Questionnaire analysis 2

analysis

Thiswas the firstquestionthatIaskedinthe questionnaireandthisissothat I hadan ideaof the age
stagesthatwouldbe givingtheiropinion.Inadditiontothisitwouldalsohelpme todecideonanage
totarget andmarketourshort filmtoandthisisbecause theyhave the abilitytobe able toshare their
ideasand opinionsthatwill potentiallymake itintothe short film. The resultsshow me that most of
the twentypeoplewhoansweredthe questionnaire were inthe age range of 0 -17 yearsold, itisclear
that there is not going to be really young children answering this questionnaire and this is because
theymightnot have the abilitytobe able to readand write and so I am goingto inferthat a majority
of the people thatansweredthisquestionnaire were teenagers. The nextpopularage groupwas the
agesbetween17– 29 yearsoldwhichagainisa good age and thisisbecause theyare goingtohave a
lotof experiencesandare goingtobe able to voice theiropinionsinordertohelpmake myshortfilm
successful. The next age range was 30 – 49 years old and this is lower than the others and so they
mightnot be as interestedinthese shortfilms. Finally, the lastage is 50+ and I believe thatthiswas
one person. I am going to be able to use this information to helpme to ensure that I am aiming my
short filmatthe correct target market. Due to these resultswe have come tothe conclusionthatour
film is going to have the age range of 12 and above.
Thisis the secondquestionthatwason the questionnaire anditaskedthe people thatare answering
what gender they are. I believe this is another important question and this is because it is going to
helpmake sure thatthe filmisgoingtosuitthe peoplethatare goingto be watching.Majorityof those
that answered the questionnaire were male and so it is to think that our film can be male based. In
this case it is importantnot to neglectthe other two optionsand thisis female and otherand this is
because there isahighchance thattheycouldbe watchingthe filmtoandsoIthinkthatitisimportant
How old are you?
0 - 17 years old
18 - 29 years old
30 - 49 years old
50+ years old
What is your gender?
Male Female
Other
that everybodywho is watching the film is being targeted and this is so that they can have the best
experience.Itislikelythatthe femalesare goingtocome withthe malesandsodue to the resultswe
knowthatit isimportantthatthe filmisnotjustmale basedandthisisbecause the femalescouldget
boredand potential leave.Thisisnotgoodand thisis because theycantalk and tell the nextfemales
whoare then notgoingtowant tocome and see the filmwhichmeansthatthe numberof ticketssold
are going to be reduced and the short film will not be successful and so this needs to be taken into
consideration. The amount of females who answered this survey are a majority females and so it is
important that they are reached just as well as the males.
Thisisthe thirdquestionthatisonmyquestionnaire andthe reasonthatIhave askedthisquestionis
so that I can have a general ideaof the typesof nationalitiesthatare goingto be watchingmy short
film.It isclear that the majorityof the subjectsof my questionnaire were Britishasso as a resultwe
have decidedtomakeourshortfilminthe styleof aBritishSocialRealism.The nextpopularnationality
was American and this means that they are going to be getting an insight into the Britain. It is
importanttoknowthe majorityof the nationalityandthisissothattheycan be reached anditcan be
as realistic as possible and this is because if it is not then whenthe audience watch it then they are
not goingto wantto watch it againand theymightevenspreadbadreviewsaboutthe show andthis
means that the number of viewsis going to reduce drastically and this is because there are going to
be people who don’t want to come and watch the short film because others are saying bad things
about the film.
This is the forth question that was on the questionnaire and this has been asked as part of primary
researchso thatI can be able to workout where itisthat ourshort filmisgoingtobe distributedand
thisisdue tothe majority.Thisisbecauseif thereare alotof people whoansweredthisquestionnaire
What is your nationality?
British America
Irish Other
What is your currentjob status?
Full-time
Part-time
Unemployed
Retired
Student
who are unemployed, retired and students then it is likely that they are not going to have a lot of
disposableincomewhichmeansthattheymightnothavealotof moneytobe able togotothe cinema
in orderto watch filmsandso as a resultit wouldbe pointlessputtingmyshort filmina cinemaand
thisis because nobodyis goingto see it.If there are a lot of people whoare full-time thenitislikely
that they are goingto have more moneywhich meansthat puttingitin the cinemawouldbe a good
idea because we would be able to make money from it. Due to the results of this question I think
making the short film accessible to students is important and this is because they are most of the
people that have answeredthe question. This meansthe short film should go onto the internet and
television channels such as Channel 4 or Film4.
Thisisone of the mostimportantquestionsonthequestionnaire andthisisbecauseitisabletoinform
me on the genre that the filmshouldbe basedon.Itisveryimportanttosee what genre was popular
and thisis sothat we can create a shortfilmonthe populargenre andthisis goingto ensure thatwe
are goingto be able to maximise the numberof salesmade andthisisbecause we have beenable to
identifywhatispopularandthismeansthatitislikelythatthere isgoingtobe more peoplethatwant
to come and watch the film. It is evident that the most popular genre due to the questionnaire is
drama andso asa resultthe firstshortfilmthatwe are goingtocreate isgoingtobe a drama withthe
style asa BritishSocial Realism. If we have the genreasadrama thenthere isgoingtobe a lotof sales
made and this is because they are going to want to see this drama. The next popular genre was a
horror alongside a comedy as well. We can use this questionnaire to identify the genre of the next
shortfilmthatwe are goingtocreate.It isthena romanticfilmthatisenjoyedandfinallyacrime,sci-
fi and othergenres.Nowthatwe have these ideasitisimportantthatwe use themto our advantage
and this is so that the film can be as successful as possible.
What is your favouritegenreof
film?
Horror Drama
Comedy Crime
Sci-fi Romantic
Other
How often do you go to the
cinema in a month?
0 times
1 - 3 times
4+ times
This is the sixth question that is on the questionnaire and it is important to know the answer to this
andthisisbecause if there are alotof people thatgotothe cinemathenitcouldbe worthputtingthe
shortfilmintothe cinemasothat there ismoneygoingtobe made as well asawarenessforthe short
film as well as the production company. From the pie chart it shows me that most of people who
answeredthe questionnaire gotothe cinema1 – 3 timeswithinamonth.Thisisquite alothoweverI
don’t believe that it is enough to screen the short film so as a result we could try and get it to play
before the feature lengthfilms. If thisisnot possible thenashort advertbefore a feature lengthfilm
would work and this is because this is going to make the audience aware of both the short film and
ourproductioncompany.There isquiteafew peoplewhodon’tgotothe cinemaatall inamonthand
thismeans that usingthe cinemato promote the filmis not the best way and thisis because we are
not able to reach all of the audience and this is what we need to be able to do if we want to be
successful and so we should use other promotional methods.
This was another important question that was to go onto the questionnaire and this is because we
neededtohave general ideaof whetherornot theyhad seenshort filmbefore.Itis prettyclearthat
a majorityof the people thatcompletedthe questionnaireforme have seenashortfilmandthisisan
advantage formyproductioncompanyandthisisbecause itmeansthattheyare highlylikelytocome
andsee thisshortfilmbecause hopefullytheyhave enjoyedthe othersthattheyhave seen.Inaddition
to thisthere were afewpeople whoinformedusthattheywere notsure if theyhadseenashortfilm
and thismeansthatitis likelythattheyhave buttheyare justunaware.Thismeansthatwe are going
to be targetingourshortfilmtothose whohave shortfilmbeforeandsoitislikelythatVoicesisgoing
to be successful.There wasatinyminoritythathadnotseenshortfilmsbutthisisnotadisadvantage
and this is because we have the ability to be able to persuade them, which means we are giving
ourselvesthe chance to be able to attract the most amountof customersand thisis so that theycan
all watch our short film and potentiallytalk about it as well spread a good word which means more
people are going to come and watch the film which means a higher success rate.
Haveyou ever seen a shortfilm?
Yes No Not sure
One of the waysthat I am goingto be able promote our shortfilmisin a filmmagazine andthisis so
that the audience have the opportunityto see what othersthink of the short before they come and
see the film.Outof the twentypeople thatwere askedmost of themread magazine feature articles
and so as a resultthismeansthatputtingmy shortfilmintoa feature article isa goodideaand thisis
because itmeansthatthere isgoingto be a lot people thatare goingtosee itand as a resulttheyare
going to be intrigued. They are going to be intriguedbecause the filmreview is goingto be positive
and thisis goingto leadto themwantingtocome and see the short filmwhichmeansthe numberof
view is going to increase which is beneficial because it means that our production companyis going
to be become well-knownandasa resultwe are goingtobe able to maintainatargetaudience which
is goingto be useful whenitcomestocreatingother shortfilmsandthisis because theyare goingto
knowthe productioncompanyandwill wanttowatchthe new shortfilmastheyenjoyedthe lastone.
It is clear that I am goingto geta filmreview formy magazine andthis is so that it can go intoa film
magazine andbe noticedbythe potential audience.Thisisanimportantquestionandthisisbecause
if I am able to identify the most popular filmmagazine then I am going to be able to reach as many
people as possible and this is good because it meansthere is going to be a lot more reviewsthat if I
didn’t do anything to raise awareness for my short film. Due to the answers of the questionnaire
alongside thispie chartitisclear thatthe popularfilmmagazine isThe FilmReview asaresultwe are
goingto geta reviewof outshortfilmputintothismagazine andthisisbecause itmeansthata lotof
the audience are goingtosee the reviewwhichisgoingtoencourage themtogoandwatch the short

film and this is because it is likely that the film review is going to be a positive one.I did not expect
thisanswerandthisisbecause The FilmReviewisnotasknownincomparisontoEmpire howeverthe
resultbe like thisbecause of the individualsthatwere chosentoanswerthe questionnaire.Once the
filmhasbeencompleteditisimportantthatwe are to get intocontact withThe FilmReviewandthis
is because they are going to have to time to watch the film and then review it for the potential
audience.
Now that I know that the individuals that have answered the questionnaire like to purchase film
magazine it is important to know how many times they are to purchase it in the month and this is
because thisisgoingtogive anideaof whenIshouldpublishitandinwhichmagazine.Seeingasmost
of the people whoansweredthe questionnaire purchase filmmagazines4 – 6 timeswithinamonthI
shouldgetmultiplefilmmagazinestoreviewmyshortfilmandthisisbecause itisnotlikelythatthey
purchase the same magazine so if I am able to show them the film in differentmagazines then they
are going to be constantly reminded and as a result they are likelyto try and find the short film and
this is because they are going to see all of these good reviews which means that they are going to
want to see what all of the hype is about. If our film is good enough hopefullythey will continue to
talk aboutit whichmeansother people are goingto want to come and see the filmand as resultthe
numberof viewsare goingto increase whichisgoing to benefitourproductioncompanynow and in
the long run.
As we have no decided that our film is going to be in a film magazine and we have decided that it is
goingto be in The FilmReviewdecidinghow manypagesthe featuresarticle shouldbe isagood idea
and thisis because we want to ensure that we are doingeverythingthatour audience wantand this
isso thattheirneedsare alwaysmetandso we are able tomaintainthispositivereputation.Itisclear

4 - 6 times
How many pages would you prefer

4 or more pages
that most of the readers have said that they would prefer to read a magazine feature article of two
pages.I believe thisisthe typical answerbecause all of the informationisable tofiton the twopages
whilst having images to intrigue them even more. Any more pages and it would be too much
information and this has been proven because there is not many people who answered the
questionnaire that said 3 pages, or 4 pages and more and this is because this might be too much to
read and the readeris going to lose interestandas a resulttheyare not going to be able to findout
about our short film. Due to the results of this questionnaire I am going to request that the review
magazine/sdoafeature article of 2pagesandthisisbecause thisiswhatthe audience/readerswould
prefer.
AnotherwaythatIhave decidedtopromotethe ourshirtfilmiswitharadiotrailerandthisisbecause
the usage of radio has increaseddrastically andso this isone of the perfectwaysto getattentionof
the audience and encourage them to come and see the short film. As I am going to be using a radio
trailerIthoughtitwouldbe importanttofindouthow oftentheylistentothe radioandthisisso that
I wouldknowhow many time I showairedthe advertin orderto attract my audience.Whenlooking
at the resultsof thispie chart I have decidedthatthisisgoing to be a little harderandthis isbecause
a majority of the people who answered the questionnaire listen a few days in a week. This means
more research should be conducted and this is so that I can find out which days in particular is the
most popularalongside the time andthisisso that I can intrigue the listenerandthentheywill want
to come and watchthe short film. There are onlytwopeoplewholistentothe radioeverydayandso
it islikelythattheyare goingto hear the radio advertisementandwanttocome and watchthe short
film as the radio advert has been able to hook them.
The thirteenthquestioninthe questionnaire didnothaveoptionstoselectfromandthiswasbecause
thispartwasgoingtobe the personwhoansweredthe questionnairesopinion.Theywere askedwhat
it was in radio trailers that stood out to them. This question was asked and this is because if I know
what it is that the audience likes within film trailers then I am going to be able to apply these to the
film trailers and as a result have a successful trailer that is going to intrigue the audience and the
listenersintogoingtosee the shortfilm. The resultswere are following;mostof the people surveyed
informed us that it was the background music that really stood out for them and as result it is
important that I select the right background music and this is because theyare going to be listening
to that. Afterthatit wasthe live dialogue closelyfollowedbythe voice overthatstoodoutand made
the radiotrailerinformative.Lastlyitwasthe factualinformationandthe soundeffectsthatstillstood
out but not the most. Due to the answer of this question I know what I need to put into my radio
trailer to make it attractive and intriguing.
How often do you listen to the
radio?
Never
Everyday
Few day in a week
Thiswasthe final questiononthe questionnaireanditisimportantagainthatI findoutwhatitis that
the audience wouldliketolistento.Theywillnotwanttolistentoa radio trailerthatistoo short and
thisis because itisnot goingto give themthe informationthattheyneedandtheymightnotwant it
too longand thisis because itwill dragon and theywill notwantto listenwhichmeanswe are going
to lose listeners and viewers for the short film. As a result of what the people who completed the
survey have said the radio film trailer is going to be in the time length of 30 – 40 seconds and this is
because thisisthe perfecttime inorderto give all the informationthatisgoingto be neededaswell
as cliff-hangers which are going to intrigue them to watch the film.
What length would you say is
perfectfor a film trailer?
Under 30 seconds
30 - 40 seconds
41+ seconds

This meansthe short film should go onto the internet and television channels such as Channel 4 or Film4. Thisisone of the mostimportantquestionsonthequestionnaire andthisisbecauseitisabletoinform me on the genre that the filmshouldbe basedon.Itisveryimportanttosee what genre was popular and thisis sothat we can create a shortfilmonthe populargenre andthisis goingto ensure thatwe are goingto be able to maximise the numberof salesmade andthisisbecause we have beenable to identifywhatispopularandthismeansthatitislikelythatthere isgoingtobe more peoplethatwant to come and watch the film. It is evident that the most popular genre due to the questionnaire is drama andso asa resultthe firstshortfilmthatwe are goingtocreate isgoingtobe a drama withthe style asa BritishSocial Realism. If we have the genreasadrama thenthere isgoingtobe a lotof sales made and this is because they are going to want to see this drama. The next popular genre was a horror alongside a comedy as well. We can use this questionnaire to identify the genre of the next shortfilmthatwe are goingtocreate. It isthena romanticfilmthatisenjoyedandfinallyacrime,sci- fi and othergenres.Nowthatwe have these ideasitisimportantthatwe use themto our advantage and this is so that the film can be as successful as possible. • 4. This is the sixth question that is on the questionnaire and it is important to know the answer to this andthisisbecause if there are alotof people thatgotothe cinemathenitcouldbe worthputtingthe shortfilmintothe cinemasothat there ismoneygoingtobe made as well asawarenessforthe short film as well as the production company. From the pie chart it shows me that most of people who answeredthe questionnaire gotothe cinema1 – 3 timeswithinamonth.Thisisquite alothoweverI don’t believe that it is enough to screen the short film so as a result we could try and get it to play before the feature lengthfilms. If thisisnot possible thenashort advertbefore a feature lengthfilm would work and this is because this is going to make the audience aware of both the short film and ourproductioncompany. There isquiteafew peoplewhodon’tgotothe cinemaatall inamonthand thismeans that usingthe cinemato promote the filmis not the best way and thisis because we are not able to reach all of the audience and this is what we need to be able to do if we want to be successful and so we should use other promotional methods. This was another important question that was to go onto the questionnaire and this is because we neededtohave general ideaof whetherornot theyhad seenshort filmbefore.Itis prettyclearthat a majorityof the people thatcompletedthe questionnaireforme have seenashortfilmandthisisan advantage formyproductioncompanyandthisisbecause itmeansthattheyare highlylikelytocome andsee thisshortfilmbecause hopefullytheyhave enjoyedthe othersthattheyhave seen.Inaddition to thisthere were afewpeople whoinformedusthattheywere notsure if theyhadseenashortfilm and thismeansthatitis likelythattheyhave buttheyare justunaware.Thismeansthatwe are going to be targetingourshortfilmtothose whohave shortfilmbeforeandsoitislikelythatVoicesisgoing to be successful. There wasatinyminoritythathadnotseenshortfilmsbutthisisnotadisadvantage and this is because we have the ability to be able to persuade them, which means we are giving ourselvesthe chance to be able to attract the most amountof customersand thisis so that theycan all watch our short film and potentiallytalk about it as well spread a good word which means more people are going to come and watch the film which means a higher success rate. Haveyou ever seen a shortfilm? Yes No Not sure

One of the waysthat I am goingto be able promote our shortfilmisin a filmmagazine andthisis so that the audience have the opportunityto see what othersthink of the short before they come and see the film.Outof the twentypeople thatwere askedmost of themread magazine feature articles and so as a resultthismeansthatputtingmy shortfilmintoa feature article isa goodideaand thisis because itmeansthatthere isgoingto be a lot people thatare goingtosee itand as a resulttheyare going to be intrigued. They are going to be intriguedbecause the filmreview is goingto be positive and thisis goingto leadto themwantingtocome and see the short filmwhichmeansthe numberof view is going to increase which is beneficial because it means that our production companyis going to be become well-knownandasa resultwe are goingtobe able to maintainatargetaudience which is goingto be useful whenitcomestocreatingother shortfilmsandthisis because theyare goingto knowthe productioncompanyandwill wanttowatchthe new shortfilmastheyenjoyedthe lastone. It is clear that I am goingto geta filmreview formy magazine andthis is so that it can go intoa film magazine andbe noticedbythe potential audience.Thisisanimportantquestionandthisisbecause if I am able to identify the most popular filmmagazine then I am going to be able to reach as many people as possible and this is good because it meansthere is going to be a lot more reviewsthat if I didn’t do anything to raise awareness for my short film. Due to the answers of the questionnaire alongside thispie chartitisclear thatthe popularfilmmagazine isThe FilmReview asaresultwe are goingto geta reviewof outshortfilmputintothismagazine andthisisbecause itmeansthata lotof the audience are goingtosee the reviewwhichisgoingtoencourage themtogoandwatch the short Do you read film magazinefeature articles? Now that I know that the individuals that have answered the questionnaire like to purchase film magazine it is important to know how many times they are to purchase it in the month and this is because thisisgoingtogive anideaof whenIshouldpublishitandinwhichmagazine.Seeingasmost of the people whoansweredthe questionnaire purchase filmmagazines4 – 6 timeswithinamonthI shouldgetmultiplefilmmagazinestoreviewmyshortfilmandthisisbecause itisnotlikelythatthey purchase the same magazine so if I am able to show them the film in differentmagazines then they are going to be constantly reminded and as a result they are likelyto try and find the short film and this is because they are going to see all of these good reviews which means that they are going to want to see what all of the hype is about. If our film is good enough hopefullythey will continue to talk aboutit whichmeansother people are goingto want to come and see the filmand as resultthe numberof viewsare goingto increase whichisgoing to benefitourproductioncompanynow and in the long run. As we have no decided that our film is going to be in a film magazine and we have decided that it is goingto be in The FilmReviewdecidinghow manypagesthe featuresarticle shouldbe isagood idea and thisis because we want to ensure that we are doingeverythingthatour audience wantand this isso thattheirneedsare alwaysmetandso we are able tomaintainthispositivereputation.Itisclear How often do you purchasea film magazinein a month? • 7. that most of the readers have said that they would prefer to read a magazine feature article of two pages.I believe thisisthe typical answerbecause all of the informationisable tofiton the twopages whilst having images to intrigue them even more. Any more pages and it would be too much information and this has been proven because there is not many people who answered the questionnaire that said 3 pages, or 4 pages and more and this is because this might be too much to read and the readeris going to lose interestandas a resulttheyare not going to be able to findout about our short film. Due to the results of this questionnaire I am going to request that the review magazine/sdoafeature article of 2pagesandthisisbecause thisiswhatthe audience/readerswould prefer. AnotherwaythatIhave decidedtopromotethe ourshirtfilmiswitharadiotrailerandthisisbecause the usage of radio has increaseddrastically andso this isone of the perfectwaysto getattentionof the audience and encourage them to come and see the short film. As I am going to be using a radio trailerIthoughtitwouldbe importanttofindouthow oftentheylistentothe radioandthisisso that I wouldknowhow many time I showairedthe advertin orderto attract my audience.Whenlooking at the resultsof thispie chart I have decidedthatthisisgoing to be a little harderandthis isbecause a majority of the people who answered the questionnaire listen a few days in a week. This means more research should be conducted and this is so that I can find out which days in particular is the most popularalongside the time andthisisso that I can intrigue the listenerandthentheywill want to come and watchthe short film. There are onlytwopeoplewholistentothe radioeverydayandso it islikelythattheyare goingto hear the radio advertisementandwanttocome and watchthe short film as the radio advert has been able to hook them. The thirteenthquestioninthe questionnaire didnothaveoptionstoselectfromandthiswasbecause thispartwasgoingtobe the personwhoansweredthe questionnairesopinion.Theywere askedwhat it was in radio trailers that stood out to them. This question was asked and this is because if I know what it is that the audience likes within film trailers then I am going to be able to apply these to the film trailers and as a result have a successful trailer that is going to intrigue the audience and the listenersintogoingtosee the shortfilm. The resultswere are following;mostof the people surveyed informed us that it was the background music that really stood out for them and as result it is important that I select the right background music and this is because theyare going to be listening to that. Afterthatit wasthe live dialogue closelyfollowedbythe voice overthatstoodoutand made the radiotrailerinformative.Lastlyitwasthe factualinformationandthe soundeffectsthatstillstood out but not the most. Due to the answer of this question I know what I need to put into my radio trailer to make it attractive and intriguing. How often do you listen to the radio? Never Everyday Few day in a week

Thiswasthe final questiononthe questionnaireanditisimportantagainthatI findoutwhatitis that the audience wouldliketolistento.Theywillnotwanttolistentoa radio trailerthatistoo short and thisis because itisnot goingto give themthe informationthattheyneedandtheymightnotwant it too longand thisis because itwill dragon and theywill notwantto listenwhichmeanswe are going to lose listeners and viewers for the short film. As a result of what the people who completed the survey have said the radio film trailer is going to be in the time length of 30 – 40 seconds and this is because thisisthe perfecttime inorderto give all the informationthatisgoingto be neededaswell as cliff-hangers which are going to intrigue them to watch the film.
