studio, Ben Perlin Photography. Driven to contribute to the
community, Benjamin โBenโ Perlin works at his local Habitat for
Humanity Re-Store, and volunteers for the Second Harvest Food
Bank of MiddleTennessee.
According to a recent study featured on the Second Harvest
website, 13.8 percent of MiddleTennessee residents experience
food insecurity, meaning they have uncertain or limited access to
adequate food to ensure good health.This puts MiddleTennessee
slightly higher than the national food insecurity rate of 13.4
percent. Unfortunately, children in MiddleTennessee have a higher
food insecurity rate of nearly 20 percent.
3. Food Insecurity
โข The number of food-insecureAmericans rose sharply after the 2008
economic collapse.While the rate has decreased somewhat over
the past few years, food insecurity rates still have not rebounded to
pre-recession levels.

action to combat the hunger that exists in nearly every community
