OLYMPIC SYMBOLS
Olympic Flag
 Created in 1913
 Hoisted first time at Antwerp
Olympic Games in 1920
 Made of white silk and
contains five interlocking
rings/circles.
 Rings/circles representing
five continents of the world,
viz., America, Europe,
Australia, Asia and Africa
 Rings have different colours:
yellow, green, red, blue and
black
By : Bhawani Pratap Singh Shekhawat , // bhawani912@gmail.com / +91 8005864874 //
IOC states about the rings
“The five rings represent the five continents. They are interlaced
to show the universality of Olympism and the meeting of the
athletes of the world during the Olympic Games. On the Olympic
flag, the rings appear on a white background. Combined in this
way, the six colours of the flag (blue, yellow, black, green, red
and white) represent all nations. It is a misconception, therefore,
to believe that each of the colours corresponds to a certain
continent.”
