The document discusses a £12.7 million project to restructure a traffic roundabout called Birchley Island in Sandwell, UK that experiences gridlock from nearly 100,000 drivers daily. The Managing Director of Yellow Cars taxi service, which transports many passengers through the area, supports the project, saying customers are frustrated by the current situation. If funding is approved, the project would construct a new two-way traffic island with an extended road, hopefully alleviating congestion. Yellow Cars looks forward to improved transport for passengers when the work is complete.

Road Nightmare for Almost 100,000 Drivers Per Day
Frustrated motorists in Sandwell are holding their collective breaths to see if £12.7 million
will be allocated to solve the disastrous on-going Birchley Island traffic fiasco that Yellow Cars
passengers say they’re tired of.
Darren Thorpe, Yellow Cars Managing Director said, “enough is enough is what I hear our
local customers say about the current situation. We’re awaiting a green light from the local
Council who’ve been promising action on the matter. The reality is that work on the infamous
island close to junction 2 of the M5 is well overdue.”
It’s been reported by local media in The Express and Star that we should soon see white
smoke on dates for the project when funding is granted by the government. Half a billion pounds
has been earmarked for such road improvement projects around the United Kingdom.
Mr. Thorpe added that, “it’s unbelievable when you consider what approximately 92,000
drivers are enduring each day. Imagine almost 100,000 drivers being put in this situation in 2016.
Where’s the logic? It’s putting so much pressure on other roads in the district it’s not funny.
Gridlock really isn’t the word for it.”
Finally, the Yellow Cars Managing Direction said, “it’ll be a new lease of life for passengers
when our drivers can finally drive along the new road structure where Wolverhampton Road will
extend through the roundabout where there’s hopefully soon going to be a two way traffic island
with the much needed investment of close to £13 million. We’re counting down the days and so
are our passengers in the community.”
