10. What did they learn?
Meredith: “It was interesting hearing about the college experience
from someone who lived it and not just a textbook. I didn’t know how
difficult getting into college was, or that the government paid for various
things, but that is dollars could count as a ‘scholarship’”.
CJ: “It gave me practice with my listening comprehension from a native
Chinese speaker, which I don’t get enough practice in. Also, it gave me
some insight into the Chinese secondary education system.”
Coleen: “We learned some famous Chinese singers’ name and
about music education and how parents might feel about their
children choosing music as a career.”
Christopher: “I learned a lot about culture during the Open Policy.
It was so interesting to hear about everyday life during this era,
especially from the perspective of someone who actually lived in
China. Yao laoshi (Professor Yao) is so fun to listen to, and she was
so full of information.”
