One of Benjamin Perlin’s favorite destinations is
Kyoto.
The Japanese city of Kyoto is home to a number of
beautiful sites, including the Fushimi Inari Shrine.
While about 400 Shinto shrines exist in Kyoto, this is
one of the most beautiful: the 2.5-mile path up Mount
Inari that leads to it is lined with nearly 10,000
lacquered gates.
3. Kyoto, Japan
Visitors should also check out the bustling Nishiki
Market. Though it may be overwhelming at first, the
market offers a unique experience for tourists. While
hardly any English is posted, vendors are eager to
have travelers try their green teas and other foods.
On the western edge of Kyoto is the quaint
Arashiyama neighborhood. Here, visitors should
check out the Togetsukyo Bridge, which passes over
Katsura River. The bridge, which has stood for more
than eight decades, allows visitors to catch a
glimpse of cherry blossoms in the spring or brightly
colored foliage in the fall.
