Social Media is an essential activity on the internet. As an increasing
number of consumers are creating social media accounts, there are
many opportunities for businesses to engage with new and exciting
customers. However, they must have a good presence online as there is
an increasing number of business competitors growing every day.
Consumer trends (e.g. how consumers' use of technology has changed over the past 3-5 years,
reflecting on the areas above)
Below are a few examples of technological advancements and the latest consumer trends in 2020/2021:
Virtual Reality: Voice assistance:
Amazon has recently created an intelligent smart voice assistant capable
of completing a range of practical tasks. Most people ask Alexa to do an
array of simple voice commands. For example, one may ask Alexa to set
the alarm or reminder, play music, search the internet, and ask for
weather reports. (The Ambient, 2020)
A virtual reality headset is utilized to transport the user
to another version of reality, where they can react to
different and new environments. They are commonly
used for video games, simulators and trainers. (Carter,

of the key points and emphasise the impact
of technology on consumers' lives)
