2. Hilary Swank plays the role of Erin Gruwell, a new, excited
schoolteacher who leaves the safety of her hometown, Newport Beach, to
teach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, a formerly high
achieving school which has recently had an integration program put in
place. Her enthusiasm is quickly challenged when she realizes that her
class are all "at-risk" students, also known as "untouchables", and not the
eager students she was expecting. The students segregate themselves
into racial groups in the classroom, fights break out, and eventually most
of the students stop turning up to class. She gradually begins to earn their
trust and buys them composition books to record their diaries, in which
they talk about their experiences of being abused, seeing their friends die,
and being evicted. Her husband divorces her. The film ends with a note
that Gruwell successfully brought many of her students to graduation and
college.

4. Moral values
You can make your dreams come true in spite of
all challenges that you may have.
Be your own authentic self!
Nothing can stop you from reaching your goals
and making your dreams come true.
You are somebody’s “hero” and Greatness does
not depend on the size of the person but the spirit
within.
Doing the right thing takes courage.
Each person is a teacher whether they choose to
be or not.
Each life is important and worth
documenting. Writing is a way to preserve your
legacy.
5. Our profession is not as simple as
what we expect, because there are a lot of
factors we need to consider as part of the
progression. We educators are the
mentors of our students, we are assigned
to hold the future of our learners. We can’t
deny the fact that our student is different
in nature, intelligence and capability, now
it is our turned to cater those ability, that’s
why we should not limit our intellectual
capacity, strategy and be innovative in
order to meet the standard of our students
so that there is a transfer of learning.
6. However as a teacher we are the follower of
Jesus Christ, as what Jesus Christ done in this
world we are obliged to do the same. We must
integrate patience, respect and have passion to
teach. Even though how hard the situation is, we
are flexible enough to do our mission which is
called from God. Expected that more hindrance
will come, despite of those barrier it is our
challenge on how we bring and hold the interest
of our learners to walk the right pathway of life
with God.
