things so
you believe that you are
doing something, but the
reality is that they are
working with the bad
jinn.
7. #5.
There are 2 types
of jealousy.
Wishing to have
a blessing that
someone else
has.
This is Ok.
Wishing to have
that blessing and
that it would be
TAKEN AWAY
from someone.
Burning inside
because someone
else is happy.
This is HASAD , or ENVY. This is Haram. You are challenging
Allah, as if to say that he made a mistake in what he provided.
This leads you harming others.
Think of this: The first murder on Earth took place because of
Hasad: When Adam’s son Qabeel killed his brother Habeel.
Think of this: Yusuf’s own brothers threw him a well because of
Hasad.
8. * We know from the Quran that Envy is a reality.
