Perfect target audience

  1. Perfect Target Audience Benjamin Thomas-Lewin
  2. Types of film noir audience • Film noir has many types of audience these can range from teens with the aim of the film to show them ‘life’ in the 1900’s however there are also much more violent film noirs aimed at an older audience as much more of an action film from their own times. There is also the middle aged film noirs that aim to remind or educate people on what society used to be like or at least the directors perspective of it.
  3. Our ideal audience • I think our ideal audience would be a middle aged audience or an audience between 16-25 as a secondary target. This is because of the way in which our film involves complicated plots that we can learn from the popular BBC show ‘Sherlock’ can achieve a wide viewership but is popular amongst the 16-25 year olds but also the parents age between 40-50.
  4. What we originally thought about our target audience • “My perfect audience member would be interested in history possibly as well as crime movies and would likely be well dressed and formal to reflect many of the aspects of typical film noir. They would likely have interests in more classical music as this is very common amongst film noirs and also be in favour of both posh dinners like film noir or at the other end of the spectrum very easy takeaway food and simple meals.”
  5. Target Audience Now • I now think that are target audience may be either side of what we originally thought: • Either Mid 40’s or late teens early 20’s • Interests in classical music and a variety of more modern music • Most likely from a working class background • Interests in mystery and crime solving films as well as liking a good plot line • Also interests in tv shows such as ‘Sherlock’, ‘CSI’, ‘Silent Witness’ to name a few
  6. Why the change in audience • I think as we made the opening sequence and where in the later stages of planning we realised that to get our film to be successful we would need to bring it up to date with modern times however we wanted to keep away from neo noir as we felt this had been overdone and wasnt a very new thing to do. I also think that as the plot was planned we realised that the film would be much more suited to a crime solving audience rather than a simple murder audience
