Much like Week 1, Week 2 was filled with excitement, with 4 of the 6 games resulting in huge come-from-behind wins! In all 4 cases,
the eventual victors were given a 35% or less chance ofwinning. 5 of lastweek’s 6 winners failed to reach the playoffs lastseason. 6 of
the top ranked teams did not make the post-season last year. All 4 of the lowest ranked teams made the playoffs last season. All 3 of
the lowest ranked teams following Week 1 won in Week 2.
Week 2 produced…
2. 4 come-from-behind victories
5 of 6 teams who made the playoffs in 2018 lost their respective
5 of 6 teams who did not made the playoffs in 2018 won their respective
Home teams were 4-2-0
Road teams were 2-4-0
Week 3’s six games include:
6 games between different nations
6 games divisional matchups
1 game between 2-0-0 teams- Jaymin at Big Dawgs
3 games between 1-1-0 teams
1 game between 2-0-0 team vs. 0-2-0 team- Remis Island (2-0-0) atBowl Bound Mavericks (0-2-0)
1 game between 0-2-0 teams- Men of Steel at Bleeding Blue
1 games between 2018 playoff team vs. non-playoff team
3 games between 2018 playoff teams
3 games between 2018 non-playoff teams
Here’s a look at this week’s six IFFL games…
JAYMIN AT BIG DAWGS- Early season clash between two of the league’s top-three teams. The Big Dawgs and Jaymin have both
come out of the gates in full ragada, with each boasting 2-0-0 records after failing to reach the post-season, last year. For the Jaymin,
even though all of their players haven’t come to their full fruition, they’ve won off of their defenses, the arm of Matt Ryan and the legs of
Derrick Henry. Everyone else in their starting lineups have been rather inconsistent in this past 2-game stretch, yet when the Jaymin
needed production, someone stepped up to contribute to the cause. Most of the Jaymin’s base-starters are on the road, yet the majority
of them are such that they can still put up some strong numbers. Almost the opposite applies for the Big Dawgs. They do have some
challenges this week, like their RBs, Lindsey and Kamara, who are both on the road against Green Bay and Seattle, respectively. In
addition,Big Dawgs receivers,Allen, Godwin and Ridleyhave been gobbling up points like Pacman.Expect this game to live up to all of
the pre-game hype, and more!
RUSSIAN HACKERS AT MIGHTY CYCLONES- After getting crushed in Week 1 by the two-time defending world champions, Remis
Island, the Russian Hackers recovered nicely by defeating the Bowl Bound Mavericks in Week 2. Now, they have the chance to pour
salt on the wound of the injury riddled Mighty Cyclones. The Russian Hackers have won 2 of the last 3 in the series, with both wins
knocking the Mighty Cyclones out of the playoff hunt. Russia’s Hackers have lacked consistencyamong their corps of starters, but they
have a plethora of reserves that have put up some reallydecentnumbers, especiallylast week. Too bad the same can’t be said for the
limping Mighty Cyclones. In the last two weeks, they lost their two key receivers, namely Tyreek Hill in Week 1 and Desean Jackson in
Week 2. Like AJ Green, both wideouts are out until further notice. There are some bright spots, though, including Patrick Mahomes,
John Ross, Evan Engram, Justin Tucker, and to a certain extent, RBs Fournette and Jacobs; but just barely. You can also throw in
Houston’s defense, although they kept giving up piles and piles of yards, which led to their release and replaced with the Indianapolis
Colts. This is one of those games where you just don’t know how good or how bad either team is. One thing is for certain, this week’s
game will reveal which team stinks less than the other.
REMIS ISLAND AT BOWL BOUND MAVERICKS- If Remis Island has a specific secret to their ongoing success, it is patience. They
don’tmake a lot of changes to their roster, much less their starting lineup, and even though things like injuries have set them back from
time to time, like James Conner, who sustained a knee injurythis pastweek, for the mostpart, any adjustments Remis Island has been
forced to make have been enough to still transcend into wins. What has really been impressive is Remis Island’s Prescott-Cooper
connection, which produced 109 points in the first two weeks, although Prescott and his 41 points sat on the bench in the season-
opener.In addition,Austin Ekeler has amassed 60 points,including 22 lastweek,and Julio Jones,who piled up 42 points, including 27
in Week 2 versus the Mighty Cyclones.Just two weeks ago,the Bowl Bound Mavericks were ranked 3rd in the pre-season poll, butnow
find themselves with a strong probabilityof going 0-3-0.It is quite the oxymoron when you look at their talent-filled roster, including their
reserves, versus their 0-2-0 record. Additionally, they saw Drew Brees hurt his thumb and could be out for the next couple of weeks.
Still, no worries, not when the BB Mavericks also have Jared Goff ready to take on the starting role. When you factor in all of the
amazing players the Bowl Bound Mavs have you just know it is going to be a matter of time before they get on a tear. But, will it be this
week against Remis Island?
MEN OF STEEL AT BLEEDING BLUE- Both teams made the post-season last year, but now find themselves fighting tooth and nail to
stay alive. Inconsistencies have run amuck for the Men of Steel and Bleeding Blue. For the Men of Steel, it’s their running game. In
Week 1 McCaffrey and Carson spit out 65 points, including 4 TDs. Last week, they combined for just 15 points and 0 TDs. Plus, the
Men of Steel witnessed in horror as QB Big Ben (elbow) and Mike Gallup (knee) were pulled out of their respective games with injuries.
Yet, they do have a deep reserve pool of which they can dip into. It’s just a matter of which player goes where. Like the Men of Steel,
Bleeding Blue’s roster is far better than what their 0-2-0 record indicates. They, too, have been stung between the eyes with the
inconsistencybug.Rivers, Hopkins and justabouteveryone else on their roster, with exception of Michael Thomas, have been as fickle
as one can get. Both teams suffered losses atthe hands ofthe Big Dawgs and Jaymin, two teams that have had a relatively easy go of
it. Even so, the Men of Steel and Bleeding Blue didn’t help themselves with all the wishy-washiness, either. Clearly, whichever of the
two can get some measure ofconsistency going should win this matchup. As we all know, though, that is far easier said than done in
the world of fantasy football.
STORMOZ AT SHANGHAI WANG- Before, StormOZ managed to pull one rabbit after the other out of their hat and now they find
themselves clumped together with six 1-1-0 teams. Can they return to their unorthodox ways of winning against the likes of Shanghai
3. Wang? Perhaps, especially when you look at their upcoming individual opponents, where a vast majority of the competition is on the
road. Now, there are some concerns like in Smith-Schuster’s case. Can replacement Mason Rudolph get him the ball with enough
regularity to matter against the Niners in San Fran? Also, New Orleans and Detroit defenses, who travel to Seattle and Philly,
respectively. Conventional wisdom indicates that StormOZ should win this week, and without much dependency of good luck charms.
But we all know too well that in fantasy football, everything is a contradiction to itself. Shanghai Wang has enough talent. But, like so
many other fantasy teams, they’re caught in a situation where they’ve got to keep mixing and matching and hope that their players can
go a couple of stretches of solid performances before they can establish some form of regularity. Like StormOZ, Shanghai Wang has
very favorable matchups, with mostoftheir squad, both starters and reserves, competing at home. Should be one of those matchups
that drags on well into early Tuesday morning before the winner in this game is decided.
PROCTERS AT LONELY STAR- Both teams rebounded nicely last week in their wins over former playoff teams, and now each have
their sights seton making it 2 in-a-row. The Procters’ 136 points from last week was the most points they’ve scored since registering
141 in their 144-141 loss to Shanghai Wang in Week 2 of last year. They’re getting great production out of RBs Cook and Jones, and
TE sensation Travis Kelce. However, they desperatelyneed more consistencyoutof QB Cam Newton and wideouts Williams and Kirk.
Until they do, we could see more up and down play from the team as a whole. Likewise, with Lonely Star. Lamar Jackson has been off
the charts. So has Saquon Barkley. Yet, like the Procters, Lonely Star’s receiving corps has been good one week and soup grapes the
next. This is likely the area that will make or break either team. Whichever team can get some regularity going, at least to the point
where they can match their projected numbers, will enhance their chances exponentially of winning this game.
QUICK HITS
In the past 4 years, 7 IFFL teams were 3-0-0 three weeks into the season, of which 6 of those teams made the playoffs. Only 1 of 8
teams who opened the season 0-3-0 reached the post-season:
