Anissa is 16 years old. At the end of the school year, her family
sets out for Morocco where Anissa is to be married - a marriage
arranged by her father. She doesn’t want to go.
On the road, Anissa runs away...
SYNOPSIS
As Europe became one and united by a single currency,
a lifestyle magazine asked: “who are those new Euro-
peans?” Being born into an immigrant Italian family,
that question struck me. I look Mediterranean and
while growing up I had often been asked, “ Where are
you from? Your name does not sound French, where
does it come from?” Despite having always identified
myself as French, under the gaze of others I was seen
differently. As European borders were opening up,
I became European and I did not need to explain
my origins anymore since I belong. Then, who
are those “new Europeans?” To answer that ques-
tion, I felt like talking about belonging through
Anissa’s story since ultimately we all belong to
something. Right here, right now. Origins are just
a way to lineage.
As I see it, Anissa personifies the way between here
and elsewhere, the past and the future. She is transi-
ting to the destination of her choice. She already has
a very distinct past from her parents’; hers began in
her neighbourhood, where she played as a kid, at the
bakery where she bought her candies, at school, with
her friends. She has her own memories, her own
habits, her own volition. She is just not quite from the
same cultural array as her parents. She is both in search
of identity as a woman and in search of identity per se.
Torn between her Moroccan legacy and the country
she was born in, she is about to live a unique expe-
rience – her own.
The film is story about transformation. It’s about an
overprotected teenager, bound by tradition, growing
into a young, free woman; it’s a rite of passage.
As she finds out about the world, she finds out about
herself. She discovered something new, which she
cannot ignore.
Like many teenagers, she feels awkward; she doesn’t
know how to express herself.
She can’t share her feelings openly with her family.
She’s never been away from home. She is a lonely,
frightened 16-year-old.
Also, her parents keep telling her to be careful on two
counts: because she is a girl, and because they live in
a society they don’t understand. Anissa has no other
choice but to trust the people she’s depending upon
along her way, forcing her to open up. Surprisingly,
she finds it pleasing. The outer world is not as hostile
as she thought. She fits in.
Running away from her family is heart breaking to
Anissa since she’s still a child in need of care, but also
because she feels disappointed. Her arranged mar-
riage shatters the idea she had of love. As she pictures
it, there’s a prince charming out there, waiting to
meet her.
She expected her mother – a woman – to protect her
from this unfair tradition.
In other circumstances she probably wouldn’t choose
to do it with Matthew, but at this very moment she
likes what he represents. Not knowing what to expect
from life, she chose him as her first love: a choice heavy
with consequences, but nonetheless meaningful. She
freed herself from paternal authority and the traditions
she was bound by. She claims her social inclusion -
not within the state’s official institutions - but with her
parents, no matter what happens when she returns
home. This moment is forever engraved in her memory
– I want it to be beautiful, gentle, and unique.
I wanted to shoot Anissa’s story from an organic pers-
pective, related to the body and its perception of her
environment; the wind moving her forward, the sound
of her footsteps in the forest, her sensations when she
NOTE
OF INTENT
makes love for the first time. She is a full part of that environment.
Locations are meaningful. They shape us. What we do there, we can’t
do it somewhere else. Anissa is up against an immense landscape that
echoes her newly discovered freedom, where she may lose herself. But
down the road, she’ll eventually find her true self.
I chose the year 2002 for a reason. Jean-Marie Le Pen’s desire to look
inward, get rid of the immigrants and close up the borders almost got
him elected president. While his far right party claims “la France aux
français” (France belongs to French people), Anissa tries to free herself
from dogmas to find her way as an individual.
Biography
Fabienne has been writing fictions for pre-prime-time and prime time TV on
major channels for years. Her first short film “La Postière” shot with Ellabel
Productions and the support of the Département du Val de Marne was selected
in several festivals such as L’Open du Court (Paris, France) or Le Festival Inter-
national du Film de Femmes (Créteil, France).
While completing her medium length film “Tu es plus belle que Sharon Stone”
she asked Magnetic Films to produce Anissa 2002.
Note of context
In the early 2000s, the entire world went through a violent identity
crisis: we are still living through the consequences. As such, 2002 was
a critical year for France. Political indecisiveness and abstention led
the leader of the extreme right party to the second round of the pre-
sidential election, leaving the left wing’s front-runner Lionel Jospin out
of the race. The whole country was in shock at discovering that they
produced such election results.
The country Anissa grew up in was torn apart between its socialist
tradition and the rise of extremist voices. Yet tradition can be shatte-
red, for better or worse.
Anissa 2002 tells a search of identity, but not only Anissa’s. It’s the
search of an entire generation, who is trying to break the deadlock.

Natacha Krief
Following her graduation from highschool,
Natacha entered a performing art class at
the Université Paris X and at Studio Alain
Debock. She then learned the Meisner tech-
nique – among other things – with Steven
Ditmyer.
She made her first on screen appearances
in 2013 both in theatre and TV, with the
films “Trois coeurs” and “Le Journal d’une
femme de chambre” by Bennoit Jacquot,
and also in the France 2 series “Lebowitz
contre Lebowitz”.
In 2014, she was offered the female lead in
the spectacle “Aladin” staged by Jean-Pi-
lippe Daguerre, which played both at the
Théâtre des Variétés and the Palais Royal in
Paris.
She continues to broaden her experience as
an actress as she works on short-movies and
web series.
Natacha is a multifaceted actress, who can
act with ease on stage, TV and cinema.
Thanks to her undeniable presence, Fa-
bienne Facco and the production choose
her among dozens of other girls to be Anis-
sa, the lead role in Anissa 2002.
Daniel Horn
Daniel graduated form the prestigious
London School of Dramatic Art where
he played the notorious characters from
Shakespeare to Tenessee Williams. He
moved to Paris two years ago in order to
broaden his skills. He is currently learning
“clown art” and more extensively the ways
of body language at the Ecole Internatio-
nale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq.
He worked with Alain Tasma, Laurent Le-
clerc, Steven Morrison, Kazeem Akinsay-
nay or Tommaso Oriani and as made seve-
ral appearances on television and cinema in
France and England. He is currently “Pierre
de la Croix” in the Canal + TV show “Ver-
sailles”, directed by Jalil Lespert.
In front of Fabienne Facco’s camera, he is
Matthew, Anissa’s first lover.
Charlotte Deysine
From childhood, Charlotte was familiarized
with the performing art thanks to an
amateur theatre company she had been
with for 7 years. At 18, she went off to
perfect her skills at the renowned Cours
Florent and Jean-Laurent Cocher’s course.
She also learned to act in English through
her class at the Lee Strasberg Institute in
Los Angeles.
She made her debut in front of the camera
in short-movies for the CLCF or Luc
Besson’s Ecole de la Cité. Thanks to her
talent and spontaneity, she was soon casted
to play recurring roles in major French TV
shows.
Commercial directors such as Lucille
Hadzihalilovic or Lars Blummer were
seduced by her innate sense of acting and
diaphanous complexion.
Despite her schedule, this vivid and
dynamic young girl still finds time to
pursue her passion for horseback riding –
competing in international events.
She is Julie, Anissa’s friend, and she will
unknowingly help her to take responsibility
for her own destiny.

With the support of France 3, CNC, Région Bourgogne,
Fonds Images de la diversité - CGET/Acsé and Procirep-Angoa
MAGNETIC FILMS was created in 2011.
Julien Gittinger produced several short films along with music videos and corporate
films with his former company.
Lucie Duchêne wrote and directed four short films financed and supported by the CNC,
which were broadcasted on large audience channels.
They first met while working on Eau Forte with Lolita Chammah et Jérémie Elkaïm.
Through their mutual passion for cinema, and enriched by this experience, they decided
to unite their expertise in order to produce films that mattered to them.
They offer a sincere form of cinema, often rebellious and always artistically demanding,
that echoes the social and individual’s inherent tensions.
They see their relationship to the authors as a mutually enlightening journey, gathering
experiences and cultural enrichment.
They produced “Un Seul Corps” with greek-australian director Sotiris Dounoukos,
which portrays a strange friendship in a slaughterhouse. The film appeared in many
Festivals and won a prize at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Sébastien Bardet’s “Bleu Blanc Gris” – broadcasted on national television - explores the
question of “grey wedding” through the conspiracy of a bashful lover deputy mayor
(Jean-Noël Brouté) and a bitter cop (Gilles Cohen), their efforts to end a relationship
between a young French woman and an undocumented Turkish man.
“#pouralex” by Louda Ben Salah - also bought by a French national channel - sees
through modern communications ways to investigate their psychological consequences.
Their other movies, like “Maar” or “Anissa 2002”, are part of the same creative process;
independent and liberating.

MAGNETIC
FILMS
STUFF MOVIE is a short video production studio, funded in 2011 by Brice Cantineau,
then known as MANAMANA PRODUCTION. He changed the name in 2014 after
taking on Steven Le Guellec as an associate.
The company first started as an institutional films and promotional videos studio, and
expanded its work field in 2014. Brice and Steven are now associated with the production
of many fictional and documentary projects thanks to their post-production expertise
(editing, calibration, VFX, graphic design, subtitles, DCP). Several of their projects were
screened in major international Festivals: for example “Nosotros tambien somos extra-
terrestre” by Louidgi Beltram, (Marseille international film Festival) or L’appel by Alban
Ravassard (Independent Horror Movie Awards – best short movie, best actor, best visuals
effects).
In 2013, STUFF MOVIE produced a cardiac arrest prevention video called “Action !
Devenez acteur de la chaîne de survie” in association with Versailles University Hospital.
In the form of a fiction, the video depicts life saving techniques, starring Jackie Berroyer
and Alban Lenoir.
Following those successful experiences and our taste for fiction, we decided in 2015 to
embark on a new adventure; short movie production. Since we had been working with
Magnetic Films for several years, it only seemed natural to join them in coproducing
Anissa 2002.
Our shared values, complementary skills and Fabienne Facco’s brilliant screenwriting
make it easy to see why we are partners. Anissa 2002 is our first completed project, yet
other projects are already under development.

  • 4. As Europe became one and united by a single currency, a lifestyle magazine asked: “who are those new Euro- peans?” Being born into an immigrant Italian family, that question struck me. I look Mediterranean and while growing up I had often been asked, “ Where are you from? Your name does not sound French, where does it come from?” Despite having always identified myself as French, under the gaze of others I was seen differently. As European borders were opening up, I became European and I did not need to explain my origins anymore since I belong. Then, who are those “new Europeans?” To answer that ques- tion, I felt like talking about belonging through Anissa’s story since ultimately we all belong to something. Right here, right now. Origins are just a way to lineage. As I see it, Anissa personifies the way between here and elsewhere, the past and the future. She is transi- ting to the destination of her choice. She already has a very distinct past from her parents’; hers began in her neighbourhood, where she played as a kid, at the bakery where she bought her candies, at school, with her friends. She has her own memories, her own habits, her own volition. She is just not quite from the same cultural array as her parents. She is both in search of identity as a woman and in search of identity per se. Torn between her Moroccan legacy and the country she was born in, she is about to live a unique expe- rience – her own. The film is story about transformation. It’s about an overprotected teenager, bound by tradition, growing into a young, free woman; it’s a rite of passage. As she finds out about the world, she finds out about herself. She discovered something new, which she cannot ignore. Like many teenagers, she feels awkward; she doesn’t know how to express herself. She can’t share her feelings openly with her family. She’s never been away from home. She is a lonely, frightened 16-year-old. Also, her parents keep telling her to be careful on two counts: because she is a girl, and because they live in a society they don’t understand. Anissa has no other choice but to trust the people she’s depending upon along her way, forcing her to open up. Surprisingly, she finds it pleasing. The outer world is not as hostile as she thought. She fits in. Running away from her family is heart breaking to Anissa since she’s still a child in need of care, but also because she feels disappointed. Her arranged mar- riage shatters the idea she had of love. As she pictures it, there’s a prince charming out there, waiting to meet her. She expected her mother – a woman – to protect her from this unfair tradition. In other circumstances she probably wouldn’t choose to do it with Matthew, but at this very moment she likes what he represents. Not knowing what to expect from life, she chose him as her first love: a choice heavy with consequences, but nonetheless meaningful. She freed herself from paternal authority and the traditions she was bound by. She claims her social inclusion - not within the state’s official institutions - but with her parents, no matter what happens when she returns home. This moment is forever engraved in her memory – I want it to be beautiful, gentle, and unique. I wanted to shoot Anissa’s story from an organic pers- pective, related to the body and its perception of her environment; the wind moving her forward, the sound of her footsteps in the forest, her sensations when she NOTE OF INTENT
  • 5. makes love for the first time. She is a full part of that environment. Locations are meaningful. They shape us. What we do there, we can’t do it somewhere else. Anissa is up against an immense landscape that echoes her newly discovered freedom, where she may lose herself. But down the road, she’ll eventually find her true self. I chose the year 2002 for a reason. Jean-Marie Le Pen’s desire to look inward, get rid of the immigrants and close up the borders almost got him elected president. While his far right party claims “la France aux français” (France belongs to French people), Anissa tries to free herself from dogmas to find her way as an individual. Biography Fabienne has been writing fictions for pre-prime-time and prime time TV on major channels for years. Her first short film “La Postière” shot with Ellabel Productions and the support of the Département du Val de Marne was selected in several festivals such as L’Open du Court (Paris, France) or Le Festival Inter- national du Film de Femmes (Créteil, France). While completing her medium length film “Tu es plus belle que Sharon Stone” she asked Magnetic Films to produce Anissa 2002. Note of context In the early 2000s, the entire world went through a violent identity crisis: we are still living through the consequences. As such, 2002 was a critical year for France. Political indecisiveness and abstention led the leader of the extreme right party to the second round of the pre- sidential election, leaving the left wing’s front-runner Lionel Jospin out of the race. The whole country was in shock at discovering that they produced such election results. The country Anissa grew up in was torn apart between its socialist tradition and the rise of extremist voices. Yet tradition can be shatte- red, for better or worse. Anissa 2002 tells a search of identity, but not only Anissa’s. It’s the search of an entire generation, who is trying to break the deadlock.

Father Maxime Toussaint ....... Gary Natacha Krief Following her graduation from highschool, Natacha entered a performing art class at the Université Paris X and at Studio Alain Debock. She then learned the Meisner tech- nique – among other things – with Steven Ditmyer. She made her first on screen appearances in 2013 both in theatre and TV, with the films “Trois coeurs” and “Le Journal d’une femme de chambre” by Bennoit Jacquot, and also in the France 2 series “Lebowitz contre Lebowitz”. In 2014, she was offered the female lead in the spectacle “Aladin” staged by Jean-Pi- lippe Daguerre, which played both at the Théâtre des Variétés and the Palais Royal in Paris. She continues to broaden her experience as an actress as she works on short-movies and web series. Natacha is a multifaceted actress, who can act with ease on stage, TV and cinema. Thanks to her undeniable presence, Fa- bienne Facco and the production choose her among dozens of other girls to be Anis- sa, the lead role in Anissa 2002. Daniel Horn Daniel graduated form the prestigious London School of Dramatic Art where he played the notorious characters from Shakespeare to Tenessee Williams. He moved to Paris two years ago in order to broaden his skills. He is currently learning “clown art” and more extensively the ways of body language at the Ecole Internatio- nale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. He worked with Alain Tasma, Laurent Le- clerc, Steven Morrison, Kazeem Akinsay- nay or Tommaso Oriani and as made seve- ral appearances on television and cinema in France and England. He is currently “Pierre de la Croix” in the Canal + TV show “Ver- sailles”, directed by Jalil Lespert. In front of Fabienne Facco’s camera, he is Matthew, Anissa’s first lover. Charlotte Deysine From childhood, Charlotte was familiarized with the performing art thanks to an amateur theatre company she had been with for 7 years. At 18, she went off to perfect her skills at the renowned Cours Florent and Jean-Laurent Cocher’s course. She also learned to act in English through her class at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles. She made her debut in front of the camera in short-movies for the CLCF or Luc Besson’s Ecole de la Cité. Thanks to her talent and spontaneity, she was soon casted to play recurring roles in major French TV shows. Commercial directors such as Lucille Hadzihalilovic or Lars Blummer were seduced by her innate sense of acting and diaphanous complexion. Despite her schedule, this vivid and dynamic young girl still finds time to pursue her passion for horseback riding – competing in international events. She is Julie, Anissa’s friend, and she will unknowingly help her to take responsibility for her own destiny. CREW Written and Directed by .......... • 7. MAGNETIC FILMS was created in 2011. Julien Gittinger produced several short films along with music videos and corporate films with his former company. Lucie Duchêne wrote and directed four short films financed and supported by the CNC, which were broadcasted on large audience channels. They first met while working on Eau Forte with Lolita Chammah et Jérémie Elkaïm. Through their mutual passion for cinema, and enriched by this experience, they decided to unite their expertise in order to produce films that mattered to them. They offer a sincere form of cinema, often rebellious and always artistically demanding, that echoes the social and individual’s inherent tensions. They see their relationship to the authors as a mutually enlightening journey, gathering experiences and cultural enrichment. They produced “Un Seul Corps” with greek-australian director Sotiris Dounoukos, which portrays a strange friendship in a slaughterhouse. The film appeared in many Festivals and won a prize at the Toronto International Film Festival. Sébastien Bardet’s “Bleu Blanc Gris” – broadcasted on national television - explores the question of “grey wedding” through the conspiracy of a bashful lover deputy mayor (Jean-Noël Brouté) and a bitter cop (Gilles Cohen), their efforts to end a relationship between a young French woman and an undocumented Turkish man. “#pouralex” by Louda Ben Salah - also bought by a French national channel - sees through modern communications ways to investigate their psychological consequences. Their other movies, like “Maar” or “Anissa 2002”, are part of the same creative process; independent and liberating. MAGNETIC FILMS STUFF MOVIE is a short video production studio, funded in 2011 by Brice Cantineau, then known as MANAMANA PRODUCTION. He changed the name in 2014 after taking on Steven Le Guellec as an associate. The company first started as an institutional films and promotional videos studio, and expanded its work field in 2014. Brice and Steven are now associated with the production of many fictional and documentary projects thanks to their post-production expertise (editing, calibration, VFX, graphic design, subtitles, DCP). Several of their projects were screened in major international Festivals: for example “Nosotros tambien somos extra- terrestre” by Louidgi Beltram, (Marseille international film Festival) or L’appel by Alban Ravassard (Independent Horror Movie Awards – best short movie, best actor, best visuals effects). In 2013, STUFF MOVIE produced a cardiac arrest prevention video called “Action ! Devenez acteur de la chaîne de survie” in association with Versailles University Hospital. In the form of a fiction, the video depicts life saving techniques, starring Jackie Berroyer and Alban Lenoir. Following those successful experiences and our taste for fiction, we decided in 2015 to embark on a new adventure; short movie production. Since we had been working with Magnetic Films for several years, it only seemed natural to join them in coproducing Anissa 2002. Our shared values, complementary skills and Fabienne Facco’s brilliant screenwriting make it easy to see why we are partners. Anissa 2002 is our first completed project, yet other projects are already under development. STUFF MOVIE
