louise.Concertus jones@concertus.co.uk is a 01473 multi-264 113
disciplinary property consultant practice with a wealth of
experience in creating award-winning built environment solutions. I started working
for concertus at the beginning of december 2013. I'm employed as a graduate land-scape
architect.
My main role is to assist senior landscape architects in their job.
I'm involved in all stages of design process starting from sketches and feasibility
drawings through concept design and first CAD drawings, finishing on detailed
design drawings.
I'm also able to visit project sites and participate in design team meetings.
All the drawings were produced in ArchiCAd, which was the only software used by
landscape architects in the office.

Ground level access is divided
into three main streams. Office
workers who arrive by car will
proceed to basement level and
take elevators directly to the office
areas of the building. Visitors who
arrive by car will be dropped off on
the north side of the building and
those arriving by bus will access
from the south, both making use

north-south at ground level. This
axis also becomes a central break

levels of the building.
A special VIP drop off at the
eastern end of the building allows
special guests to be brought direct
to the commercial lobby, while

The surface water management strategy is integrated
into the building design, providing capture of rain water
and improved microclimate.
The strategy is divided into two main components:
1. Capture and Treatment of Rainwater
Rainwater from the roof level pavilions is directed into
surface water attenuation and biofiltration pond, where
it is treated prior to storage at basement level. It is
important to provide as much contact with plant material
as possible in order to remove suspended solids and
organic material prior to tank storage.
2. Attenuation and flood mitigation.
Excess water collected in basement tanks is discharged
into the ground level landscape , where it is joined by
run off from vehicular and pedestrian surfaces. It is
then led through a series of attenuation and filtration
ponds to ensure that the site has a green field equivalent
discharge quantity.
In this case we would be aiming for discharge volume of
1.25 l/s (2.5 l/s/ha).
The site will eventually discharge into Meixi Lake and the
scheme ensures that the quality objectives set down in
the Eco City guidelines are adhered to or exceeded.

Wilder Associates - internship
i started my internship in the wilder associates in the middle of april 2013.
i was working there on everyday basis so i could have had that chance to experi-ence
that office-life in the landscape architecture company.
at the beginning i was preparing sketches (eg. bendera road project) and doing some
research on the materials, furnitures and planting.
later my role was extended and i was preparing diagrams (autocad & photoshop),
sections (autocad & photoshop) and i was included in conceptual design at the first
stages of the design process.
these three diagrams that I produced for the meixi lake project in china were includ-ed
in the design package that was sent to the client.

The atrium spaces form a natural
extension of the office space and
provide views to the mountains

geometry of these courtyards will
be created in a linear approach, in
order to extend the eye line to the
horizon.
Raised planters will also provide
seating and integrate lighting.
Materials such as polished granite

the exhibition strategy.
The strongest colour -Red

The site frontage is
dominated by blocks of

9. Battle McCarthy - internship
I came to the battle mccarthy to assist with one of the big project that the
company prepared for the competition in china.
as i came at the later stage the design was already completed and my main role
was to prepare sets of drawings.
I prepared Autocad drawings for new architectural features in the landscape
like: seasonal biospheres (drawing on the left), new laboratory/research
building (top left), disney botanical biosphere, floating cafe and timber shelter.
10. Battle McCarthy - internship
other assignments included:
- prepare section drawings (autocad and photoshop)
- prepare photomontages/ visualisation
- prepare a plan view of the selected site (photoshop)
11. Royals Business Park Masterplan
the new masterplan converts this
brownfield site into urban mixed-use
area contributing to the character of
dockside to envisage the waterfront as
a hub of activity and opportunity for
urban food production.
Proposed Suds scheme unites the whole
site. Royal albert way is covered with
green bridges to mitigate the noise and
to connect the site with surrounded
area. With 'green carpets' it also coun-teracts
the heat island effect.
12. landscape character assessment
the tool that I used to help me under-stand
and articulate the character
of the landscape.
it helps indentify the features that
give a locality its
'sense of place' and pinpoints what
makes it different from neighbouring
areas.
landscape quality and sensitivity to change
the assessment of townscape quality/value is the process of eval-uating
different character areas with regard to their character,
condition and aesthetic appeal and then attaching a value to these
areas. it also takes into account an appraisal of the likely value
or importance to the community.
the capacity of the landscape / townscape to accept change of the
type and scale proposed has to be assessed based on the vulnera-bility
of each character area to degradation through the intro-duction
of new features, or through the loss of existing features.
Royals Business Park - Landscape character assessment & sensitivity to change
13. the sections show new elements
in the landscape. the attrac-tions
with aquarium, new shop-ping
/ market hub, wetland and
water activities at the dock-front
will improve the site so-cially,
ecologically, economically
and aesthetically.
The vision is to return the royal
albert dock to its former glory
as a thriving, vibrant place to
live, work and visit

14. Royals Business Park - gis
While doing the assessment
GIS helped me with my work.
I prepered series of draw-ings
that showed me the
right direction in designig
the suds system.
15. Royals Business Park - sketches
the sketches show progress in designing process.
before I took the design to the autocad, first stages of the
design were developed by hand ( two drawings on the left).
in my design i introduced big glass canopies / walls as a type
of barrier against the noise and wind (bottom left).
I also designed the suds system for the entire site. the sketch
below shows particular cells of this scheme.
the drawing above shows the idea of 'sensory garden' with
planting that stimulate all senses.
16. Royals Business Park - photomontages
the photomontages show
four different areas of the
site : the floating fields at
the dockfront, wetland,
new dockfront with glass
canopies and 'sensory gar-den'
next to the newham
councils building.
17. Royals Business Park - construction drawings
construction drawings were drawn in autocad.

channel sections

18. Garden Design
'colour gallery' garden was a project that I did during my Certificate of land-scape
design year in Hadlow College.
the garden was a part of the broadview gardens that are located in peaceful
picturesque kent countryside.
the objective was to create a garden that invites people for further exploring
of the gardens. the whole process was carried out by hand including final
plan.
19. Garden design - colour and texture plan
this colour and texture plan includes
planting like: evergreen hedge, ornamen-tal
trees and grasses, deciduous and
evergreen shrubs, perennials, ferns and
succulents.
22. Theme Project - urban tranquility - London Bridge & beyond
theme project is a series of
quick photomontages / design
on a given subject.
* no greenery
* no tranquility
* quick pace
* office space around
* boring space
* noise everywhere
